6. it has to be fireglo, i have owned 5 jetglo,s they always damage and chip very easily the fireglo is a more robust finish, and looks great , i have just taken delivery of a new fireglo and it,s stunning.
7. i am just about giving away a jazz bass and it has not sold, probably better to hang on to it until things change, thats what i am doing.
8. hi sam, thats the thing about the new 4003,s they are all individual instruments with different characteristics, i have seen other fireglo 2011 models and they have a very light coloured fret board , the fret board on my bass is very dark, i actually watched some footage on you tube it was a tour of the rickenbacker factory it was made around nov, thats when my bass was produced there was a rck full of 4003 fireglo and they all had light coloured necks, i am happy to have something unusual and it sounds great. geo
9. check that the bridge is fully tightened against the body of the bass even one loose screw will affect the sound of the bass, also check that your strings are seated properly in the machine heads its amazing how such a small thing can make a difference , another thing to check is that the bridge saddles are sitting straight its easy for these to be off slightly, as you know when you take the strings off the saddle housing can rock back and forth. also check the nut is ok no bits of gunk have got between the nut and the strings, another thing you can do is adjust the poles on the pickups for individual height if one string is sounding louder than another you can get a good balance that way too. last thing to do if none of those things worked would be to adjust the truss rods , i have had problems with brand new rics and i have always managed to fix them . geo
10. no chance stevie lol, this one is a keeper its perfection mate, just love this bass it reminds me of my first 4001 so much, the big neck and the tone is just huge from this bass , all i had to do was lower the action slightly and adjust the pickups and i was sorted. the wood on the neck is just supreme quality never seen anything like it, over the moon with it , the distributers are now including a hand made leather strap with the 4003, very nice touch to an already awesome bass. how you getting on with your jg??? cheers george
11. hi sam, thanks mate, did you find the neck a bit chunkier on the new fireglo?? it reminds me of a 76 jg i had, i prefer the beefier neck, also is your fretboard the same as mine with the caribbean rosewood fretboard?? cheers george
12. a few snaps of my new rickenbacker 4003 purchased yesterday, she is flawless and the grain on the fretboard is outstanding!!!!
13. hi mate yep, guy never turned up lol, back up for sale!!!!
14. thats true , i bought a set of swing 66 for it and the silk didn,t even reach the nut lol!!! i use the superlong xl strings and they sound good on it. still at the end of the day a comfy bass to play and its well put together and gives off a good tone. cheers

16. i have just restrung the bass with new rotosound swing 66 roundwounds 45-105 gauge sounds fantastic.
17. totally agree darkstrike, awesome bass for the money, i just cant stop playing this beast!!!
18. just thought i would write a quick review on the shine rk2000 rickenbacker clone bass guitar, i have been a long time rickenbacker bass player and have owned many rickenbacker,s throughout my life. i noticed the shine rk2000 in an article about ric copies and the guy writing the article was a 4001 owner and he seemed to think the bass was a very high quality bass, i managed to find one of the basses in a small guitar shop in scotland, the bass is made from maple body and maple neck through construction same as a genuine ric, the neck has a rosewood fretboard with triangular pearl inlays and a heavy laquer finish again the same as a genuine ric. the electronic side of the bass now, it comes as standard with seymour duncan rickenbacker replacement pickups which cost around £180, i took the scratch plate off to have a look at the wiring and the work seems to be of a decent standard and high quality wiring is used, the paint job is of a high standard also being the jetglo finish, the only weak point i could find on the bass was the bridge and i am talking from an aesthetic point of view, it is a large bridge and is a fairly chunky piece of metal and to be honest it does what it should do, i just find it personally a bit ugly!! i restrung the bass with d,addario roundwound xl strings, as i have no idea about the quality of the strings that are installed on the bass, well i have to tell you i was shocked at the tone of this bass guitar , i could not believe the awesome tone that emanates from this bass, i am sorry to have to say it puts the rickenbacker to shame considering the cost of the current 4003 uk price of around £1699!!!! as i said i have owned 8 rickenbackers over the years and the same problem crops up with rics, the e string is always a problem unless you are really lucky and have a full sounding e!!! i recently went into guitar guitar in glasgow and had the opportunity of comparing 7 4003 basses, one of which i purchased, out of the 7 basses only the one i bought was fit for playing, not one of the basses sounded the same to me or the salesman who was helping me out , i found it incredible that a bass that costs that amount of money was so inconsistant, when i got the 4003 home i even had to tighten the bridge up as the screws were so slack, the tone got a whole lot better after that , but as the weeks went by, i was still unhappy with the sound , so i sold the bass on. back to the shine !! i can only say i was put off by the mere fact this is a copy bass, but i soon put this out of my head by the sheer quality of sound this bass produces if it had rickenbacker written on it you would be happy trust me on that!! i cant put this bass down it just sounds better and better, for £499 its a great buy and if you are looking for a ric tone but dont want to pay the big bucks , i can recommend this bass 100%.
19. hi munkonthehill. well i will tell you this copy sounds better than half the rickenbackers i have owned , and i aint kidding, the e string on this bass is just awesome and it growls very nicely, i tried some new ricks in glasgow recently and most of them had dud e strings quite bad to be honest for the dosh you fork out. anyway whoever ends up with the shine will own a decent bass the pups are just fantastic on this. cheers george ps you still got your 4003??
20. hi guys, my shine 4003 clone up for sale, maple body, maple through neck , rosewood fingerboard with pearl triangular inlays same heavy laquer on the neck as the 4003, heavy duty shine bridge solid piece of kit, seymour duncan seb1 neck pickup and srb 1b pickup, high output quiet pickups , the bridge pickup uses dual alnico 5 blade magnets for more power and sustain the neck pickup uses 2 ceramic pickups for warmth and fullness of sound., great sounding bass if you are after the ric tone, neck plays really fast a bit wider than the 4003 neck but still comfortable to play, 34 inch scale /22 frets, i have owned the original 4003 and to be honest i find this actully plays better and has a fantastic sounding e string compared to the rickenbackers. solid bass , good sounding easy to play and 100% mint price includes gig bag and box for delivery, pick up is welcome.one more thing this is actually slightly heaver than a ric 4003. £320 delivered. cheers george 01294 604281 feedback http://basschat.co.u...62-cij-reissue/
