Thanks for your replies. I'll take it that you all think I should `shut up' and keep the TD650! It was just one of those, um, `do I need a smaller amp' moments. Thanks to you all that has now gone and I'm back in the land of the sane. Bremen, ever since I first switched on the amp I realised how lucky I am and never take my gear for granted. It's just that since I've lightened my cabs the EBS feels heavy and it was a `power to weight' consideration. Cheers Charla

I have an EBS TD650 which I run into a Dr Bass 2460 4ohm cab, I've never had the volume past 11 o'clock (about 5, it does go up to 11!) and most of the time I run it at under a quarter of its potential. Is the extra power wasted on me? Should I go for a TD350 or similar amp? Or is the extra headroom worth it?
  4. I've got a maple neck fretless Precision, which was converted from fretted. Obviously when you pull out the frets there is damage to the finish of the neck which has to be stripped back so its best to refinish the neck with something hard wearing; I didn't do this myself and got a local luthier to do the work, that was back in 1989 and the neck still looks good and I use roundwounds! Cheers Charla
  5. Ampeg 4x10 sold to Tom; a nice chap and I hope he enjoys the Cab this old codger was having problems lifting!!! Ashdowns still available. Cheers Charla
  6. Check the lights at the venue; I had a similar problem which was caused by a rather curious decorative light and the problem was solved as soon as it was switched off. First thing I ask them to do when I play there! Cheers Charla

  14. Having just bought a lightweight Cab I need to move some of my cabinets; I don't need / want to sell everything so I'll see what the interest is: Ampeg 4x10HE 8ohm 500 watt cabinet, good nick with the usual gig scrapes: £250 Ashdown 2 x 10 & 1 x 15 Compact Cabs both are the old style 8ohm / 400 wattt and come with `Tuff Stuff' Padded Covers: £150 each? Feel free to make me an offer, you can find me 14 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne. Cheers Charla

Alas Arthur (yes he does look like Mike Harding) left the Band a long while ago, started a Band called East Bay with the impressive Dave Riddell on Bass. Nope I'm not an Alan, names Ian but everyone knows me as Charla: It's Spanish for talk or chat, which is what happens when I drink too much of Mr Daniel's golden nectar, but the name goes way back into the Dark Ages!

Ah well there's a question: I'm the proud owner of an EBS td650, and love it, it's heavy but worth every ounce. As for Bands, I'm a bit greedy: up until last year my main band, Alive and Kicking, hadn't been working for over a year, so I joined two other Bands to keep me occupied; The Fabulous Balls Brothers and All Shine No Shoes. So now I find myself in three Bands and still don't play every weekend. Previous bands have been The Fabulous Road Runners and the Rhythm Method. Frankly I was disappointed not to get the call to play with The Who or The Rolling Stones, but my Psychiatrist says that treatment is helping with my delusional thoughts! Cheers Charla NB I do not accept responsibility of any of the Band Names

But what about the Dr Bass Cabs? Well you'll be pleased to know (or not as the case may be) that I've taken the plunge and ordered the cab. Now I've just got to decide whether to keep my Ampeg 4 x 10 HE / Ashdown ABM 115 and ABM 2 x 10 compact Cabs? I also have an Ashdown ABM 500 amp, so if anyone wants a rig, just drop me a PM Cheers Charla

And guitarists and drummers, Bubbles can be a bit of a Ashington musos gig! I'll bring my wife to meet Mr Warwickhunt, fortunately she's not from Bedlington or Blyth, and she has a good sense of humour (or does she?). Hope to see you there? Charla

Thanks for your responses, really useful and they are helping me make a decision. Marcus, I live in Bedlington (someone has to!) and will try to get to Bubbles on Saturday, can't miss me, I'm the big bloke with beard and glasses!!! Cheers Charla

After being a 4 x 10 man for some while I'm on the verge of buying a Dr Bass 2460 cab. Does anyone have experience of these cabs and what are your thoughts? Cheers Charla
  21. I'd buy this, but I live in Northumberland, so it would be a bit of a journey to pick it up; would you consider posting? Charla
  22. I've been away for a few days and have just seen the replies and appreciate the support given by fellow bassists. Sorry about the confusion, but I was referring to the Fender Marcus Miller 5 string, I feel a bit of a dork for not making this clear in my first post, Doh! However, I am seriously considering the East pre amp, I don't know if other owners of these basses find them noisy in certain situations but I've just got to make a change. I had the bass checked by my local tech (I live just around the corner to Jez Arkless, the man in the North East to see if you want your valve amps repaired) and he said it was okay, but at certain gigs it clicks and hums! Cheers Charla
  23. I have a MM 5 String and I'm thinking about installing the MM East preamp, the main reason being the the Fender Pre can be noisy and is susceptible to picking up `bad earth' noise at certain gigs. Can anyone comment on the MM East pre as compared with the Fender? Cheers Charla
