  1. Would it look worse or be less value than this: https://www.singulart.com/en/artworks/alain-cugnenc-sans-titre-1269889 Note chosen at random I know nothing of the artist nor do I have an opinion on the merit or value of their work.
  2. Other than food I rarely buy anything from physical shops anymore. The last time I tried my experience was the same as yours. Queues, indifference, no stock. I ordered the item (spray paint) in store on the Amazon app and it was with me that evening.
  3. AWS is the Netflix backbone. (Amazon Web Services) Just one of many companies we use daily others include the Financial Times, Formula 1, Moderna, Astra Zenica and on and on.
  4. Amazon also handle the logistics, distribution and technology that allows a massive amount of small businesses and start up companies to operate and scale. I think a lot of people forget this in the same way as they forget at the heart of most franchise models like McDonalds etc are just small business owners relying on a global brand to make ends meet. Not endorsing these businesses or Amazon but it’s not as simple as people make out. Oh and BTW anytime you watch Netflix you are using Amazon just one of many many examples.
  5. Isn’t that the 5th day 22/01/68 maybe? Always tricky: https://www.vintageandrare.com/blog/serial-number-identification-and-decoding/
  6. If they are anything like my kids if it’s not posted on social media it doesn’t exist and isn’t happening.
  7. It’s all good to mock but if you’ve got soul, short arms and very large hands there needs to be a niche luthier. Hobbits like to jam too.
  8. Absolutely. It’s no guaranteed money spinner. Instruments are lovely things to have around though.
  9. But how much would that cash be worth now if it was kept in a bank all those years rather than spent on a bass? £150 would probably pay for a decent hard case. The increase in the money supply (broad definition of inflation) and devaluation of money (reduction in purchasing power) is exactly what “investing” in assets is about. It’s not a get rich scheme just trying to get back ( hopefully with a modest increase) the value that you put in. Edit: There would have been some interest payment on the £150 but it would decline in proportion to the value of the money. By the mid 1980’s it would already be negligible.
  10. I see the sun is smiling on your morning mug of compassion today! Kid looked overjoyed and made me smile. If her talent makes her and her friends and family happy that’s doing plenty.
  11. Exactly this. Cash has been getting hammered for several years now in a so called low inflation environment. It’s looking very much like inflation is starting to kick in. Any asset that can outstrip inflation is better than surplus cash in the bank, if it’s something you enjoy even better. I did post about this a while back but was largely ridiculed.
