I was banned from TB in 2003.
True story.
I was told off then verbally attacked by users for asking advice on a built project. Very bizarre.

I have a lowest spec Squier PJ bass ( which I got purely as most of my other stuff is in bits and I'm running out of playable instruments ) it plays and sounds great, just as it came, strings and all.
I'll be the "inverted snob" then..
To be fair , I couldn't probably even tell you blond folded if I played my Squier p bass as it came originally or the minor upgrades. As long as the strings and neck feels right, the style of your playing will produce that sweet sound.

My most comfortable bass to play is a second hand Squier p bass, added a fender high mass bridge , SPB 1 pick up, flat strings and done.

If that is the case there are several fallen trees in the local woods which I can sell for £200 for 10lb.
Plenty of wood in the alleyway I'm clearing out too. For free

It would have been quicker for him to adjust the tilter himself - what a tool!
Agreed. To me it looks like an excuse. If you watch closely, he went for Tom's instead of continuing hitting the crash.

My parents would have various AM stations on. My dad would also listen to Radio Free Europe, forbidden station during Cold War.
He had a collection of Elvis Presley, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Buddy Holly and various 50s and 60s rock and roll played on a reel to reel valve player.
We used to listen the usual rock/pop hits in very early 80s when I quickly got influenced by metal, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Scorpions, Anthrax, Annihilator, AC/DC, Kreator, Sepultura and likes.

I advertised my Carlsboro valve amp on eBay with a collection only stipulation. Someone clicked the buy button, then immediately emailed me to say "I'm sorry it's not looking good for collection, but if you package up the amp I'll have Royal Mail collect it."
When I pointed out this wasn't going to happen and that his idiocy had cost me money and wasted my time, he started getting aggressive about it.
I appreciate this is an entirely pointless post, but I just wanted to vent somewhere. Ebay idiots, eh?
Not just eBay, Shpock, Gumtree similar. Can you deliver? Is one of the questions..
Over the weekend I sold two Squier guitars on Gumtree I wanted to sell them for a couple of years now to finance a project guitar, but was in no rush selling them, the ads had pictures of every dent, scratch and this was also mentioned in the description. When one seller turned up yesterday, I pointed these out minor tear and wear. I also provided a new set of strings, still in original unsealed packaging, also in the description. He wasn't aware. Obviously he didn't read the add but it seems that he looked at the main photo only. He said, does it come with an amp? I said you can have an amp but that will be extra so and so. Anyway, I felt generous and felt bit sorry for the youngster so reduced the price at door step. Saturday, sold the other Squier, i put it on hold for someone for a week, they collected it but the questions were never ending. I also gave them a discount at the door step. Both were happy. I think one with locking tuners I put on and new strings they got a bargain.
Not music related, but I put a perfectly working washing machine on Gumtree on Friday for sale, very cheap. It sat in the utility room unused for a year, we thought we use it as a back up...don't know why..never did.within 2 hours it was collected. I gave it out for free even helped loading it in a car. It was my intention to just give it away, and the buyer was shocked as he desperately needed a washing machine. I didn't want to advertise for free knowing it would end up in scrap.

This really is the best place to buy and sell basses on the net. The pricing of instruments on here, seems to reflect the real market value a lot better (most of the time).
I've been looking for a particular type of bass recently, and have been scouring Reverb, eBay, FB Marketplace daily for it, and the prices are mental across the board - this is the only place where it seems to be *right*
100% agreed. On other website buyers mainly hassle to underpay so they can sell on.

Hit parade, haven't heard that term since 80s when we used to listen to radio and record songs on a cassette.

If you change the strings , is that still original?

In 2000, when I worked as a waiter, I served Gary Moore lunch at a seaside restaurant. I asked him if he was gigging in the area, and he simply answered, no just visiting family. Still have his autograph somewhere.

Another nod to Sonarworks Reference for hearing curve adjustments, works a treat, but makes the room a difficult listen for anyone else...!
Try investing in a good Spectrum analyser as a visual representation, I use the Nugen Audio Visualiser https://nugenaudio.com/visualizer
You can look at the reference tracks and compare the output curves.
I have T Racks 5 mixing /mastering plug ins , this has a master match plug in, which is what I use sometimes to give some guidance.

Thanks chaps nothing wrong with Ziggy Stardust. And don't you start with black white TV.
I use reference songs and even have master match software unfortunately it's not be all end all. Luckily my missus is a hearing aid professional so getting it sorted won't be an issue, but the I will not have excuse not to hear what she says 😃 suppose every cloud....

I am certain that some of you veteran musicians or bedroom musicians sport a pair of hearing aids. Whether anyone chooses to wear them it's a personal choice. I have noticed that I don't respond well to certain frequencies when someone talks to me from a distance or from a different room, phone lines can be troublesome if the reception is bad. This may obviously have an impact how I mix my music and my end result often ends up muddy regardless using eq, comp, panning etc. etc.
Surely if I had deficiency hearing certain frequencies, hearing aids would or could potentially improve my mixing/ mastering. Any thoughts?

I'd love to see pictures of you have the time.
(Apologies for the thread hijack. But it's kind of on topic 😆 )
The guitar sits collecting dust at my parents house. Has done for over 25 years. Will retrieve it eventually.

Yup. Sounds familiar. I had a well worn Ibanez copy which was probably better built than the original. I traded it in for £50 against a guitar when I was about 18. What was I thinking?!
I was similar age, and liked the 1991 Metallica Black album era, so I modified the Ricky copy to match Newsteds bass. Still have it.
