I wasn’t putting them down but kind of hinting timing is important. The UK economy was on the rise, lad mags were everywhere, it was fairly hedonistic, there was a fair amount of swaggering machismo. If Oasis launched in 2023 I doubt if they would have gone stratospheric.
-
I would argue timing and good fortune are part of the recipe for success. Noel has penned some reasonably catchy tunes (first 2 records). Oasis were the right band in the right time in a similar vein to the Arctic Monkeys or Nirvana.

Is there a lot of hate or is there just a lot of apathy and indifference? People on BC genuinely seem to hate rap but for me NWA, Public enemy, Snoop, Tupac etc did something new and exciting. All the bands you mention are inoffensive and pretty decent at what they do but are just a bit vanilla and insipid. I’m not surprised guitar based music is in decline. It needs something radical and different to give it a boost.

My son is very excited. Me less so. I don’t hate Oasis. I just don’t understand the UKs Beatles fixation. Pulp were an interesting band. The rest of Britpop was a massive yawn.
-
TBH I wouldn’t buy one new. There are so many decent used bases available (even just on BC) that I doubt that I will buy a new bass ever again.

Well they are either lying and the whole thing is a big conspiracy, or they are telling the truth and import duties plus economies of scale make the instruments more expensive in the UK.
-
yeah i don’t think the recent trend of dev-ops helps either. in my experience developers and infrastructure staff have very different skill sets and personality traits. Getting two for the price of one is a long shot imo.

I guess it’s all a matter of perspective but if I was opening a market stall I would make sure I had all the necessary equipment including change, a card reader, weather protection, a suitable vehicle for carrying stock etc just pay a company a few quid to set up shopify properly would be my advice. probably cheaper than the initial outlay for a market stall.

I guess it depends whether they want to communicate with their customers effectively and not have their domain spoofed. There is no major change to tech required. Just adding a couple of DNS records. It would take about 15 minutes. I work in tech and am permanently mystified about how many UK companies have inefficient labour intensive workflows, archaic technology and staff that don’t take technology seriously but wonder why the far east is taking over as the industrial and economic powerhouse. This is excusable for mom and pop type stores but plenty of big name private businesses and public sector companies are shockingly inefficient. Perhaps not paying the CEOs millions and investing in training and getting some staff that are suitable might be a smart move?

They have a physical store but their online presence is surely the most important way of getting customers?

Botox and Fillers (would you) audition related

Watching festival acts recently it would appear that looking really past your prime is now almost a pre-requisite! A good percentage of the big hitters are 70+ -
I wouldn’t expect a company that is not predominantly web and e commerce based to be fully clued up. But if your primary source of revenue is e commerce then getting it right is crucial.

A quick check on mxtoolbox for bassbros domain shows it’s not DMARC compliant. Microsofts exchange servers are doing what they are supposed to do. Junking the email as it’s not compliant. The sending server is not proving ownership of the domain name. Its not like companies haven’t had years to make these very simple changes.

I would say a firm no. But I have never been (or am likely to be) in a situation where my appearance would affect my career or finances. So it’s easy to say no. -
Importing from the USA can be prohibitively expensive. I’ve fallen into that trap before.

The question. Put your ear trumpet back in.

This thread appears to be a lot of hot air about nothing. I’ve just watched a bunch of Charles videos, including the stones one, he clearly has talent and is a decent musician. The You Tube stuff is just showboating for clicks and revenue and is a tiny portion of what he can do. The TikTok /YouTube world is not one I am part of or interested in as it just seems to be fragments of a barrage of information fighting for everyone’s somewhat limited attention. If he has harnessed this world to fund his playing good on him.

The main problem is AI knows nothing about the individual item being sold, it’s condition, how it has been used, if it’s been serviced or cared for, if it was bought new etc etc. It can add generic information or hyperbole but that’s not what a buyer wants to hear. AI is not a substitute for common sense.
-
But, but allegedly it’s a must for anyone who wants “to add a touch of vintage style to their playing” wtf does this even mean?
-
@EssexBuccaneer do you have any contact details for these guys? I have a periscopic sextant that i am told is from a Vulcan bomber that needs a new home.
-
I like the use of AI as it really highlights all the aspects of the bass that a buyer needs to know: “The red body colour adds a touch of style to any performance”. Ok. I’m sold

very clean and new looking wood under that ‘relic’ job and no obvious signs of age or real wear in its 60 years.

probably a question for a sparky.
