Thanks for the offer but i don’t really have a need to get it working now. I do remember one of those cables was a Roland cable, which i do still have, so maybe I’ll take that apart and we wire it. With that cable i remember i only got sound in the left ear when the P2 was set to stereo.
-
It could well be the cheap cables i got off amazon. I tried two different ones. I tried plugging the TRS end in to the headphone out on my mixer at first, and then in to my keyboard’s headphones out both directly in to the P2, but it was only coming through in mono. I also had a G4M version at the time and that was doing the same thing. Sent the cable back and got another brand (probably just re branded). Same result. It has bugged me that it never worked.
-
Haha, yeah. Like i said, the jack is woking fine for stereo, just couldn't get it from the XLR.
-
Thats good info Russ. I brought a couple of cables supposedly stereo TSR to stereo wired XLR, but only got mono using the P2. Do you have confirmation that the XLR in is stereo?
-
Only reason i use jack is because its stereo. To be fair my P2 seems very loose, even by jack standards. Hoping with the passive version i can get to the jack inside and if it is loose, bend it in a bit.
-
Ive had the same thing happen with my P2, and did the same as you. I find the jack connection to be quite loose so got a G4M passive version, which only has a jack input. This feels a bit tighter, although I’ll still wrap the cable. It’s also a bit smaller and with no battery one less thing to worry about. I was looking through my drawers last night and found my old Roland ECM907 stereo mic. I’ll give that a try on Friday and see if that makes a difference. .

Well to be clear, Dawns first set lasted 3 rehearsals without being dropped. 😬 Just one of those thing i guess, the second pair is working well and i know 3 other people that use them on a regular basis. Only issue i can see (and i may be wrong), is the the working channels seem quite limited if whole band are using them. Could be wrong though, and im basing that on seeing the guitar versions clash a couple of times in my old band.
-
EXACTLY what happened to my singer’s first one. We thought it had stopped working completely but i noticed if i held both parts in one hand it would work. Andertons swapped it over and the second one has been fine ever since. 3 gigs in and around 8 rehearsals.

Hmm. Thanks. I’ll look in to that. Good idea. Sounds a bit more involved than i hoped, but yes, ideally id use the P2 as the final bit in the chain before the IEM’s. Ive just ordered the G4M subzero passive version of the P2. This takes TRS jack only, but thats what im using with my P2. Ive found the cable can quite easily be pulled out with the P2, and as im using the phones out from the desk i don’t think i need an active amp.
-
Well that’s not extortionate but more than I was hoping for. I’m only asking as it seems a bit more convenient, it’s not a must have and I have a feeling it will be money wasted seeing as I’m already up and running with a wired system, which needs no power and won’t have any drop out or latency issues. I don't actually need a wireless system, but it would be nice. Im willing to see what’s out there though, I have seen the Sub Zero one for £180 but I’ve seen issue with their low cost stuff.
-
Im sutre its been covered already, but is there a cheap(ish) way of getting stereo IEM’s without a cable, and without buying yet another mixer etc. Obviously ive got the IEM part, and happy to use my P2, but id like to lose the wire if possible/feasible.

I’ve been using Comply memory foam tips for a few years. On my Airpod pros, as well well as my IEM’s. They need a bit of a squeeze before putting them in but they feel rock solid and block out so much more noise that silicon ones (for me at least). They make different types for different situations so they are quite versatile. I know some use the much cheaper Inairs, which are very similar. I’ve got two boxes of them but don’t feel they offer the same level of comfort as the Comply’s I’m using.

Thinking about it, I guess I could attach a mic to each of our PA stands. That way I don’t need to worry about stands, and they will pick up all the vocals centred.
-
Totally get that, but in my current case it’s irrelevant as both mics would be placed next to each other. Maybe one day I’ll be able to set them up either side of the stage, but that’s a long way down the line. Maybe keeping the ambient mic in mono will help keep things from sounding weird.
-
I can get the kit, but im wondering if it will make much difference considering where the mic’s will be placed. Most gigs im just in the corner so although i know in ears it will sound more open, i wont be getting a. Proper stereo spread. Just more things to set up.

Just had a rehearsal with my IEM’s and I’m over the moon with them. Having tried using them over the past two years, it all dropped in to place once I set an ambient mic up. What a difference!!! it sounded like I was there in the room lol. it sounded ok for the first few numbers, until I realised my headphone amp was still in mono. Once I changed that setting it was exactly what Ive been looking for. I had to get a new desk, as the one I’ve been using would have sent the mic to the PA as well, but the Mackie I got has a sub group which can send to the headphones rather than FOH. Mono ambient with stereo keys sounded great, but I can’t help feel I should send the B5 back and get a par of C2’s. They would both be mounted side by side on the top of my keyboard stand so wouldn’t make a huge difference, but maybe a bit more immersive? The real test will come at the next gig, as I set up at the back next to the drummer, so not sure how much it will pick up. Not going to place them anywhere else at the moment as I don’t trust the others not to know them.
-
Mine as well. Can sound great….or very funny lol. It’s quite complicated (or comprehensive) for her. Good thing is you can put whole sets in to it and step through them. She also got the mic adapter with the hit switch on it. We tried to replace it recently with one of those red Boss ones, but everywhere was out of stock for ever (or so it seemed).
-
Yep, but in my case my keys have all that already. I don’t mind getting something with features i dont want, but it’s the fact that i have to get larger than i care for thats really the issue. Closest ive seen is a Behringer XENYX X1204USB, which allows the Aux to be pre or post, but its still physically larger than i care for.
-
My little desk has a separate control room out, so i can send a feed directly to my P2/IEMS, and this is of course in stereo. id be happy with a mood ambient mix along with this, but there is no way to mute the output from the mic to the mains other than to have it turned down, and use the Aux sends, which means i have to use my P2 connected to the mono Aux send. Ive seen larger desks that would be more suitable, but these seem to have a lot of things i dont need, inc FX, and it just seems like a waste of money (although i am tempted still).
-
This is pretty much what im finding, and it’s bloody annoying. I use a small 8 channel desk for my keys. I only use two stereo channels, i dont need all of them. I plan on using a mic for room ambience for IEM’s. With our main desk I can have this in stereo and my IEM’s/keys in stereo, but with my small desk im going to have to put it all through an mono Aux, and go down to mono, just the mic doesn't come out of the mains. Why cant they put a pre/post fade switch, a mute etc, on these small ones. All these small mixers seem to lack functions that the larger ones have, but not everyone needs a 12-16 etc channel desk.
-
Yeah, i use them with my IEM’s, and my Airpod Pro’s sometimes. Very comfortable and cuts out a lot more noise than the silicon ones that ive used.
-
At the moment im using this. I only need two stereo channels so cant justify anything larger. We use both sends on our main desk for the singers IEM on send 1, and the monitors for everyone else on send 2 (passed through my monitor first). https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-Premium-Preamps-Compressors-Interface/dp/B008O517IC/ref=rvi_sccl_12/262-4384024-8480314?pd_rd_w=LFtnf&content-id=amzn1.sym.febd3956-4d60-4288-b8f2-cb468eb6674d&pf_rd_p=febd3956-4d60-4288-b8f2-cb468eb6674d&pf_rd_r=GZ0077Z79ZXVPR9HF9HG&pd_rd_wg=nr7gd&pd_rd_r=169da155-0a2b-45ed-9a0a-e35ff1e37b3f&pd_rd_i=B008O517IC&psc=1
