1. Guys... Who ever gets this is going to have a premium instrument. I have one of the first batches made and it is the best instrument I´ve ever tried regardless of price. In this condition and at this price this is, in my opinion, a steal
2.
Reflected in bargain price - £800 for quick sale.
This is a truly ridiculous price! If I just would not had sent money away for a new bass yesterday these would be heading to my direction in order to keep company for my own Hellborg pre & power. Unsolicited bump from here.
3. Agreed. I also have a Hellborg power (mono 250)/pre going onto an Aguilar cab (DB285JC) and it crushes beyond any other amp that I´ve tried regardless of the "tiny" nominal wattage.
4. Hello. I have one. If I had to sell off my gear the last amp that would leave the house would be the Twin Valve. It is stupidly good and not only that, but a pretty unique too for a myriad of reasons (size, ss pre/tube power stage etc.). The way I see it is that it does not only excel in the actual use it was made for, but also has a - dare I say - flair of Industrial Art within it. It is good and it is unique. Get it and do not sell it.
5. Someone is going to get a superb combo. I've had four, and the last one will never be sold.
6. Greetings, Long story short, due to a rather complicated trade-in/sale/buy situation I have the possibility of getting a THD Bivalve - a class A 30 watt self-biasing guitar amp. I've searched and read the little I've found about using it as a bass amp; I have understood that it works OK for bass, as long as one does not except much headroom nor SPL. Luckily for the purpose I am planning to use it for neither is of importance, so... I'd like to hear user experiences / well founded opinions on using the THD Bivalve with a bass. I'm also interested on your take regards to what tubes I should use it with on said purpose. 7. Money sent. Looking forward to receive this! :-)
8. Hi mate, thanks for the "vote". I asked the same in Talkbass and a guy there thinks it´s a APB-40. Darn if these Tokai´s are a hard to tell apart from each other... Anyway it´s seems recent, probably Chinese made and most likely with a body made of Agathis. Let´s see if someone else casts a vote on model this is.
9. Greetings, long story short, I got this yesterday as a partial trade-in when I dropped off an amp I sold. I am not home at the moment so no clue how it sounds with my amp. Acoustically it sounds somewhat quiet with no noticeable resonance or sustain. The strings are old and pretty much dead so swapping those will make some difference there. It plays smooth: very light to the touch and light in weight also with no neck diving at all. Frets are nice - good job on that department. It´s has been kept well though the body has the typical ding or two in the lower part. Paint is still there so no biggie. I´ve browsed the web for hours and, yes, went through TokaiRegistry without much to gain. Maybe the info is there but I did not find it. 10. Not much help I am afraid re the Ace of Bass Amp, but the guys at Bluetone sure know what they are doing. I dragged my vintage Oliver combo at their workshop for some TCL recently and spent a couple hours having coffee and chatting while they showed what they do in their workshop. - Old school customer service, old school attention to detail, old school craftsmanship, old school passion for what they do. All these plus some very intriguing new ideas. So, having heard what I´ve heard and seen what I´ve seen no wonder that I am seriously thinking about getting one of theirs down the line. First I have to pick up the Oliver though before they make firewood out of it (been there for a while since I´ve been too busy to pick it up)!
11. Any recommendations for a smaller/midsized cab to match the Twinvalve? - Glockenklang, Bergantino etc? Also what´s your experience re 4ohm/8ohm speakers?
12. Yeah... I reckon the Hexa is a beast. Probably taking a couple tubes off to cut the power in half would not go a miss in home usage... - It would still carry most gigs and have the potential for stadium SPL (like I´d ever play such a gig ) with all tubes inserted... Soooooooooo... anyone can compare the two against each other tone-wise? The power tubes on the twin probably are easier to saturate with hi-gain low-volume setting for some gentle overdrive, no?
13. No worries. I just wonder why it´s still here for the price! You guys are a tough crowd
14.
price drop bump
Shipping to Finland?
15.
I suppose the question in my mind is why you want one of these amps for practice when there are many others that would do the job as well...?
I guess the answer is why do we marry our wives instead of some other women as there are so many to choose from... I guess I could go on and on about this but the simple truth is I just want one - it is as simple as that. Practicing for me is where it is at - in my job I deal with people day in and day out and for me practising in the tranquility of my home is relaxation and charging of batteries. If I like to do this with gear I learnt to equate as "the coolest stuff out there" in my teens... Well, I guess nostagia is not that bad when it is recognized. In short: why? - Just because I like to - no reasoning herein.
16. Greetings, First post... I´m a novice player, age 43. Thought I was a drummer but... Yeah... I´ve used the search... Extensively. As well as googled... Extensively. I´ve read and researched, and now I´d like to know what you who have real life user experience with either or both heads think of them and their differences beyond the obvious facts. I´m looking for a training amp to be honest so the twin amp would more than suffice what comes to power. That being said a bit of extra ooomphf! never hurts.. Or does it? Thanks, J
