  1. I think a good mix can really help people enjoy a band. Ive heard terrible mixes of bands I like and have stopped listening, whereas ive heard good mixes of bands i wouldn't give the time of day to (like the Cure) and really enjoyed it.
  2. I felt the same about the Dammed until i saw them last year. Blew me away how heavy they are live. Best mix of the night (supporting the Darkenss and Hollywood Vampires).
  3. Thats a blessing lol. A lot of my mates were in to them first time around, but i didnt get it. Now I’m ready to give them another listen.
  4. Never liked the Cure, cant stand that whiny voice, but surprisingly enjoying this set. Bass player needs a lighter bass though. Poor bloke looks like his back has gone lol.
  5. Yes, I looked at that when I was replacing my WL-20 but as you say, it’s quite expensive. As above, I had to get the first set changed to the WL-20L as the cable tone feature was stopping me beaming tone prints to my TC Electronics gear. Too much top end missing. The WL-20L works perfectly though.
  6. Not the best of the best but i recently got one of these for my new Yamaha P34. More than good enough for me considering i normally use really cheap gig bags and have never had an issue. i had a Mono bag (cant remember which one, not the Vertigo though) and found it woefully lacking in pocket space.
  7. 1210R, probably the same as yours.
  8. I had an early one, i got it direct from Jorg before he had uk distribution. Fantastic cab, but compared to my 1212L it weighed a ton. Quite a noticeable difference weight wise.
  9. I find my RS212 sounds better when im not standing too close to it. Try moving further away. I also tend to drive mine harder when im standing close to it, but on the recordings i do of the rehearsals its very loud and clear.
  10. Oooh nice. I'll listen out for it lol.
  11. Back then i too was only gigging with a vocal PA, so had to supply the full bass experience from the rig at the back of the stage. I was mainly using Markbass heads, SA450, LMII, F1, but also dabbled with a GK 1001RBII, Ashdown ABM300 and Streamliner 600. I also had other cabs but always went back to the 1212L or 1012R. I still have the F1 and still use it, but it just didn't/doesn't seem to gel as well with other cabs for me. Also flitted between P and Jazz mostly, although i also owned other basses. I loved the tone out front, very full, and although not sparkly, still quite clear. On stage I always felt i was too loud, but the band loved that they could hear me (drummer used to say its lucky as I’m the only one that knows a the songs:-) my current cab is a RS212. Lovey tone close up but ive yet to gig it. I doubt it will be room filling like the 1212L though. Bugger, getting 1212L GAS now lol.
  12. Must admit i felt the same abut my 1212L on and off during the time i had it, but since getting rid of it i miss that tone. I went from that to a BF Retro 210, and then the BB2. Neither had the kick 1212L had. Maybe thats why i never got on with them, although neither sounded that great out front in a band mix (to my ears)
  13. No problem with that at all. Why do you think there is a problem with it? Saying that, why moan about it costing you money if you chose to mod it and not live with it? That was your choice wasn’t it?
  14. There is a 54+ page thread on Talkbass about these as well.
  15. If it was faulty why didnt you get it swapped over or just get new springs? Never had any issues with my Gen1 V7 and ive had it since they first came out. Never spent a penny on it other than strings.
  16. Have you looked on here for threads about these? They have been talked about already i believe.
  17. Yep, exactly what i was going to say. I also had a 1210R as well. Both run with Markbass heads or a GK MB800. Never did i have too little power for any gig. They were very pokey. Ive always thought they have two sounds. The close up mid heavy tone that helps you hear yourself on stage, and the fuller tone out front where it counts. Ive never settled down with a cab since getting rid of mine.
  18. Has anyone been able to update the FW? ive spent over an hour tonight trying to do it and every time i get an error that says 'illegal device connected' Guitarlab works fine so i know the drivers are loaded, and the updater can see the correct device. UPDATE: I took the files etc to my sons laptop and managed to do it from there.
  19. Ive had my P34 for a week now, and love it to bits. Not had a lot of time to play it this week, but i can honestly say i had had no ‘i wish it....” moments, its the most complete bass ive ever owned. Ive struggled to take any phots that make it look interesting, its hard to photograph at home and, well, we all know what it looks like. Still, a few to prove i have it lol.
  20. I play with a pick, and tend to rest my hand on the bridge. I can feel if the spacing if different. Its not that i cant play 20mm, i just chose not to. All my 4 sting basses have 19mm and thats how i like it.
  21. I've brought a few 5 strings over the year's, and partly for the narrower (18mm) sting spacing. ive never played anything less than 18mm but i hate 20mm.
  22. The Q/strip is a lovely EQ, very versatile, but that's all it really is. Its not ideal as a speaker sim, it just attenuates the top end. When i had mine i found my BDDI to be a much more capable 'amp sim' for recording and used at the end of the chain. Live it worked much better but at the start of the chain, and then i let my various pedals shape the tone as it passed through the system.
  23. Yep. I might go to look but i dont get hands on in a shop.
  24. Just not a bass ive ever felt attracted to, at least not to own. I do like their tone. I’d happy accept one for free of course 😂
  25. No problem, you have a good channel. I almost had the 735a off Bas, but was too slow to grab it 🙂 It worked out well for both of us.
