A friend of mine used to run a drum shop. People would go in, try everything, ask advice, and then go and buy from an online shop because it was a dollar cheaper. Now there's no local drum shop, and the punters complain they can't try anything out.

Buy online and you don't like it when it arrives, there's a surprise!

Agreed, Three music stores closed in Kent's biggest town. I didn't realise last one closed months ago. I would go and buy small things every now and again. I bought amp, guitar, endless strings, picks, etc. Feel sorry for them, really down to earth staff and the owner.

Two other that closed a few years back had impressive stock of amps , speakers, drums , anything you wanted. if not in stock ordered it. Real shame and sad times.

  2. I am not a big fan of effects in the bass, maybe a DI pedal or small compact TC compressor. Have you tried switching one off or do combinations to find the culprit. Maybe a different order of plugging may help. When I use guitar effect, I'd put noise gate as last after e.g. chorus, delay, reverb. Have you tried FX return?

Probably my second favourite Iron Maiden album, after Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

I think Killers and the Seventh Son are both well mixed, they seem to sound crystal clear.

Although Piece of Mind is probably my overall favourite as it  sounds raw mid range to me, drums are outstanding. When I first heard Seventh Son on LP a day or two after released I was already an established Maiden fan, but it was just like new dimension and still is. The quality of the sound has never been repeated and definitely not after Martin Burch' s departure.

Hey guys, this is my first entry, so go easy on me! In fact, it's my first recorded bass guitar line since about 2006!... New Years' Resolution has got me going on some music again, which can only be a good thing. It's not really finished - I have had time to neither write nor record lyrics, but here it is so far - Midwinter Daiquiri:

    Midwinter Daiquiri on SoundCloud

(can anyone help - I can't work out how to embed the SoundCloud track like the other entries...?)

The bass is an Ibanez EHB1506MS six string fan-fret, electric guitar is a Strandberg seven string fan-fret, put together with Cubase 12 featuring a bit of Native Instruments' Session Horns.

    I hope you enjoy!
    Cheers,
    Dave

Have you tried copying the link? Loving your song

  5. Song about a zoo and ice cream that makes no sense at all. the lyrics don`t. I tried reggae this time. I played and recorded the drums first, kick, snare rim, and hat, the beat has a slight variation in the chorus. Four guitar tracks recorded  with SM57 against Marshall amp , one with a wah.

Bass recorded with  AKG d112 against bass amp. steel drums and trumpets played with a keyboard. Four vocal (ish) tracks recorded separately. Once the vocals recorded, I added few percussions with my drum kit, snare , toms, cow bell, cymbals etc.

  6. When I logged into my BC account a few minutes ago from my mobile phone, I had a notification in the top right corner that I had two new personal messages. At the bottom of the app a brief message with the word "spam" showed up. When I clicked on the envelope icon , there were no new messages. Does BC automatically delete/filters out these?
