  1. Coalville is a bit rubbish for this, which is why I generally refer to it as coalvile
  2. Kids … house … job
  3. Broken middle wire, now fixed it does indeed have 21k ohm resistance
  4. Perhaps but I consider it less likely that they will succeed versus someone with drive
  5. I’m always hard on myself. People content with mediocrity rarely prosper
  6. See that didn’t bother me. I played bass behind an acoustic guy who it turned out disliked bass and he wouldn’t even tell me he was playing next. When I worked it out I quickly googled the chords and made something up. Winging it is actually something I’m good at
  7. The pup is just buzzing with white wire to tip of the jack and earth to sleeve any ideas ?
  8. I’ve been back there since, ran into guitarist and apologised for the train wreck. The compère had asked a local dep to give me some tips (they both think I just lack confidence though I’d add “talent”) and I asked my drummer buddy to spend five minutes drumming for me so I can get used to it without a noisy guitarist top guys
  9. Why would he ? He is clearly has excellent taste and appreciates tort
  10. Strings arrive tomorrow or Monday but for sone reason the body doesn’t seem to have an earth wire to bridge
  11. Just the pickups at the wire for some reason I couldn’t get the connectivity tester to read across both coils but resistance did
  12. I thought the pup was broken as I was just getting “1” on my meter but I tried the 20k ohm range and was getting 20.2k across both each was around 10.4 individually is that normal ? It’s a Seymour Duncan baselines model
  13. So you can give your own point of view ? So we can understand your situation better and adjust our expectations? edit - read thread in full, hope things are better for you
  14. What should reduce if I turn each pot to zero? Excuse my ignorance
  15. Full disclosure I don’t have an amp right now and I’m using a zoom pedal to hear the bass I’m building strings arriving Monday but I want to test each part can I use a meter to check the whole thing from the jack socket ? thanks for your help both
  16. Obviously black wire black lead, red wire white lead but which dial settings ? I know Henries aren’t on the dial. Resistance I assume but which range ? thank you
  17. Because other people do. They continue to buy and so drive the price up and arguably feed the perceived desirability. I see only antique value myself.
  18. Yes - I’ll PayPal you £10 tonight, I’ll expect it on my doormat by Monday though
  19. As with @neepheid my Scottish twin from another mother, I really don’t see the point. If that one individual bass hanging right there on the wall is a great, acoustic, resonant fabulous thing then pay the asking price but if not just move on and try the squier vintage modified or sire v7 because they’re probably equally good with at least one zero less on the asking price
