It's splendid to know I can be eloquent, measured and selfless, and hit exactly the right level of honesty and emotion, when pissed on Becks and Tequila at a quarter past one in the morning I even managed to arise at 6.30am, travel to the other side of London and deliver a morning's worth of very sober health and safety advice Cheers lovelies x

Thanks ever so much for your kind words guys. I know there's a fair bit of affection on here for Kit, and we've had some wonderful support from you, at gigs, on the internet, and buying CDs. I, the band, and Kit, are deeply moved and appreciative of that. It's the end of a pretty long chapter. Kit will be relaunching herself soonish, and I know you'll love it as much as what's gone before, because I've heard some of it. This little musical journey has been a wonderful time for me, I've learned so much, mostly to stop being a dick and play what is right, to make the song sound as close to what the songwriter wanted as possible. Everything from eq, envelope, note and space choice, timing, and dress sense I really only ever wanted Kit to be recognised as I know in my heart that she's one of the most truthful and talented lyricists, songwriters, vocalists and musicians I've ever heard, let alone been in a band with. I fully expected her to be signed and be successful and a popular artist by now, but I also knew that if that happened I could not go on that path with her and I'd have tried to get a younger and better looking replacement for her via this beloved bass forum. That would have been really painful so in a way, this has all been a bit of a relief. It's just been delightful seeing and hearing her develop as an artist over the last five years, and being a part of that, she's amazing. I'm praying she gets to be a highly successful artist because she has so much to say, so much music in her soul. But she has a lot more to give than being a musician, she's also got a great future as a political activist helping change lives for the better. I felt dead on stage tonight, almost completely emotionless. But we had a lovely little party afterward and that's when the emotions kicked in. I'm happy. And I look forward to the next band I want to join, and be accepted into. Sorry if I sound a bit overemotional saying all this Thanks again xxx

Thanks so much guys, you are all very kind x I'm not going to join another band for the sake of it though, I'm in two other superb outfits that give me joy, but they don't gig much and there's not much recording to be done. I think I'll see how I feel in a month or two, at the moment I just want to chill. Finding a band with a great vocalist and songwriter who is also motivated, reliable and organised ain't going to be particularly easy
IME if a musician is only interested in money then they should have trained to be an accountant or a lawyer! A lot of musicians are overly interested in glory but at the first sniff of a bit of money become completely infatuated with it! Onwards and upwards...
I just want to make it clear that everyone in Kit's band has a day job, including Kit. None of us is involved in music for the money, we are in the band (and other bands) because we are passionate about music. Of course most of us would love to make music our sole source of income, but I think we all want to be in a successful band, rather than the session/teaching/cover band/pit gig route.
Sorry to hear that - I thought the stuff I'd heard really had something about it and I'd have thought that it was different enough to catch the ear of someone with a bit of influence. Just goes to show that talent simply isn't enough for a successful music career. I think I've mentioned before that our singer's lad got signed to Columbia during his first year of a music performance course at Bristol Uni and they've been pushing him everywhere. Now, he's a really nice guy and can write a catchy tune but enough 'star quality' to attract a major label? I wouldn't have said so - just goes to show what I know. http://www.thenation...ra_Cassy_O.html The music business works in mysterious ways.
Thanks Fly, I'll have a listen later. The music industry is only interested in money. But then plenty of musicians are too. Cheers mate.
Sorry to hear this nige. Seen some good stuff on you pube. It's tough out there tho '. Good luck in your next venture , whenever that is.
Cheers Ray. She will be a very hard band to follow as she's such a rare talent. I thought she'd have got some attention by now but hey, it really is tough out there mate.
It just doesn't seem fair that such quality music isn't sustainable when there is so much tripe out there making money :-( Again, sorry to hear this, and hopefully Kit's next venture will have more commercial success, and that you get onto another great project ASAP.
Yeah I know mate. Thanks. I'm going to have to think if I want to be in a new band. I've been very spoiled.

Sean, that's great news man! Congratulations! I will come and see you when I can.
I don't think bloated and ugly is fair really (note, these taken on iPhone in 3 minute gap between dealing with full scale assault on Daddy by daughters, several Peppa Pigs, a stripy dinosaur and what appears to be a snail with legs)
I notice you have taken the photos at various angles to make it appear less bloated I also wonder if the slimming effect of such a large bass body on the wearer is why it seems popular with the more mature gentleman bassist Seriously, Chris, it's lovely, the white ones are the best looking IMO. And your photos look really professional. -
Is it possible to have a thread that lists all the availble CDs from BC bands and how to order them ?
Of course it is, but no-one would use it -

And just bought the CD from Bandcamp. I love it when I see a Basschat person's band and really get off on it and have to buy the music. -
Regarding the O.P ... If super sustain is what you want in a bass, then maybe consider an instrument with a neck-through body construction. Bolt-on basses offer less sustain, and bolt-on basses with neck shims even less so. High-mass bridges do make a difference, as does a brass nut for open notes. Certain wood types transmit greater sustain also. It's a fair point that folk make about fretless' though ... The finger with which you hold a note will dampen sustain anyway. If you're happy generating big sustain elsewhere in the chain, this can be well achieved with a compressor. Fretless, or otherwise.
Is that a fact?
inlays done, im really looking forward to seeing how the heel joint comes along when it is put together, anthony at xylem basses really knows what he is doin in this department. the build diary on the xylem website has more pics uploaded too http://www.xylembass...nstruction.html
Can the neck turn 180 degrees and say your mother cooks socks in hell? Wicked inlays!

Thanks PB and SC That means a lot to me. PB for some reason I'm getting no sound from cloud, it's inexplicable. So I haven't been able to listen to your songs mate, I will when I can. SC thank you, that was when I was a guitarist and played bass because I had to. I think Geddy was my influence back then, I was mostly into dub and reggae bass though. Cheers x
Ha ha, you bloody aesthete Nige, you're like the Byron of Basschat! I will post pics when I get the chance, but you have to trust me that in the flesh it's a breathtaking instrument. It's been said elsewhere, but unlike a few other basses I've played that from a distance looked classy but didn't take close scrutiny (and I include more than one FCS models there), the Yammie looks pretty average from a distance but the closer you get the more you realise what a class instrument it is.
I bet it is mate. I love their guitars, the SGs outclass Gibson on most counts. I know what you mean about close up. I've played SG2000s and when you've got your hands on one they just sweat class and craftsmanship from every pore. Seriously, congratulations on getting your dream bass. -
This gig is sold out apparently. So PLEEEEEESE come and see us at the Barfly Camden on the 20th March!
...on Fender basses yes, on Yamaha basses definitely not. Only a black plate would look right on these basses. If you don't like the look of this Yamaha then there really is no hope for you, Nigel. The taste bypass would appear to be irreversible.
Until Chris posts a pic or two, I stand by my opinion that Yams are bloated and ugly, except perhaps the white ones, for some reason they look really nice. Just too big and bulky looking for me though -
I'm sure all this will be academic soon enough, because that BB2024MX is so beautiful ( and such a great bass) I am pretty certain it will be sold and making some new owner very happy in the near future. A bass like that won't be hanging round for long.
You're the chap who likes tortoiseshell PGs on black basses aren't you
