Gotta ask, why impose your way of doing things on those that are happy with how they are doing things already? Don’t get me wrong, I see the pros and cons of both sides and would love my lot to got IEM, but I’ve yet to be able to make a concrete case for it (even im not convinced it’s the right way to go).

Mains extension cable with multiple spaced outlets

We use 2 of those Lidl ones. Very handy for running various stage lights across the front of the stage. -
Finally got the new band to do a demo. Took a lot of mixing time though. https://on.soundcloud.com/tjBdhtvNgchat2p5A

I always fine the term ‘less than’ to mean ‘no more than, but pretty much as much as’ 😁

I’ve been using Comply foam tips for a few years, but recently started using these. They are much cheaper, and the shape seems to fit my ears better. These are rock solid as far as fit goes for me. They feel quite similar to the Comply’s, but don’t have a wax guard. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09L7F73YC?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

For mono you can use any Jack to Jack. The P2 has a mono/stereo switch. You can also use a TRS from a headphone out and get stereo, or mono if you use the switch etc. I personally use a Jack to XLR these days, as it locks in. It will also do stereo but works fine in mono as well.

I finally got my current band to go in to the studio and do a demo. We managed to record 6 tracks, which was quite a surprise. Ive been given the task of mixing them all, so had to learn Logic Pro, which means its not perfect. This is the first track I’ve finished. Quite pleased with how it came out. This was my first time in a studio on keys, although the keys have all been re recorded at home as they got recorded in mono for some reason. We based our version on Imelda May’s version, but it’s not quite the same. More to come. https://on.soundcloud.com/R7HXr1mL5pjFodK76

Yes, that's what I found as well. I still didn't get on with the new ones, but I did prefer them over the originals

We also had the best out front sound we have had, although frustratingly it took me to have to go out front (so no keys in the mix) to sort it out. This was after two other band members and the singer had done this and said it sounded great 🙄

Had an interesting gig on Sat. I wavered a bit and took my Yamaha DBR12, as my drummer has been complaining he can’t hear me on stage well enough. Last time we played there I used it and it sounded great. I packed my IEM’s anyway, just in case. Once we stated sound checking I couldn’t wait to get the IEM’s out. The on stage sound at the back was so loud i was struggling to hear myself clearly. Our drummer seems to be getting louder, or I’m more used to having the IEM’s in, but it was painful. I’ve never said that before I’m relation to being on stage…..ever. Anyway, gig went well, but both my P2 and Behringer B2 mix had random issues (both are getting exchanged today). The DBR-12 was used though…..as a seat for when I was packing up 😁

Getting our powered PA speakers was life changing for us, especially me as i can carry both at the same time. No sub needed. In fact other than the leads bag and stands i can carry the whole PA, as the desk fits in a ruck sack that goers on my back. We are considering getting a pair of something better, maybe Yamaha or QCS, but for now we have no complaints.
-
Yeah. We use the group function on the main desk for all the vocals. It means I can mute all the mics in one go at the end of the set, leaving the iPad playing if necessary. Or raise them all when things get a bit heavier. Having group function on the Mackie has been a god send for use with IEM’s.
-
I’d also add that the group levels/balance is normally set using the channel faders. This means you can’t have a different mix using them. Aux is better in this respect if you do need to tweak the mix for the monitors.
-
To be honest we only have the vocals, kick drum and keys through ours at the moment. Drummer uses a small fancy box that has his mic connected to it, so he sends it already EQ’d, and my keys are also already EQ’d, so it’s only the vocals that take advantage of the desk at the moment. I’ve had the deal since 2015 but never really got in to seeing what it can do until this band, but it does keep coming up with nice surprises. The monitoring is good, we can use 3 Aux’s if we exclude the FX, but on the whole we only need 2 at the moment. Both are set to pre fader which is handy. Rarely touch those now it’s all set up, although when Dawn fogeys her IEM’s (or doesn’t use them) we use Aux 1 to send my keys direct to the drummers monitor.

This is the desk we have. It's cheaper but much more versatile.
-
Not sure I follow that. You mean Mono Aux out from the desk in to the Aux in on the speakers? Yes, that should work fine. Is there a reason you want to use the Aux and not stereo out at home?
-
Is this for using at home as a general sound mixer on your desk? if so you only need a cable with two jacks on one end and a mini stereo jack on the other. You could use the group 1+2 outputs for this.
-
Im not familiar with this desk, but another idea could be to send some or all of the vocal channels to a separate group, and use the group out to feed something like this? Or even just feed it from the Aux out. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-HA400-Microamp-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B000KIPT30/ref=asc_df_B000KIPT30/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309964054975&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17175282499391845560&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006886&hvtargid=pla-362879265511&psc=1&th=1&psc=1

Double the price, but i have one of these and I think its a good idea as it will allow anyone using it to control their own volume without messing about with the desk. https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/SubZero-Passive-Personal-Headphone-Controller/2XOL As Russ has just said though, Aux sends dont give out a lot of volume so it really is a good idea to use something like the P2., ive got a couple of the gear for music clones that cost around £30 each. These have a mono/stereo switch so will also fix your issue with just one side coming out of stereo headphones, and allow you to use them with the low output Aux sends. Actually i just looked and they have gone up to £39 now.

Dawn just uses the adapter that comes with the Xvive. Direct in to the Aux1 out on our desk.

How to get rid of quoted posts on iPhone
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's question in Site Issues and Questions
I tried that. It seems to keep what I’ve already typed. I know I have seen a ‘clear editor’ button before but it’s not coming up at the moment. -
I’m trying to post a reply to someone but o seem to have two quotes in my reply. I can’t seem to figure out how to delete them. I can delete my part, and the text that is in the quotes, but not the quote boxes themselves. Using safari on iPhone.
