  1. I always saw that album cover as a metaphor. Innocence being targeted and corrupted by money and greed. Which is exactly what happens and is happening in this legal case.
  2. There is also a wider choice of entertainment options, home cinema, healthier lifestyle, exorbitant cost of booze (you can fly to pretty much any European capital for the price of a round of drinks) etc etc
  3. I think pubs worked out long ago that there is more money in craft beer, locally sourced food etc than live music. Live music venues have been struggling for a long while.
  4. There is some truth to this. France promotes and finances the creative industry more than we do in the UK including helping musicians with grants and radio airplay incentives. Has it had a massive impact on the artists careers or pushed French musicians to wider commercial success? Air, Daft Punk, Chinese Man, Gojira and Alcest spring to mind but there aren’t as many success stories as would be expected.
  5. The difference is you need the plumber and have called them yourself. Different than just wanting a pint. There are several bands and Musicians I pay to see live that aren’t chart material and play smaller venues. The audience finds them and they are on a totally different level than the average pub band. Some examples of pub/free festival acts I have gone on to pay to see live: Martin Harley Tankus the Henge The Hamsters Ozric Tentacles The Levellers All quite a while ago now as I don’t actively seek out music like I used to when I was younger but the really good performers all found a paying audience
  6. An amp I am interested in locally has come up so keen to sell. Will offer both the WEM and Orange Crush 12 for £300.
  7. Black Jesus - Everlast
  8. Sir Horace Gentleman (Specials) sometimes uses one as does Simon Gallup from The Cure (but that’s not so unsurprising).
  9. Postcard from Hamburg - Martin Harley
  10. One love - Mr Marley
  11. Aeroplane -RHCP
  12. Just like heaven - Dinosaur Jr
  13. Indeed. Good find. And in 100 years time there may be a prevailing climate of hardline religious orthodoxy. History has a way of making us all look stupid/perverted/ignorant/arrogant/ridiculous.
  14. The fuddy Duffy censors just restrict the choice. Sadly there is no arbiter for taste. If people reach for the Cheesestrings when there is Roquefort and aged cheddar on the platter then there must be a parable wrapped in an enigma somewhere to explain it. Maybe.
  15. So you went for the music rather than the sexual politics/titillation (delete as appropriate). I think what I am trying to say is what is deemed offensive is arbitrary. If it was left to the likes of the Mary Whitehouse brigade the world would be a different place. Max Bigraves would top the charts and Turner and Constable would adorn the Art galleries whilst Dali was banned.
  16. We’re Rockbitch offensive? Expressive? Pornographic?
  17. These boots are made for walkin’ - Nancy Sinatra
  18. Call me - Blondie
  19. Sorrow - Bowie
  20. Shudder have had to resort to flea-bay to sell this. If anyone knows a guitarist looking for a classic amp please let them know. Some provenance which may be of interest.
  21. Can’t stop - RHCP
  22. Addicted to love - Robert Palmer
  23. Time (The Revelator) - Gillian Welch
  24. Bela Lagosi’s Dead - Bauhaus
