ah well last time i ordered a bass, it came from overseas, and my bank had a hidden charge for buying an item which is overseas, this caused me to go overdrawn, then i ended up paying more than what the bass cost in bank charges alone! so I am wary of importing basses, which is a shame because it looks really good for the money
Eh? You can't be serious? This is from Germany in the EU. Which bank is it? How did you pay?
  2.
Well I'm gonna be putting up my rockbass for sale in the next few days. It's one of these jobs http://www.gak.co.uk/en/rockbass-streamer-...red-stain/24046 Was a great starter bass, and kept me happy for a good few years, until i saved up enough for my spector. I'd be looking at around £150 which includes a hardcase. Am in north london, send me a PM if you're interested.
Good price that!
  3. Excellent!
  4. Kit attempts to contact your dead relatives via the power of loud, banging tunes. This is a BIG ONE for us so bring your friends! And your relatives who aren't dead! http://www.kitrichardson.com It's in a very funky venue in a Brixton church crypt. Babalou, The Crypt, St Matthews Church, Brixton Hill, London, SW2 1JF http://www.babalou.net/ Five of your English pounds On stage at 9.30pm (we think) Cheers, Nx
  5.
Sounds good...Any takers... I'd be up for that - who else?
I could do a Q&A on using a POD Floor Board on stage and in the studio if you like?
  6. Have you played all these basses? You probably know which one you like best, but may have doubts or lack of knowledge about things like value and reliability and quality. Of the four I would go with the Warwick. For reliability and quality of parts and construction. The Yam and the Ibby come joint second. The Curbow is probably ok but I wouldn't have something like that in my home.
  7.
But the fish saved you from selling a bass you later realised was a keeper, so you owe the perch one! Wish i'd have stuck a fish on my old Corvette... sniff....
That's true But I have the Electra now and I am absolutely in love with it, much more so than the Corvette, sad isn't it. Mind you, it will stay as a backup I reckon.
  8.
How did I miss this thread?? Absolutely hilarious!
It got moved from the FS area. I missed it too. It does make you think, that although you get the odd moaning type about "forum negativity", it's so rare that anyone actually has a full-on breakdance like this one has
  9.
How come you have offered pickup as an option but haven't stated where it can be picked up from (at least not in your profile or the two threads i looked at). Your not helping yourself by leaving out details like that. Personally i find it hard not to buy stuff when i come on here.
It's probably the bat wing inlays to b honest. Who seriously would want those? I tried to sell my black Warwick but no-one wanted it because it had a fish on it
  10.
Have you considered a Shecter "Damien" 4 string active bass?
11. For me it would probably be the Warwick Rockbass, they really are excellent basses. You'll not go wrong with the Yamaha either, the others are ok too, but I think it's all down to what you like best on the day. Don't rush it.
  12.
It's a shame that this thread is still open. How many people have to have a go, and how often, before enough is enough?
Your question suggests a visceral disappointment and possibly even broad distaste and mistrust of people and society in general. The pack mentality manifested in this thread bringing on feelings of anxiety, perhaps depression or fear of impending doom. Were you popular at school?
  13.
I fancy putting some DR black beauties on my lovely lovely fretless. Piccys added! Has anyone used them ? will they damage my fret board? Cheapest place to get them?
Have you read the thread dude? Of course you will get slight worming on the fret board over time as they are roundwound strings. How much depends on your fretboard. Mine is polished ebony so not many marks will appear. They are best bought from the US on ebay if you want them for a decent price. Cheers.
  14. FEEDBACK FOR TIM ANYTHING THAT LOUD WILL FEED BACK. AVOID
  15.
Nice looking bass the Neons look great.. I take it they play just as well as they look... so what colour do I go for??
TBH, I'd probably spend the cash on a duvet cover
  16.
That's still less than a month at the sort of usage I put my strings through. Plus I haven't yet found a set of DRs that I liked either the feel or sound of. Pity... because those Neons look fantastic.
yes but you won't be hitting the string in exactly the same place each time unless you are also a machine
  17. This might be interesting, I think Put up an early recording of you playing, a song, a composition, whatever you like, and also put up a recent recording. I'll get something early of mine digitised tomorrow and sling it up here, along with sommat newer. I know for a fact my bass ability was well meagre twenty years ago But I was really into composing stuff and playing guitar.

    VERY NICE!!
  19.
Unless you're handy with the soldering iron, have access to the components at bulk-buy prices and the time to do the job properly yourself, you can't get better that OBBM's cables.
I have one, I will be getting another. You could tie a walrus down with OBBM's cables. Unrivalled and for the same price you could make one yourself. Not sure how he does it really. Amazing.
  20.
Totally agree. You'd think that, with the money they cost, Fender could spare another 2" of wood and a scrap of fret wire...
It wouldn't be the same bass though would it. It would alter its character. Different neck socket and stuff.
  21.
The funny thing is one of my first ever bands was exactly like that, I used to sing and slap. We were called "TANJENT" with a 'J', cool I know ha ha! I'm gonna dig out an old song or two and put it up for a laugh! We supported Lost Prophets a couple of times when they were starting out, Ah the old days!
A band I was in (FISTER ) supported the Lost Prophets once too. That must have been 13 years ago Yeah, stick a track up man, be interesting to hear it! Cheers.
  22.
The only way I can think to achieve this would be if you could scuff the finish on the side a little bit, mask up very carefully and use a hard white lacquer, then clearcoat over it and polish to blend it in. Not sure how well it'd wear on the edge of the fretboard though. Probably work better on an all-maple neck since you'd clearcoat over the fretboard as well, might have problems on rosewood.
Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines. Should have just bought a bound neck really shouldn't I
  23.
Honestly I'm not normally a fan of white basses, but that is a seriously fine piece of kit! Strings look cool as beans too.
Thank you
  24.
How do these hold up to heavy pick usage?
From memory, DR did tests on the Neons by having a rotating wheel with picks mounted on it, striking the string in exactly the same place in rapid succession (can't remember how fast but presumambly something like a few times per second.) The coating lasted 180 minutes, 9 times longer than there standard Extra Life coatings. From DR's website .. The K3™ coating is the first coating that players report, “sounds as good or better than uncoated strings.” DR’s new, remarkable, proprietary and patent pending K3™ Technology Coating is the first coating that makes no apologies and no excuses for not delivering sound equal to uncoated strings. Players tell us that these strings have more volume, less unwanted overtones, greater clarity and articulation then standard, uncoated strings. Yet, they provide the same protection due to corrosion and perspiration as well as increased tone life that coated strings are known for.
  25.
This isn't anything to do with the Tron remake is it...?
Hahhah! I'm a massive Tron fan and I hadn't even made that connection!
