1. Nice one, thanks guys. Some great suggestions there. Cheers.
2. I've decided to bite the bullet and try to sing (properly) whilst playing. Any suggestions of easy songs to start with? Just simple or good songs that won't be too hard to start with - i appreciate it doesn't happen overnight and that a lot of effort is needed for it. For example "My Friends" by the chili peppers has seemed to be a good starting block so far..
3. Sure. no worries, will do. I won't put any up yet as we've not done a show yet - although it'd be an interesting way to hand in my notice if i did!
4. Not exactly my gig and maybe not really for this thread, but we've just finished rehearsals for the Queen & Paul Rodgers tour (i'm working on it, not playing - unfortunately). We fly off to Ukraine tomorrow for the start of the tour and beyond!. The band were sounding great and it's polished show, so should be a good tour.
5. I "suffer" from a similar problem. I spend a lot of time touring and away from home (unfortunately not playing!) so the limited time i do get to play is mainly spent looking at the fretboard and stressing over what i should and shouldn't be practicing. So by the time i put the beast to bed and go and do something else, I walk away disheartened and feel like maybe playing isn't for me anymore. When i do get to play in a band, it all comes back to me and reminds me exactly why i love playing. Unfortunately i seem to be more into playing when i don't have a bass in my hands, maybe 'cos i can't do it at that particular time!!
6. After listening to too much Victor, i've tried several times to play this way. Every time i end up getting disheartened after several weeks of practice and feel that I should be using my time more productively and practicing other stuff. Of course now this topic has been brought up i'll no doubt spend many more hours in the next few weeks trying it again!
7.
In about 1986, I humped gear for a Level 42 gig. At the end of the night, as we were packing and loading PA, Mark King's guitar tech was restringing EVERY ONE of the dozen or so basses that he had on the tour. Apparently he did this EVERY NIGHT, whether the basses had been played or not. The "old" strings were simply discarded on the floor of the hall. Me and the other bass players on the humping crew gathered them up and split them between us. I got about four sets that were essentially brand new. Since I had no money to buy new strings, these ones kept me going for a good couple of years... Nobody ever said that his strings made me sound like him though. (Just as well, since they were one of my least favourite bands ever...) The strings budget for their tours must have been unbelievable...
In recent times the strings that have come off, have been sold to fans and the money goes to charity at the end of the tour.

10.
Theres another identical thread just four threads down.
Ha Ha! shows how much attention i pay! Sorry, i did do a quick search but nothing came up. Thanks for the replies...
11. I've seen them on the Diago website, and the gigrig website and was wondering if any of you have any experience with them? They seem like a great idea, with the customisable lengths and allegedly "gives you maximum signal transmission, crystal-clear highs and is extremely flexible." Their website is: http://www.georgels.co.uk/ I'm not 100% convinced, and as they're customisable it's kinda hard to try them out for the purpose i'd want them for. Considering the state of my pedal board, being able to choose the lengths of the cable seems like a great idea, but before i splash the cash, i thought i'd do a quick post on here. Cheers.
12. I'm thinking of selling mine, it's a bit redundant, thanks to some other toys I've got. Mint condition, but i've lost the box - thanks to a house move. How much do these babies go for, second hand?
13.
Do you know to write a big band chart? Then f*** o**
ha ha, no i don't. Obviously No offence was intended!
14. I'm not at home and don't have it with me, but, according to the official manual on my computer, it is 280.8 x 210.4 x 39mm, weighs 1.1kg and uses a 9V DC power source, drawing 400mA. I power mine from my gigrig generator, and used to power it from a diago power station. Hope this helps
15.
oo very interesting, in that case you can give a direct comparison between the deep impact and the korg??
I'm not really an uber-tone fanatic so i can't really give an in depth review of the pedals. Both are very good, i tended to use the G5 as an auto-wah-cum-multi-fx pedal. The ability to store different settings on all of the different banks is great and did exactly what i needed it to. I used two banks as mirrors of each other, with the 3 pedals having similar stored settings but with different input values, so i could swap between my active and passive bass without having to adjust the input value / sensitivity of the auto wah. Each pedal on each bank had different setups of auto wah. The third bank had an external expression pedal used on it (occasionally!) and a couple of other funky synth setups on it. The deep impact was what i generally used for synthy sounds. Most of the presets were ace, and further playing with the parameters gave some very usable and good quality sounds, from the subtle drone, right through to alien space ships landing in a field full of sheep. I'm useless at putting into words the sounds they actually made, but as far as using the sounds, both pedals were of top quality and had no problems with tracking or pitch etc.. The Deep impact is built like a tank and is the ultimate daddy of synth pedals, it was a shame to let it go but i never used it to it's fullest potential so had to. The G5 is also awesome. As i said, i only really used it as a pedal with multiple set ups of auto-wah, which it did fantastically well, as i had the deep impact i didn't really use all of the G5's functions. Both great pedals, and were / are reluctant sales. It's not really the best review / insight in the world but i'm not a journalist! Here's hoping the G5 goes to a good home!
16. The Deep impact was mine too, it's the january sales at my place at the moment. So much stuff, just kicking around not doing much.
17. Another pedal is ready to be released from my collection! It's a year old, in very good condition, some minor adhesive marks on the base from some velcro. Boxed and with manual. Collect or i can send it at buyer's cost. (I live in south east london - Forest Hill) £60 or sensible offer.
18. Time for round 2 of my great effects pedal cull. It's in very good condition, with manual and PSU. I've never gigged it and it's only had bedroom use. I bought it about a year ago and i'm looking to sell it for what i bought it for. £150. Buyer collects or i can send it at buyer's cost. (I live in south East london - Forest Hill). I could put it on e-bay, but i thought i'd pop it on here first to see if anyone wanted it.
19. So let me get this straight, just so i'm clear on this, 'cos i'm not too sure what you're trying to say.... You can use any cab, with any amp, just as long as you only adjust the volume control with your right hand?? Or is it and cab, any amp as long as you're only standing on your left foot...... :brow: :brow:
