  1. Hi, I’ve been looking for a mid priced amp around 500 - 800 watts with ALL of the following - Simple EQ (3 or 4 band no graphic) decent onboard compressor decent onboard overdrive STEREO Aux in (and monitoring) headphone out (stereo for aux in) No baked in tone No amp/cab modelling or other onboard effects So far I’ve found- Reidmar 750 (asssuming aux in is stereo) Portaflex 500 (not sure about baked in tone) id be grateful for any recommendations or comments on the above. I’m in the process of returning an RM800 to Musik Produktiv so won’t be considering another RM. cheers
  2. Just discovered/remembered I still have a decent box so if anyone wants to arrange courier collection then that’s fine.
  3. Thanks chaps - it’s an awesome bass but just not getting played anymore! Here’s a link to the original mod thread. There are some sound samples in it too (excuse the tasteless slap)🙄
  4. Heavily modified Ray34. I bought this bass new and as standard from Direct Music in Exeter in November 2018. I’ve since fitted a full pocket neck shim and replaced the pickup and pre amp with a Delano hybrid system and sonar 2 pre amp. Info on this system is here https://www.delano.de/hybrid_4/hybrid_4_details.html. its an excellent system with really good tone options including the obvious Ray and Jazz tones as well as combined Ray bridge and active Jazz neck tones. The pickups and preamp came from bass direct and cost in excess of £300. The routing for the extra pickup was carried out by me and I’m confident that it has been carried out to a high standard although more similar to Squier Jazz neck pocket routing as the rout is rectangular rather than pickup shaped. Somewhere on here there is a thread of when I was doing it. If I can find it I’ll add a link. the cavity has been shielded with foil tape. All original parts to return the bass to standard are also included although one of the pots has been removed from the original pre amp and is in use with the new set up. An spare treble pot for the hybrid system is included too as it’s a Delano special active treble and passive tone. I’ll also include a new stingray pickguard in black that needs the jazz pickup hole cutting out (easy job). The pick guard in the photo is the original to suit the Ray34 pickup rather than the standard stingray shape which the hybrid is modelled on. difficult to know where to price this but I think the asking price is fair. Any questions please ask. Collection only from mid Cornwall or I’m happy to drive up to Exeter if that helps.
  5. Fender rumble 115 cab in overall great condition but some minor peeling/shrinkage of the Tolex on the back. Approx 6 years old. Perfect working order. Great sounding 115. Original casters are missing as Ive never used them now included as I’ve found them in their box. The cab weighs around 18kg and is a one hand carry. Collection from mid Cornwall for £125 or £150 posted to UK mainland. now only £135 posted to mainland uk!
  6. Yeah you could be right there although you’d expect b stock stuff to still be fit for purpose. It’s usually marks and things that’s make stuff b stock isn’t it?
  7. Yep, I took that photo just after swapping the heads over on Thursday night. The only change from playing was the master volume turned down before powering off as it makes quite a loud pop noise when turned off which I’ve not been too happy about😕. The photo in my living room was just an oooh this looks nice one 🤣
  8. Hi BassAdder, input gain was set so the VU enters the red zone when played hard. I was also using some compression before the amp to even things out. I checked the input gain before swapping heads. Judging by the photo I took it seems I had it set pretty much the same as you👍
  9. Finally got to try this out with the band last night. What an interesting journey this is turning out to be. I was initially really underwhelmed with the tone and volume out of this set up. I’ve used the amp previously with my 115 cab and hadn’t had volume issues. I’m not sure whether we were louder last night or if the Vanderkley needs driving a bit harder than my 115 but the RM800 just didn’t have the guts! Fortunately I had my old 150 watt rumble head with me. I’m guessing that’s about 90-100 watts into 8 ohms. It had more power than the RM800. I used all the same cables etc so only the amp changed. I also noticed that the volume on the RM800 topped out with the knob at 9 o’clock. Further increases made little to no difference. I seem to recall reading a thread about someone else having this issue with an RM combo. Anyway bottom line is the head appears to be faulty so I’ll be getting in touch with Musik Produktiv. Hopefully they can refund it. Hard to judge the cab as the rumble head was almost maxed out and was breaking up a little but it’s definitely got more punch than the 115.
  10. Well, after a few twists and turns this has hopefully reached a good conclusion! Thanks to @BillyBassand @Mertonfor pointing me in the direction of the RM800. A bit of looking around at what’s available new and used, reading reviews, umming and ahhhing about whether I wanted a 112, a 212 or 2 x 112 I’ve ended up with a used VK 210LNT! Looks fab. I haven’t yet had a chance to try it out with the band but looking forward to doing so on Thursday. Thanks to Mark at Bass Direct for some really impressive customer service too.
  11. I spent ages trying to trace a rattle on my fretless. Turned out to be a loose screw in the base of one of the tuners allowing the little washers to rattle. Easily fixed but I need to put some thread lock on as it keeps loosening.
  12. I used to use the front of my rack case
  13. As it turns out, despite still being advertised, it’s sold!
  14. Tried it with the band last night. Sounded great 👍. The sub feature seemed to gets itself together too and was pretty good for adding a bit of oomph. Really pleased.
  15. Interesting - that’s Just over an hour from me so no problem at all. I’ll have a think and do a bit of research 👍
  16. Finally arrived! Not had a chance to use it in anger yet (that’ll be Thursday). Some observations so far from low volume and headphone use- sounds boxy with a flat eq sounds nice with the pre-shape octaver (sub) doesn’t track at all well (won’t be using it). some buttons are a bit fiddly and the compressor one needs to be pushed in a long way (almost past flush with front panel) for it to latch. compressor seems good although I’m no expert noisy headphone operation (using DT770) seems to be related to colour of VU meter light line in is mono and low gain compared to bass input. I think the headphone socket is a grafted on afterthought. I won’t be using it for headphone practice which I’d hoped to. looks nice lovely and light notched volume control is a pain for quiet practice (didn’t realise it was between notches when it slipped up a notch!) no centre detent on eq seems a bit weird drive is lovely used moderately, a lot is not nice. looking forward to trying it with the band. Hopefully it’ll redeem itself when used in it’s natural environment! edit - speaker pops when you turn it off. Anyone else had this?
  17. Interesting gas fuelling comments! Might have to think about getting in touch with the seller. They’re only 20mins away. Any negatives? is it easy enough to out on the back seat of the car etc? Probably too big for my boot (seat Ibiza). Should measure it really.
  18. I’m in the market for a new cab. I play in a newly formed covers band doing some of the usual pub covers. We’ve two guitarists. I’ve been using a rumble 115 cab in previous bands that rehearsed in decent studios with good acoustics and always DI’d or mic’d at gigs. It always seemed fine. The hall this band rehearses in sounds horrible and I’m having problems hearing myself. I’ve tried two different amps and have a third (RM800) on the way. Both my existing amps have some issues which put them at risk of giving up at any point. Just so happens that someone local to me is selling a fairly recent super twin for a fair price. I’m wondering if this would be a good choice but have concerns about whether it’s too much for what I need and whether portability could be an issue. I’m also wondering if the lack of tweeter could be an issue. How noticeable is the lack of tweeter on these? common sense says I should try the new amp and go from there. Just don’t want to miss the opportunity if this super twin is what I need.
  19. Just about to start on power of love by Huey Lewis and the news. Last one was Rio by Duran Duran. Hoping this might be a bit easier 😄
  20. Alesis samplepad pro. Approx 6 years old. Only used occasionally for home recording. Makes a great compact drum kit. Good condition and fully working. Original packaging and manual included. collection preferred but can post at buyers cost.
  21. Anyone paired an Ashdown RM 800 and an Eich 212s? If so what happened? Just ordered an RM from MP and I’m tempted by the eich.
  22. Why have you done this to me! I’ve just bought a new amp and now I’m looking for a cab.
