I'm writing a book on him and Nile Rodgers - it will have 20 transcriptions (bass and guitar) and hopefullly lots of detail - tricky, as you say, there's not a lot of info out there on him. STu
I'd buy that! Can I pre-order one and get the charts now?

Hello Folks, A mate of mine pulled together this list of jam sessions in the South East incl London. Most of them are jazz sessions but some of them also do blues, rock, pop etc. As you can see there are sessions basically every day of the week. So – get up, get on the scene, get on uppa…… See you there! PS. Just got back from a really good session at Havan BA ar in Windsor...Played for 1 1/2 hour....stuff by James Brown, Jaco, Stevie Wonder, Johnson Bros, Mingue, Miles.....wicked! Darn - how do I upload an excel file????

Hmmmm....I have the flightcase which is a wonderful little amp...more powerful than the briefcase (completely underpowered if you ask me), very light and sounds fab. I use for all my acoustic/upright gigs and some smaller electric ones two especially when I play softer music and doesn’t have to compete with Marshall stacks....I have played the suitcase with an extension cab and I think it sounds great. I wasn’t too convinced about its portability though as it is quite heavy and a bit awkward to carry thanks to the placement of the handles. For me a 300w amp is a bit over kill for home practice as missus E forces me to put on my cans anyway…..

hello! I've been thinkg about getting a NM410 for sometime now.....how is it? how is compared to the CXL's? I've got an iAmp800 and two CXL's and it's sounds awsome but I kinda miss the sound of a 410 and the NM410 would probably be a good match for the iAmp. What's your thoughts?
The more "modern" F1X is a bit better equiped, (with the same eq) but only has the one channel. How would you say that the F-1X sounds? would it work with a 5 string bass? Some say that the alembic units are a bit limited for low b strings. BB
'Custom Shop', 'Limited Edition', 'Anniversary' blah blah blah
carlosfandango replied to Beedster's topic in Bass Guitars
Not to mention all "endorsed" signature basses out there! I guess the manufacturers needs to do it to keep up the interest for their products. it's quite amazing when you think of it - the electric guitar was invented in the early 50's (well, it depends how you see it) and it became a "perfect" product very fast - very few really groundbreaking changes to the basic concept in over 50 years! Quite unique if you compare to other consumer products like home electronics and cars. So if you can't change the product - change the packaging! Do we really need that many options - not really. But you have to admit that is kinda fun to glance through the latest fender catalogue and compare different versions of a jazz bass and dream about which one that would suit your style best. Variety is the spice of life. -
I use the Micro BR with a Sony stereo mic....fantastic. Records in MP3 of WAW format and it's dead easy to hook up to PC and transfer files and put on CD etc. On top ov that it's a 4 track portastudio, tuner, rythm machine, fx unit, trainer (you can lsow down tunes), MP3 player....the swiss army knife of the modern musician!
Hi, Looking for a portable recording device for recording live shows - nothing complex, stereo mikes only with subsequent transferring to CD. Been looking at the "new" Boss Microstudio and the Zoom H4. Anyone got any thoughts or strong view on either product, or indeed whether there are any other recommendations. Cheers, John
It's the RMX 2450 I borrowed a friends pre (ampeg) and it sounded really good with the poweramp. Couldn't crank up but what I heard was encouraging. A bit like my SVT Pro4 that I had for years....still don't understand why I got rid of it.....well well.....the price you pay fo GAS i guess!
Which QSC power amp is it? Some require quite a hot preamp output voltage to drive them to full volume. Alex

The first to come to mind is the Read Custom Purity - sadly discontinued. Or the Kern - likewise... Eden Navigator, Aguilar DB-659 or 680, SWR Interstellar Overdrive, Warwick Quadruplet? How about the Sansamp RBI or RPM for a cheaper alternative? This may help: http://www.basstasters.com/preamps/ Alex
ahhaa....yes I completely forgotten about this site. this will keep me busy for some time I love the aguilar stuff, The sansamp are not bad either although different. many thanx!

hello! We just got some new active speakers for our PA and I bought our trusty QSC poweramp with the ambition to build a loud and ballsy pre/power amp set up. I'm looking for somehting rahter differnet to my iAmp - I'm thinking not so high-tech but more rootsy and ballsy, but still witht he versatility a pre/poweramp offers. Ampeg? V-Type? Almebic? Live 6? So - what do you suggest? What's your experiences?
.........I'm toying with the idea of selling a Stage II in black which is considerably rarer than the Stage I and I know for a fact I'm going to struggle, so I'll be holding off till later in the year.
Hi, any pic's of the black stage II? Sounds interesting!
I really don't know why. The tone is excellent, it is nice and compact. Two seperate inputs with seperate eq. Well built, well designed. Peronsally I think it looks good....You know, the more I think about it the more I should keep mine!?
I would agree. My only caviat is that it is quite heavy and a bit awquard to carry..... btw - why are you selling yours? How much do you ask for the two?
Band sounds ok. Could be a fun little side gig to take the 4-string J out on - would just have to keep my secret slap habit secret. With things like this I always wonder why they sacked their last bass player. Didn't look good enough in a suit, perhaps?
Ot maybe he (god forbid) slapped a few notes on a rehersal (in his suit though)
