  1. Another vote for a v3 Rumble 500 combo. Just the right height to sit on too.
  2. I've just put a new rig together - ABM EVO lll and Monaco - our band is a four piece v/g/b/d covers band playing mostly pubs and small festivals. I gave it its first run out yesterday - absolutely superb. Plus lightweight, fits in car easily etc. I've just put a review of the Monaco on the Monaco thread if you want to know more about the cab.
  3. First gig report: I purchased a Monaco last week and gave it its first run out at an outdoor gig yesterday. My first impressions are that this cab is superb. The sound of each note from low E to high on the G string is even and balanced and speaks clearly, just like the bass does when practicing using headphones. Setting the amp's eq to flat the speaker sounds a little bland but once eq is set to taste then the sound really comes alive, it is full, rich, clear and present. The ABM is a perfect match with its seven band eq; after a few adjustments on the fly I had a really pleasing sound, with a touch of drive and compression to complement; in melodic, sensitive passages it felt like my technique, the string and the speaker were working as one as if it was an acoustic instrument; and in fast, loud passages with the drummer moving around the low toms muddying the sound, now each note spoke clearly through the mush. My only gripe is that there aren't rubber feet on the cab - easily solved - I can see the corner protectors getting pretty scratched up quite quickly and the cab needs a mat at home to protect the wooden floor from getting marked. So overall this is a wonderful cab, yesterday was the clearest and most even sound I've ever had on stage. I'm really excited to be taking this forward with me on my musical journey as I think it will help me become a better bass player.
  4. White backplate (very slightly faded) in VGC, off a Yamaha Pacifica. If you need dimensions let me know. £5 + £2 p&p
  5. my set arrived today - they work fine, but look a little fragile so I'll just have to be extra careful.
  6. thanks for the heads up on this
  7. NOW £700 I've owned this from new, it's unmodified, pro set up by Crockett Guitars, TI Jazz flats fitted in excellent condition. The bass is unmarked as far as I can see and in mint condition, ready to gig. Complete with Gator hard case, original case candy and Gibson strap. Reluctant sale as it is a really lovely instrument but it isn't getting played so it can move to a new home. Cash and Collection only, from Faversham.
  8. Hi, if these are the measurements then I'll take it. Will you PM me your bank account details?
  9. Hi, could you send the measurements of this - length/width? thanks
  10. I did an experiment with my Minmax this afternoon - I unscrewed the fan and took it out, powered up the amp on my desk with the fan running away from the chassis. The same noisy fan was virtually silent, so it is the casing that creates the noise. I need to find a way to make a 'silent' mounting.
  11. I'm sorry to hear of the demise of Marvin's Minimax, but without wishing to appear insensitive to his loss, I'm interested to make mine have a silent fan. I've just opened it up, and the current fan is 60x20mm, 24v, 0.11A and two cable (see pic below) (unlike the ones recommended earlier which were three cable). Would this be a good choice?: Jopto 2PCS Mini Brushless Silent 3D Printer Cooling Fan 60x60x20mm 6020 DC 24V Fan With 2 Pin Terminal Compatible With Laptop 3D Printer PC CPU Computer Cases For DIY With 30cm/11.81inch Cable : Amazon.co.uk: Business, Industry & Science
  12. Unlucky.
  13. I'm a fan (geddit?) of these amps too, really punchy, full sound, I have one which is my back-up. It is only used in loud situations so the noise isn't a problem for me.
  14. A clip on tuner. Ok, convenient and works well but it makes you look (even more) like a t***.
  15. I got mine about ten years ago from WD Music when they had a branch in the UK. If you look on their US site, or the Hosco site, there is a Wilkinson bridge where the saddles looks about the same.
  16. I've fond memories of Greenhalgh's in Fore Street, Exeter, where I bought my first bass (a Jazz copy) in 1977.
  17. I think probably the shop I spent the most time in was in Canterbury, where I went to university. A place called – I think – castle street music, or something like that. It was a guitar shop on castle street, and businesses in Canterbury tend to go for pretty straightforward names. It was called County Music - a lovely shop, good staff, a decent selection of gear for a small outlet, always happy to match online (GAK) prices.
  18. possibly, all my basses have a symmetrical curve where they stand so I don't have a problem.
  19. If you go into amazon and search Kinsman wooden guitar stand, you'll find it.
  20. Here's a sexy little folding wooden number, I found it on Amazon a few years ago:
  21. I haven't played a RB210 but I've owned a Rumble 500 for over ten years. Pros: if you like the sound, then the Rumble with 'Vintage' engaged is near perfect. Loud, light, reliable, sounds great in the mix. It's fine on its own for pub gigs but when paired with a second 2x10 it's epic. Good height to sit on at rehearsals. Cons: I don't like the drive setting, it's too harsh for me. A built in tuner would be nice. I would prefer side handles.
