  1. A rather nerdy exercise this morning for myself as GAS issues being experienced. Thought I'd save the result here in case it's useful for anyone else. Aimed to get the nut and the bridge at the same level, end line is Series 2 (and GA) body end. Series 2 is at more of an angle in the image, so would be slightly wider ....
  2. Has anyone come across 5 string laminated basses? I’m considering going for a 5er but don’t want to throw big money at it until I’ve tried one for a while. Thx
  3. I had this issue previously with a new bridge. It means you need to get the bridge fitted to the bass front more closely. You could try this yourself with fine sandpaper if you’re brave. There are several YouTube videos on the topic. The strings you are fitting might be higher tension if you’re fitting a new set. Good luck
  4. I’ll be honest, I haven’t read this entire thread. But if you’re looking to spend ~£1k and find the more expensive EUBs out of reach, do consider buying an actual double bass. You’ll get a good second hand laminated bass or even solid wood example at that level. You’ll learn far more in terms of technique using the real thing. Good luck....
  5. I recently picked up a Cort C5. Narrow/flat neck, 3 band eq and very light. Would be a good intro 5er. Cort make a lot of the Ibanez and Squire basses I believe.
  6. The Westone is the only one I owned from new and gigged in the 80s. Never let me down and doesn’t appear to have a scratch on it.
  7. Would it be possible for you to post the weight pls.
  8. I’m thinking about a Supernatural 5er. I have a concern about how much one would weigh. Any owners of such machines about that can comment? Also, the GA24 body seems smaller, but do they neck dive given the shorter upper body dimension? Grateful for any info.
  9. SN is 120
  10. Indeed.
  11. Funny, I ordered this In a 5er a few days back. £645 from Thomann
  12. I have no evidence, but the previous owner told me it appeared on Trent d’Arby’s second album. It’s an ‘84 I believe.
  13. Indeed, I think some rehoming is due.
  14. Sorting out my study I realise that converting to 5 strings a few years back means I have left some old friends behind. Oh well ...
  15. Nice. May be it’s an age thing, but I find the smoother the music the better it sounds these days.

  19. New track Thanks for listening
  20. Thanks. Did you try the other tracks on the band’s channel?
  21. The next track in our lockdown EP Do please have a listen.
  22. I’ve been lucky enough to hook up with a new band, Breathe, during lockdown. It’s given me a chance to get my Stingray 5HH out for this track. Each musician recorded at home and sent in a .wav of their part. Do please have a listen. Track is also on Spotify.
  23. I have one of these in a sunburst finish. IMHO, these are the easiest 5er to migrate to from 4. A wide but flatter neck profile that’s really comfortable and the same string spacing as the 4 I also have. New owner will have a great bass.

    Your Go To Bass

Absolutely correct interpretation. My original post is aimed at us enjoying the wealth of favourite basses. My Jazz is a good but not expensive instrument.
