2. The Beatles FTW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_1PAx5Ycwo
3. My current rig. Loving it, especially the new P-Bass.
4. Apparently it was one of these ... http://www.fretbase.com/blog/tag/maestro-bass-brassmaster/ This would make sense given what was available at the time... Here's another example of the sound: http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/song/_Don_...ng_To_Go/223424
5.
Poke a few holes in your speakers with a screwdriver.................
That sounds only slightly less believable than the 'big muff' theory I have just read... Both IME have sounds alot harsher than what ended up on record. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9nwcpGZE6A Groove
6. That was quick ! Thanks. Going to do some research now. Any nerdy info on the fuzz sound before I go ? Thanks again.
7. Big influence on my guitar playing, and one of the reasons I picked up a bass in the first place. Have been revisiting some of the tracks that caught my attention in my late teens tonight and realised I have no idea who played bass on these albums ? Specifically 'Curtis', 'Roots' and the 'Superfly' soundtrack. My dream is to somehow get away with having a function band that had 1/3 Curtis songs in a set . Extra bonus points to whoever knows how that warm fuzz was achieved on the likes of 'Beautiful brother of mine' etc. http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/song/Beaut...rsion_/21230699 Gotta love that percussion player too... Cheers, Nathan

10. Hi, I am using the only the power-amp section of the Eden at the moment, with the newly acquired Sadowsky pedal preforming preamp duties. I just can't get on with the valve-y sound of the preamp...I think I just want clean and loud. Considering just getting a QSC or similar and running the Sadowsky straight into that, but am interested also in amps by Hartke, Genz-Benz and Aguilar. Tea and biscuits also available if anyone wants to visit the rehearsal room to try it out. I am located in Waterford, Ireland. Thanks for looking. Nathan
11. Gotta be props...I would hate to be the FOH sound engineer for that gig otherwise.
12. Thanks guys, in my haste I must admit I didn't pay attention to the weight. Normally slightly heavy basses don't bother me, but this is a bit extreme. I have to say that the 70s lore always seemed justified in my mind as I have played several 70s fenders in studios in Ireland, and they all had something special. Admittedly these were probably good ones, and this is why all offers to buy them were refused. I have played one particularly nice 2009 precision in the local shop, and everything about it is just quality. It's in Oly White / Tort with a rosewood neck, not my first choice of finish...but...it's definitely a really good one and can be paid for in instalments. Thanks all for clearing the grass-is-greener GAS and helping me to stay with the bird in the hand, (to drunkenly mix metaphors). Cheers, Nathan
13. Hi all, I had all but settled on forking out the cash for a new 2009 USA standard precision in a local shop, when I saw this: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=557231 I am a fan of Maple necks, and the the retro p-bass-with-flats sound. Have to call in some favours with a mate of in the US to take delivery and send it on to me, but I think it may be worth it. Any last minute thoughts or advice much appreciated. Cheers, Nathan

16. Welcome Pete (even though I'm pretty new myself here ) How was it getting back into playing after all that time ? Had you been playing at all ? Cheers, Nathan
17.
Looks like in the order of £65 insured.
Thanks for quick reply. Going to do some sums.
18. Really like this.... If you are interested in sending it to Ireland, please get me a rough quote on the postage. Very tempted. Cheers, Nathan
19. Silly question: Are you guys measuring from the fretboard to the closest part of the string to the fretboard, or from the fretboard to the centre of the string ? Cheers, Nathan
20.
Replied!
PM'd RE 75 RI Jazz
21.
Buy with confidence from Andy - he does what he says
Any interest in part exchange for an Eden WT550 ?
22.
Never tried it myself, but no reason why not, especially with the XLR D.I. out... One would probably need to put it on the amp to have the Volume, Bass & Treble controls easily adjustable though.
Cheers, thinking of replacing my WT550 with a preamp and a QSC Poweramp. Why Eden chose to cripple a nice amp with a really dodgy compressor/enhance circuit (with a bypass that's prone to failure) I don't know...but that's another thread. Nathan
23.
I've never bothered with even looking into the ac adaptor as mine works perfectly well on battery power and the 9v seems to last forever.
Thanks, good to know. Are you running it into another preamp, or straight into a power amp or desk ? Was wondering if the EQ was versatile enough for use with only a power amp. Cheers, Nathan
24. Hi all, From the Sadowsky website:
We offer an AC adaptor for 120V. This is the only adaptor we can guarantee will work without producing any unwanted hum with the Preamp/DI Pedal.
Are people using this adapter with a voltage converter ? Any issues with hum at all ? Cheers, Nathan
25.
Mono Drums do indeed rule. Do a search for 'Glyn Johns Method' and 'Recorderman Method'. Some world-class drum sounds can be got with three mics.
Forgot to ask....what mics are you using ? This could change things a bit....
