I play upright bass in an acoustic band. It was formed by the guitarist and I was 2nd one in. Guitarist is very limited so I recruited fiddle player to add some lead. We also have drums/percussion. Female vocals have recently changed; guitarist chose her without consultation with rest of band and in my opinion she is also limited. Fiddle player loves it and is getting loads of gigs, guitarist loves that fiddle has improved the sound and is getting gigs. They are now getting gigs when I’m not available (I’ve missed last three) and it seems they are quite happy to go ahead without me. Guitarist has admitted she can’t hear the bass anyway, so I don’t think I’m much valued. So question is should I stay, or should I go? Waste of time, or worth sticking with it?
Can't hear or has she got selective listening? You need to ask yourself if you still enjoy it and is it worth it?

The posting Time stamps show that I beat you by 24minutes
I have added 2 further entries, but luckily today I am having a day off to play lego, star wars and pokemon and lots of others childish activities that I can legitimately blame on grandlittlelurks!
If not it would have been tonight before I could get to edit the poll and it could get messy by then.
I won't get strict on this as it is for fun and it is a rarity , but you know the score
My monkey business is copywriting so if you are planning to copy....

I think that was my question , where’s your song 😁There was a deadline but I’ll try to edit the poll in the morning 👍
I believe I added the song before the poll went on 😭😁

@lurksalot where's me song?

Here is my contribution- Monkey in the Jungle (or is it?)
I played intro and outro drums on my kit
Main guitars played on tele through Amplitube 4 and Bias FX
Guitar harmony solo in left channel played on Fender Strat with Floyd Rose
Fender P bass straight into interface, three tracks, added compression, Eq and distortion
Vocals are two tracks, track one has chorus and track two has distortion added
Main drums (minus the intro and outro) are EZ drums played on a keyboard.
Various keys and percussions added for colour
The whole mess was tidied up with T racks and Ableton mix/master tools
Lyrics :
I`m a monkey in the jungle feeling great
Panda , turtle and parrots are my friends
Climbing trees and picking fights are dares
When I`m bored I eat drink f*** and rest
Living in the jungle is my fate
Breading is my primary quest
It`s something I`ve been at my best
It`s a never-ending circle and my praise
I`m a leader of the pack that keeps me sane
Everyone that knows me think I`m vain
Most of you think I`m a bit too lame
It`s not for real it`s just a game

So... The fuse arrived, installed the new fuse recording the board with phone so I can trace the potential spark ...Well. The amp works and is loud as flip. The fan is quiet now after I cleaned it. Thanks all who advised. @Dad3353. lesson learnt.." don't meddle with things you don't understand" ..

Try Mouser or Farnell, personally eBay works for me.

Two faults I may or likely have done are.
1. After cleaning the fan , I didn't assemble the heatsink and fan using the screws that keep them isolated from the chassis, hence the spark...
2. The speaker wasn't connect to amp, it should have had a load no lower than 8 ohms.
Still waiting for fuses to re test, now everything connected as it should so fingers cross.

If anyone reads this thread, where are the places to get spare electronic parts, capacitors, PCB etc. E bay takes a long time...thanks

That board is the power amp; the active part that churns out the 100w is that multi-legged black thing at the bottom, under the heat sink. If the fuse has blown, with a spark or flash, it's very likely shot. It will do no further harm to replace the fuse with one of exactly the same rating; it will in all likelihood blow too. In that case, the amp is dead, but it may be possible to obtain a new power module, which is easy to replace (Plug'n'Play...). The power IC itself (the black thing...) costs about a fiver (TDA7293V...), but may blow again if there's other faults on that board. If you can't do this yourself, take it to a Good, Reliable Repair Man and get an estimate. It's not a hard fix for someone competent.
Hope this helps. Thanks, I've been pretty much watching You Tube videos this afternoon on replacing TDA93V or the whole power module. They're suggesting the same as you. The only thing I can't see is any discoloration of the soldering joint suggesting that the IC has had it. I try the fuse first, then the whole power module.
The only confusion is that the spark was from underneath the yellow capacitor 100 nj63. I ordered 20 fuses so I have a "play" tomorrow. I had the amp less than a week 😁

I recently bought a second hand Marshall MG100DFX. The fan was a bit too loud so I cleaned it out. The fan and the cooling unit were dusty. For a good measure I sprayed a bit of switch cleaner in the fan and all the potentiometers. I plugged the amp in to test if the fan would be quite. I forgot to plug in the speaker. As I switched it on , there was a piping sound and a small flash next to the cooling unit. The amp doesn't work. The T1.6AL fuse on the pcb is blown. I read that replacing the fuse and trying again may cause further damage , so a bit reluctant to replace the fuse. Anyone can suggest what the issue may be or is it money down the drain?

Thanks all, Iooks like lots of research ahead of building

Surely if I know the speakers came from a 2x12 TC bass cab, I can use the cabinet specs to build it?
-
This seems pretty heavy going, but is there a way of working out the dimensions of the cab if I know what speakers I'm using?

Remember that the speaker has to be chosen after the cab: sealed construction needs different T/S parametres.
Hi. Unfortunately that means nothing to me sorry, as I said the technical figures no comprendo. Don't know what T/S is without Googleing😁 but perhaps you could educate me

I don't gig but this will take up your whole day.
-
Thanks, that what I was after as Steve Harris uses sealed Marshall cabinets with EV speakers.

I'm planning to build a 2x 12 bass cab. I've got a delimma , sealed bass cab or ported. I found some information that ported gives better frequency response and sealed may sound muddy but have more low end. I thought ported cabs give more low end. I've got a Fender rumble 100 and it's ported and the bottom end is deep, but with a 15 inch speaker.
I'm looking for an overall solution maybe geared towards mid frequencies? I'm not into technical frequency graph response charts as they mean nothing to me. The question is sealed or ported? Any suggestions please?

If I sell an item, not on BC, I make it clear:
" collection only" . But, I still get messages, can you deliver? , when I reply no sorry, they often come back with a sob story.
But must say that BC are top blokes/girls, most go extra mile when selling or giving away for free.
