Buy some other bits at the same time. Components are expensive if you buy them one at a time.

That makes sense , wish we lived in 80s when these were available in some high street shops.

As @itu states that model has a revision using 39uF and that would tie in with the 39 on the case.

Not sure why there's not plastic sleeve on it though.

The plastic sleeve makes it harder to search, would a 49uf 400 volt work. Like this one.

  3. Can someone identify this capacitor. It's on a PS1 power board. The top looks a bit bulge so I think need replacing . The power board fuse keeps blowing everytine I plug in the power supply. I think I may try to replace the capacitor once I have the correct one. Picture of capacitor and fuse space . Thank you

How did I forget Fear Factory - Demanufacture and Obsolete are two of my favourite B string-centric albums.

Abyss by Unleash The Archers is a recent banger, also in B standard.

Psycroptic have guitars in drop D, I think, but the bassist plays a 5 live.

Last year I bought a feat factory vinyl, fh it's some heavy tunes in there.

As SH73 mentioned drop D tuning, I remembered why I got my first five string. It was during the height of Nu-Metal and I wanted access to that D. But, rather than hobble a bass by keeping it in drop D, I figured a five string would be more versatile.

Also, C# standard is quite a common tuning. Tuning up to it on a five string works really well. No more flubby bottom string.

I think Cradle of Filth do a lot in C#.

This , every time I play along in a dropped D to a song or two it's followed by standard e tuning. Easier to get a cheap 5 er

Jason Newstead played a 5 string a lot when he was in Metallica. I couldn't tell you which songs, though. I'm not really a fan of their music, just remember the basses. He's a very good bass player though, for sure.

He plays a six string on the Sad But True during Freddie Mercury tribute at Wembley in 92. The song is in dropped D tuning.

David Ellefson plays a five stringer but not sure what songs he uses them for.

Maybe some death metal songs, there are BC members who post  metal playing ( usually plays heavy stuff) in show us your playing video? Maybe they could advice, they post some great skills

  7. I returned to bass playing around 2010 and ever since I wanted to play in a band again, but I can't think of anything worse than gigging late night packing up worrying about parking close to the venue, having my gear stolen etc. When the first covid restrictions were lifted I went to a pub gig and watched the band packing, they seemed to pack their own gear. Maybe it was their arrangement. If it was me gigging , I'd get a lightweight cab, and me gone before the singer says thank you to punters.

Went home and checked t'Interweb for bad grammar and punctuation.

(... and, for pedagogic reference, it should be 'What exactly did you did do after your last gig..?' :friends:...)

Even then 'most recent gig' would be better than 'last gig', except for those really ending their playing career, but that's simply pedantry. -_-

I'm disappointed you not posting no police grammar vehicle.

  9. The simple explanation I can offer is that you can do a research on You Tube (some good some misleading tutorials).

I started recording when I joined BC and since I've learnt a tiny if information.

Before you buy anything make sure your PC, laptop, I pad or whatever you use, the operating system is compatible with the audio interface.

What I did, a basic starting point.: I bought an audio interface " Focusrite Scarlett 2i2". It has two inputs. This came with a free DAW, Ableton live. Most interfaces you buy will come with a free DAW.

You plug the Focusrite Scarlett to your PC via USB, use the instructions  to download package and set it up. ( It comes with a code etc).

Next step is to download your DAW to your PC/ laptop or whatever you use , then when you open the DAW you set up the preferences, audio in/out. I found the set up the most frustrating part but there are plenty of tutorial videos online.

Once it's all set up and your audio interface is connected . You plug an instrument into the interface audio and begin a new frustrating process of learning how to record etc. You will get there eventually.
