1.
have heard it from a few sources, maybe Daddario can confirm if this is true or not (i know they are active on this forum)
You are correct, they have been discontinued.
 2.
I've just noticed that I've been buying the long scale version of these strings. Would the medium scale ones fit a P bass? It says "for basses up to 34" scale length" so ought to be ok, right? Also, have the tensions changed since the new packaging came in? The figures given on my packet don't tally with those listed on the website.
Long scale strings are what we recommend for most 34" scale bass guitars. All of our medium scale sets have a usable string length of 34", most instruments require a string slightly longer than this to account for the 1" 1/2 to 2" of string between the bridge tailpiece and saddle. As for the tensions, we always recommend you go with what's on the packet as this will be the most up to date information.
 3.
Hi ead, Thanks for your perceived compassion regarding the sad loss of my D'addario mug. She was dearly loved for the short time that she was in my life, mostly warm and full of Yorkshire Tea. She knew my needs and wasn't even ill. She passed not knowing who Abraham Laboriel was and how much I admired his bass playing. My son is also still quite devastated at his carelessness which brought about the swift and sad demise of such a lovely mug. We will all miss her.
That post alone is worth a new mug, hopefully this one will last a bit longer ; )
 4.
Is the players circle also only for US/UK/Canada/Australia users? I'm still sad i couldn't enter the competion as i've been using D'Addario strings in all my basses for the last decade so i have a lot of sets that i could have registered in the comp. Well, maybe next time...
That is correct. We're working hard to make Players Circle available in as many territories as possible, keep an eye on the site for any news.
 5.
It's Mine, it's mine. I write this as I enjoy a brew in my new D'addario mug. Wow, never won anything like this before. Took delivery last week and the team at D'addario were just great to communicate with. Thanks so much to everyone who made this happen for me. Still going through everything that arrived in the three big boxes and my son has nicked some of the gear. He is a guitarist and thinks the Route 66 pedal is more suitable to his needs, he reminded me that I am just a bass player and he has never seen me use any pedals. Then he see's that there are other goodies that appeal to him. I guess it is gonna be Father/Son sharing time. It does remind me that "You gotta be in it to win it". Thanks again D'addario.
Congratulations to James and thanks to all who entered the competition! You can of course still sign up for Players Circle and earn points for your strings and accessories which can be redeemed for t-shirts, strings, accessories and perhaps most importantly high quality ceramic D'Addario mugs. 6.
Does anyone know if a 5 string set is in the pipeline? My bass is due a string change and setup pretty soon and I fancy giving these a go.
Hi Colleya, There are no plans for 5-string Balanced Tension sets that I'm aware of. As ixlramp suggests, you can pair your chosen set up with one of our single B strings. If you'd like to work out which one would be appropriate you can use our www.stringtensionpro.com website.
 7.
What's this about hotmail addresses getting flagged as fake ? Mine was accepted no problem. Now WTH are half set basses ? edit Classical guitar strings
Any issues with signing up to the site, please drop me a PM. As for the classical half sets, they're not available as a reward on Player's Circle. We do however have many other things to spend your points on.
 8.
Long scale Rotosound Swing Bass string or D'addario Nickels should do the trick. That's what I used on a reverse headstock LTD Phoenix 204
D'Addarrio bass strings are all 48" long. Our long scale bass strings begin to taper at 36 7/8"
 9.
Is the prize the whole bundle or are these multiple prizes to be divided between several lucky punters? It's not 100%clear.
The prize is the whole bundle, whoever wins this is going to be very happy!

 14.
Hi, have decided to broaden my range to stainless steel strings as i think i may be more likely to get the aggressive tone i am after, how are Daddario pro steels for aggressive tone? Thanks
ProSteels are one of our brightest sounding strings, we make many of our more popular gauges in short and medium scale sets in both steel and nickel plated steel. If you're still interested in trying some nickels from our range our NYXL Bass strings are the brightest nickel plated steel strings we manufacture.
