  1. **please note I am out of the country at the moment and will not be able to post until 20th July** Incredible fuzz that seems to be based on the Ibanez Standard Fuzz / Univox SuperFuzz circuit. This version is designed for bass. The controls are simple : a knob for volume and one for fuzz, a switch to turn it on and a switch to change the tone from mid scooped to mid boosted. It's got octave up qualities too and the mid-boost mode is totally brutal. It's the doomiest fuzz I own. Looking for £SOLD posted in UK, payment via PayPal gift/friends and family please.
  2. It sucks that Tech 21 stuff is so expensive in the UK but fortunately I'm on holiday in the States at the moment and my YYZ should be arriving this week!!! When I get back to Blighty, I'll do a vid and share my thoughts. The videos I've seen sound very good and very much like geddy... But that's from one guy who is specifically trying to sound like geddy. I'll see how it fares when not using jazz basses or Ric's. My Gibson LP DC Tribute bass is about as far away from Geddy as I can get and if I think the YYZ sounds great with that, then winner, winner, chicken dinner. If not, then I'm sure it will love my Ibanez.
  3. The Chunk Systems Brown Dog is excellent but quite rare and not cheap now if you can find one. The Fairfield Circuitry Unpleasant Suprise is great but although it does do the gated thing excellently, I felt it was more of a "noise" fuzz rather than a synth fuzz, if that makes any sense? I did a video where I used it a bit But didn't have the gate set high. It's here if you're interested: I've had a few mastotrons but always felt they benefitted from a clean blend as I couldn't get them to balance in a mix otherwise. The little bear bs-1 is a woolly mammoth clone that is pretty cheap but I quite enjoyed for the time I had it. The Redwitch Zeus was great as quite tweakable when you consider the trim pots. But as you already have the ON, I don't know if there's any point to having a functionally similar pedal
  4. By the way, I do have a spare non-chrome pickup cover if anyone wants to buy it from me? It's still metal but after getting it I wanted to get the shiny Chrome one to match the bridge
  5. Here's a shot of me from Saturday with mine. Babicz bridge, chrome thunderbird pickup cover and rosewood thumb rest!

  7. Here's my little board for practice tonight. Not used the Hofner Germanium Bass Fuzz with the band yet so I'm keen to see how it works in a mix.

  13. So, first band practice with the DC bass. The setup is two guitars and a drummer and we downtune Dropped D half a step (so drop c#?). Also I was standing across the room from the amp facing towards it but not directly. All these things (amongst others will influence my experience). Despite all my banging on about the coil tap, I found that the standard setting worked like a charm for me, it has this incredible growl that I just couldn't get enough of, with the coil tap shifting the influence from the mids to the treble and blending me into the mix a little more (I like to cut through though). The low end was great on all settings, thick and powerful. I will say that my forearm is a bit sore from resting on the body. Of course, a short scale bass would not normally be my first choice for a downtuned dense mix, but I think I'll be getting a second DC with thicker strings setup for this band and keep this one for other projects.
  14. Well apparently it's a Lp Bass bucker but looks to be in a tbird cover. My next task is to see if I can get a chrome cover for it
  15. I compared it to the 3-point on my grabber and I wouldn't say it's rounded, if I rested my hand in the bridge I think I'd be a bit uncomfortable
  16. To be honest, probably bugger all. I had no problem with the 3-point bridge but I just feel more comfortable with the extra adjustment options and the fact that I haven't got a whacking great gap between the strings and the body. I suppose the added mass can't hurt
  17. Never got round to weighing mine but I did put my Babicz Full contact on it
  18. Well I love the brown BUT it would otherwise have been the ebony. I've just listed my Grabber up for sale and if that goes I'll get another DC in ebony.
  19. Nah, IKEA! Fits the legit mid-century stuff in the living room well though.
  20. Thanks, I usually just do effects reviews (I like to hide behind fuzz) and shy away from putting myself Infront of the camera these days. It's a slab body, no contour whatsoever.
  21. **please note I am out of the country at the moment and will not be able to post until 17th July, collection can be done from the 15th July* Made in USA in 2009. This model was part of Gibson's 2009 Limited Run Series, with only 350 instruments initially made. This one is number 076. For those that don't know, the Grabber is pretty unique whereby it has a movable pickup you can slide closer to the bridge or closer to the neck for some variation in tone. This is a used guitar with some signs of wear. There is one long visible impression to the front of body as shown in pictures; minor scratches to pick guard and the rest of the body. No structural damages. There is some indentation where I had a Babicz Full contact bridge fitted, but I have replaced this with the original bridge. Please note that his guitar doesn't come in original Gibson case, however, a Gibson gigbag is included. I just got a short scale bass which I love so I'm gonna be listing more basses soon. I find the action a bit high for my liking so you may want to get a setup done but it's not got in the way of me impressing my band with it. It's got a thick and muscular tone that just powers through, it's so good, I sold my Flea Jazz (which I loved). I'm a pretty short guy and really want to make short scale basses work for me, so this one has to go. 22. Well the grabber is just a bit too big for me and I get the sound I want out of the DC with a similar vibe. I love the Mustang but it's definitely surplus and I've just never got a tone I've loved it of it. I did a video: go easy on me!
  23. Yep came with rounds. Balances great standing or sitting. Fit and finish seem excellent. I'm honestly so happy I'm gonna sell my Grabber and Mustang and get another one. I'll list them in the classifieds over the next few days.
  24. The coil tap is where it's at for me, it's literally a game changer for me. It turns a classic woody, round mid-heavy Gibson tone to something bright and modern You can really hear the zing of the coil tap in the second part of this run through:
