1. You can get a nice clean/sharp slap tone out of this. You can also get a deep more thumpy tone to. The bart mk1 preamp on this bass is excellent and allows your to dial in a vast array of tones. I have a thumb bass and ide bass its rivals the tone of the thumb.
2.
£350 for a Lakland Skyline? I don't know much about Laklands, but that sounds like a bloody bargain.
Yeh its a good price. Its in very good condition to. Its just sitting in my bedroom in the case begging to be played.
3. ive got the lakland branded levy's soft case. Theres a little mark on the top of the headstock but other then that its clean. Theres no digs to my knowledge.
4. i got a pair of acs plugs. they are well worth the moneys. It feels weird when they put the gew in your ears when they get a mould.
5. I have 2 items for sale. Both in good working order. Samson AirLine Bass-Wireless system SOLD I bought this 3 or 4 years ago new. And since ive only really used it a handful of times. Its in perfect working order. Im looking for around £75. But you can make me an offer if you like. Next up is a Boss SYB-5. Ive also had this for a few years. It was a present which ive never really wanted. The a few scratches on the back but its in brilliant working order. Ide like £60 for this beast. But once again you can make me an offer. Sorry about the rubbish photos Thanks James
6.
Never really tried a Lakland, will do some research and get back to you.
Cool man. Lakland are nice basses. It just wasnt the bass for me.
7. you interested in a trade with a lakland 44-01?
8. Awesome. A bass like that would require one hell of an afro!
9. ive done Grease and Me and my Girl and i enjoyed playing in the band for both quite alot. But i really cannot stand watching and listening to the actual shows. I suppose i love the being the band part but not the whole finished product.
10. I have the DB115. Just a 15" speaker, no tweeters. Has a nice vintage like tone to it. Can be hard to hear sometimes so i put it onto of a beer crate or what ever is around. It really shifts some air to.
11. ok cool. awesome advice. I was planning for superstition to play similar to the synth on the recording by playing on the beat. I don't think i have ever learnt a song note for note so hopefully they wont be looking for someone that does learn songs 100%. Im really looking forward to it though, i haven't played with people for like 5 weeks so im dying to get the gig.
12. Over the last couple of weeks i posted a gumtree add saying that im looking for a band. I got quite a few replies, which were quite unexpected. I didnt think adverts on the net worked. Anyway i got a couple of replies for blues bands and a pop band but i also got a message from a pro drummer whos putting together a pro function band. Now im not sure what to do, i have to learn 3 songs, You've got the love by florence and the machine, Use Somebody by kings of leon and Superstition by stevie. Now these songs arnt really complex or anything but i dont know how i should play, should i try and impress with fancy fills and what not or should i just stick to the tracks and play simply and steady? Cheers James
13. Ok so i don't post on here to much but i spend a hell of a lot of time on here. Since ive joined ive learnt so much about the bass, different players and all sorts. I also think its made me into a better player. So i thought ide say thank you to everybody on here that makes this forum truly awesome. I salute your basschat!
14. thanks for all the nice comments . im guna have a go at Master Blaster tonight. as you can probably tell my my name i love that song! but yeh i really appreciate all the nice comments.
15. Hello, ive had this Lakland 44-01 for about a year and i loved it to start but the string spacing just was to wide for me and i never got used to it. So now i want to let it go to a home where someone will play it and love it. These are fabulous basses as some of you may agree. Its a sub £1000 bass that players and sounds like a bass worth twice its price tag. Im located in bournemouth so if anyone wants to have a viewing they're quite welcome. Heres some piccies. I would like £350 for this beast. Im also open to trades (basses only) Cheers James
16. Heres my first attempt at doing a youtube play along. I dont know if it played right and there are a few mistakes but heyho. Hope my playing doesnt put you of the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CSnnk7bhPs
17. doesn't nathen watts play keyboard bass to? the guy that played bass on Michael Jackson This is It dvd played a keyboard bass to i do believe
18. in my experiance theyre great for a few weeks. but after having to spend ages setting up all the dials right got abit teedius for me. played nicely though, looked rather cool. Personnaly ide say its not a good alternative to the jazz as the jazz wins hands down tonnally. THe active preamp was ok, the 2 band eq was quite tricky for me to use.
19. ive got and orange drop .47uf cap in mine and solid pots. if you look on the fender website you will find parts lists of all of its basses. that should help. http://www.fender.com/support/wiring_diagr...parts_lists.php
20. i use a 700rbII through an aguilar DB115. i used to use a rbx 410 which was quite good. i turned to a 15 to try and get more of a vintage tone. Which is awesome but when jamming it can be hard to hear everything that i play. ive started to take the rear casters of the cab now so it angles up and its easier to hear.