 15.
Looks like its being sorted now, but I remembered the ball ends are colour coded, the E is plain brass if I remember correctly.
That's correct the colour code for bass strings are: B - Purple E - Brass A - Red D - Black G - Green C - Copper
 16.
Hello Guys, I just bought some D'addario strings 55 - 110. Suprisingly the 110 e-string was not much thicker than my old 100 e-string. Alle the other strings from the new set were way thicker than my old 45 - 100 set. The new e-string even seems just as thick as the new a-string (110 to 90). Is this normal? Or did i perhaps get a set of strings with a wrong e-string? Does anybody has any experience with those strings? BR
Hi BR, I've dropped you a PM, we'll try and get this figured out.
 17. Did somebody say D'Addario? To resolve some of the confusion XL is the brand name of our electric guitar and bass strings, not a reference to string length or size. The majority of our string sets are long scale i.e. designed for 34" scale instruments short, medium and super long scale strings are denoted by an S, M or SL at the end of the product code. Incidentally tapered singles are denoted by a T at the end of the product code. All of our bass strings are 48" long From the ball end the taper starts at: 32" for short scale 24" for medium scale 36 7/8" for long scale and 38" for super long Feel free to drop me a PM if you want to chat about any of this in more detail.
 18.
The only problem is, the 95 and 75 aren't on the site as singles
That is odd indeed, I'll get onto our colleagues in the US about them being missing from the site. I can however happily confirm that they exist. The codes are: PSB125 PSB100 PSB080 PSB055 or PSB120 PSB095 PSB075 PSB050 All available through Strings Direct as far as I can see.
 19.
It's ok, I think it'd be possible to have a Pro Steel set made up with similar gauges! Maybe D'Addario will be along to chime in shortly
In my best Bane voice "Speak of the devil and he shall appear" Your best options in ProSteels would be either EPS160 (.050 .070 .085 .105) or EPS230 (.055 .075 .090 .110). The aforementioned EXL160BT (.050 .067 .090 .120) is part of our balanced tension line which is currently only available in nickel plated steel. We've got a great tool at www.stringtensionpro.com for working out string gauges and tensions.
 20.
So I bought my first set of D'Addario ProSteel 5'ers just to try out something other than Rotos for once. Months later I get round to opening them, and guess what? No G string. No sign of the receipt either. D'oh. Is this business as usual for D'Addario, or am I just stupendously unlucky? Anyone else had anything like this happen?
Uh-oh D'Addario indeed! I can assure you that faults with our strings and packaging happen very infrequently. I've sent you a PM, we'll get you sorted right out.
 21.
According to the Spector website, the Euro 5LX comes fitted with D'addario XL-170-5 Nickel sets, which you can get over here. http://www.spectorbass.com/euro5lx
We don't do any sets that include tapered strings but we have got a full range of tapered singles. My recommendation would be to buy a 4 string set of the gauge you want and pair it with the appropriate tapered low B. For example to get the equivalent EXL170-5 set, buy an EXL170 set and a single XLB130T tapered .130 gauge B string.
 22.
Hi, can you please tell me if it is ok to use string cleaning products on the coated exp strings? Thanks
Sorry for the delayed reply, it shouldn't be necessary to use string cleaning products on EXP. Did you have anything in mind specifically? For all stringed instruments, the best thing to do is wash your hands before playing and wipe any excess sweat or muck off the strings with a cloth after playing.
 23. Hi Funkyjimbob, D'Addario make a wide range of gauges in our EXP coated string range. The best way for you to get a light "set" would be to custom build from singles or combine an EXP220 (40-95) with an EXPXLB125 .125 gauge low B. I hope this info helps! If you want any further info about our un-coated strings I'd be happy to take you through your options here also. Thanks,
 24. +1 for coated strings. The equivalent EXP set to EXL165 is EXP165. You can also buy EXL165 in a twin pack (EXL165TP) which will be cheaper than buying single sets.
