  1. Thanks man! Honestly I'm not sure what the current strings are. I've been swapping back and forth between DR Sunbeams and Labella Flats, both sounded great. When I got my Ultra I put the sunbeams on that so this bass now has the strings the Ultra came with. They feel pretty similar to the sunbeams to be honest and have light blue windings at the top, maybe someone who's more of a string aficionado can tell from that!
  2. I've made a short video showing the range of tones this bass can produce. The playing's probably a bit loose by the standards of this forum (it was the end of a long day!😄) but it shows the raw tone of the bass very well - recorded through an Overstayer Modular Channel with a smidge of saturation but nothing else. Pure precision thwack and punch! Sounds fab in the mix, I'll make a vid of that too if it's not sold in the new few weeks. I've dropped the price to £100 less than I paid for it a couple of months ago. Thanks for watching
  3. Bought Ian's Precision Ultra, he was very friendly and helpful. We couldn't meet in person due to distance so he suggested a video chat to inspect the bass remotely. I paid by bank transfer - always a bit nerve-wracking when you haven't met in person - but Ian was completely honourable, packed the bass well and kept great comms until it was safely delivered. 100% recommendation, thanks Ian!
  4. Fender ‘62 reissue Vintage White Precision Bass. It's a CIJ Q-Serial which puts the build date from 2002-2004. I probably don't need to tell anyone here but just in case, these Crafted In Japan basses are generally considered as good as their USA counterparts but without the hefty price tag. It has a wonderful neck, fast and true. The truss rod is good and plenty of life left in the frets. I usually play a Jazz '62 reissue and had no problem flying around this thing. The tone is warm and thick with a nice solid open E, classic rosewood precision sound. I bought this in for a recording project that specifically wanted that sound and it didn't disappoint! Only selling now as I'm switching up to a Precision Ultra. There are general dings and wear around the body as you might expect from a well-used 19 year old bass. Particularly there are some scuffs on the top of the body that I've done my best to show in the photos. Personally I like my basses with a bit of character but please double check the pics if you're looking for an immaculate finish! Weight is a pleasant 3.9 kg, comes with a fender gig bag. I'm based in Walthamstow E17, 2 mins from the tube, or can meet any where around central London. Feel free to drop by and put it through its paces! I bought it used for £850 a month back, so that's the price I'm aiming to sell it for. Thanks for looking, Tony
  5. Hi all I nearly sold this gorgeous instrument 3 years ago but couldn't part with it. Now I've bought a Fender Ultra so it finally has to go! I've tried loads of acoustic basses (and owned a Warwick Alien for years) - the Takamine is the best. It really is as close as you can get to a double bass sound with an acoustic bass. Sounds good acoustically and records well with close miking. For live or recording the built-in cool tube preamp sounds really rich and thick straight into the desk or amp. It's generally in superb condition, with a few light dings here and there as you'd expect. There was slight damage to the 1/4" jack socket from the previous owner, so I had it professionally repaired and made good with a new jack plate by Noden Guitars on Denmark Street. Solid as a rock now. I also had fret dots inlaid into the top of the neck to make it easier to play for electric bassies like me. The stock strings have been replaced with Thomastik Infelds, which are insanely responsive in comparison, sound and feel great. It has a brass spike that can be used to play the bass standing in upright position. Lastly it comes with an amazing crocodile-effect hard case. Heavy, very rock and roll, fantastic for photo shoots and generally making an entrance! Very sad to let this beautiful instrument go but it feels like the right time - it's too nice to be resting in its case and the sale will fund my new Ultra. The cheapest UK retailer I can find is £2100 at the moment so save yourself £600! No offers thanks, the price is pre-haggled for your convenience I'm based in Walthamstow E17, very near the tube, or can meet up anywhere around central London. Thanks for looking! Tony
  6. Hi Peter, I meant the string itself has a little dent on it. Academic now - I did some recording with the bass this morning and realised I don't want to part with it! Withdrawing from sale Best, Tony
  7. Hi all my gorgeous Takamine TB10 is up for sale: I've tried loads of acoustic basses (and owned a Warwick Alien for years) - the Takamine is the best. I also had fret dots inlaid into the top of the neck to make it easier to play accurately. There is a slight ding in the E string around the note C which doesn't affect tone or playability, but is feelable, so you may want to replace that. It has a brass spike that can be used to play the bass standing in upright position. Lastly it comes with an amazing crocodile-effect hard case. Heavy, very rock and roll, fantastic for photo shoots and generally making an entrance! Bought in for a project which now ended, and it's too nice to leave around as decoration. I'll be sad to see it go though! Currently also listed on eBay with a low starting price: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Takamine-TB10-superb-electro-acoustic-bass-guitar-Warwick-Tacoma-Breedlove/302896570728?hash=item46860ae168:g:xJwAAOSwyEdbqS5P I'm based in Walthamstow E17, very near the tube, or can meet up anywhere around central London. Thanks for looking! Tony
  8. Hey Ben I already have something fairly similar but might be tempted to crossgrade if your P has better tone. Do you have any recordings/youtube clips? Best, Tony
  9. Just sold my Mayones Jabba Classic to Dimitris. Lovely guy to deal with, he asked if I'd send the bass over to Greece and was super fair about postage fees, Paypal charges. Parcel force screwed up and took a couple of extra days to deliver it to him, and again he was very chilled out and nice about it. I can recommend doing business with him without reservation - cheers Dimitris!
  10. Technically sold at the moment - I'll update the listing as soon as the deal's officially closed.
  11. Bump - there is a slight ding at the bottom of the body which I should've mentioned, I've attached a photo. Other than that it's as new and gorgeous!
  12. Mayones Super Jazz, Jabba Classic 4 with Aguilar pickups in a dirty blue burst. Incredible setup and action with the fastest neck I've ever played - the hype about Mayones construction is all true. Currently strung with Elixir 40-95s, it pretty much plays itself. The Aguilars give a really detailed and articulate sound, with heaps of bass but as much presence and cut as you could want. Only selling as I also have a vintage Jazz which works better with the music I'm making these days. These are about £1450 on bassdirect so grab yourself a bargain. Comes with a heavy duty Mayones gig bag. Even their gig bag kicks ass - the Fender gig bag I bought a few months ago is like a jiffy bag in comparison! **EDIT - there is a slight ding on the bottom of the body which it would be remiss of me not to mention. I've added a photo of it. Very minor and other than that it is as-new. Thanks for looking, Tony
