  1. I've got this song playing in my head but I cannot identify it. I've searched the web but had no luck. Basically, it's a rock song and has lyrics similar to " radio whoa oh" , this search did not produce what I'm looking for.

The song has crunch/ overdriven guitars in , it's dynamic and chorus is sung by multiple voices. I would add a quick guitar riff but it's getting late to play a guitar. Any ideas?

    It's not Queen...

Yes, Wiggle are good. I also use Chain Reaction, Evans, Cyclestore, Merlin and Tredz. I’ve had a good few chains and tyres from ebay stores, but I don’t usually buy things that might need returning off ebay.

    Evans what let me down!

Amazon win on delivery no doubt and their returns system is great.

They just don’t seem to be really competing in the bike space as the prices are so much higher.

I have considered wiggle for cycling stuff, would you recommend them?

Interesting. I buy quite a lot of bike consumables and clothing and Amazon never have what I want at a lower price than the online bike shops like Wiggle.

But do they deliver free next day?

  5. Unfortunately, small shops, don't stock some items due to shortage. For example, I couldn't buy a puncture repair kit from a big name cycle shop, the shop assistant wasn't even bothered by my presence, I was the only customer in the shop! Amazon delivered less than 24 hours later, same with other bicycle related kit etc.

Nowadays,  to obtain something from a shop is a nightmare. You need to go to several shops to find what you need, and the likelihood is they're out of stock. You waste time travelling , polluting with your car, parking, several hours gone, end up frustratred. Amazon delivers next day and I can use time I would spend shopping elsewhere. Although I am not happy that prime video charge if you want to watch some TV programmes.

Might be worth just contacting the guy and putting your cards on the table. Tell him that the song is not really your style and ask if he would consider swapping it for something else.

Nothing to lose at the end of the day.

I mean , I go through a phase where I listen to all sorts, but there are songs that I could not even give a try. I will suggest it today

  7. I've turned down two invitations on JMB

First band did cover songs I  didn't mind playing apart from  2 songs I wasn't sure. The female lead singer has the same pop dance move to every song including AC/DC, so I said that repertoire was not my cup of tea.

The second band clearly did not read my ad, they had some space ( cosmos) related title, even called themselves like someone from  star trek. I wonder what their dress code is.

Now, a local guy asked me to join a cover songs band. He plays guitar and sings.  His voice is good. He found a drummer that hasn't played for years and another guitar player. He suggested four songs to learn. I don't mind two. One is fine. But the fourth song is Michael  Kiwanuka. The song is a bit wishy washy, completely not my style.

Do I give it a go and learn something I don't enjoy and see what other suggestions they come up with in future or politely turn down.

That's nothing. I learned to play bass, guitar, piano and didgeridoo whiile I were still in't womb, wrote my first symphony in wax crayons by 6 months, and at 5 I played my ultra-famous paper-and-comb concerto with backing vocals by a troupe of trained colobus monkeys at the Albert Hall to an audience including the Queen, John F Kennedy, John Lennon, the Aga Khan and Shergar.

At 10 I was practising 26 hours a day while busking in Times Square and made my first million playing you-hum-it-I'll-play-it to Michael Jackson (he hardly touched me btw). I married Kylie and played a duet with my other wife, Dua Lipa, before divorcing them both and moving to a Brazilian favela to get real. These days I'm so over the whole music thing, I've deliberately unlearned how to play and am now learning sitar, playing only behind my head with my feet.

What's more, we never had any famous or musical types in our family. We would have got up 2 hours before going to bed in a hole in the road but it was full of fake Yorkshiremen so we had to wait. Etc

That's nothing. I invented music before the big bang.

I do hope that was typed on purpose 😂

I used to have the radio go quiet and pc access (non app) just stop when I was down south. I think flakey is an appropriate description.

That was a bloody predictive text haha

So. My planet rock phone app seems to shut down . My portable DAB radio works fine and plays planet rock, but can't get planet rock in car DAB radio.

Best listened to using the app, less adverts that way. Not that we have a choice up here, the PR radio signal is rubbish and unobtainable in the house, despite having a big åss aerial ☹️

My app seek to shut down every now and again. The radio works fine, but my car DAB not, starnge.

I’ve got a reasonable set of headphones & a decent set of monitors. I suppose it doesn’t help that I’m partially deaf & wear hearing aids, but even so, I can hear a massive difference between my stuff & other home producers’ stuff.

I’ve watched a few different folk on YouTube & there are a few really good ones, but I feel that an actual course from start to finish would be a benefit.

I've been recently using t racks mixing mastering software including master match, it's pretty good. Warren Huart has good deals on every now and then with other producers.

Yeah, I didn't imagine *you* needed showing that. And, yes, he does quickly demonstrate that all styles are possible on it, even with the SH flats.

I've just amused myself by comparing the tensions of Rotosound's Funkmaster set with their Steve Harris set: 107 lbs vs 252 lbs.

The only bass that can handle the Steve Harris signature flats is my sparkle blue bass. The other bass has Fender flats , they last longer and are cheaper.

At rehearsals last night I was trying different picks out

    Clayton Black Raven

Jim Dunlop Tortex Green 0.88 Triangle

    as above but Yellow 0.73

The first results were the Raven is a warmer darker sounding pick and closer to finger playing.

The JD Yellow Triangle was very bright and clear but a little flimsy for faster rock songs

    The winner is …

The 0.88 was bright and clear but good for faster rock songs and was the winner for a perfect pick

    Ordered some more today

Have a load of other picks that are no longer needed !

I reshape the worn out picks with a sandpaper, well for guitars

The specs of the MIJ blue sparkle does sound a bit more likely for a 1972 P than the MIM Hammers bass .... seems weird to slim down the neck at the same time as putting in the backbreaking maple body.

Here's a review from 10 years ago of the MIJ bass. It has a couple of entertaining moments

Thanks pal, I've seen it doesn't he slap the bass too😟
