  1. Fender Aerodyne Jazz Great bass in good used condition. Japanese made 1994/95 Currently strung with flats. V. Light weight basswood body with rosewood neck. The Aerodyne range are highly regarded for good reason IMO with the only major downside being the stock pickups which are fairly weak for a premium instrument. I have replaced them with a Geezer Butler PJ set which is a massive improvement. Every time I pick this bass up it sounds great and is a joy to play but (and it’s a big but for me) I just don’t like the body shape or ergonomics of a Jazz bass. It’s in excellent condition for its age with only a slight mark from pick near P pickup (see pictures). Very happy to consider trades with money going either way for either a Lakland PJ, G&L JB2 or other narrow neck non offset bodied bass.

  8. Really nice neck, light, looks great IMO, black ones are a swine for fingerprints, for a (relatively) expensive bass the pickups and loom are a bit meh. Replaced mine with some Geezer Butlers and it sounds great. I’m not keen on the ergonomics of a Jazz bass so will probably sell it/trade it at some point.
  9. “I think we got rid of religion, essentially, which may or may not be a good thing, but there’s a vacuum that we created that we don’t really know what to do with” I agree with this. To be honest many of the foundations that previous generations based their moral and spiritual character upon have been torn down, for good reason in many instances, but IMO there does appear to be some floundering in the void and more tearing down than creating. As my old boss used to say “bring me solutions not problems”.
  10. I was actually using the mean calculation as median can skew the figures somewhat (for the 1977 and 2022 dates). If you want to use median then in 2022 the average USA wage was over $54000 a year. Two weeks would buy nearly 2 new Fender Jazz basses. Edit: No it was median. Results here: https://dqydj.com/individual-income-by-year/ Either way using your link or mine instruments have still fallen in price relative to wages.
  11. Looked it up on the internet and yes $200 second hand in 1977. Average income in the USA in 1977 was around $7000 a year so the (used) bass cost him nearly two weeks salary for the average worker. The average salary in 2022 was $33,000 so 2 weeks salary would be around $1300. Nearly enough for a new Fender Jazz. For simplicity income tax and sales taxes not included.
  12. John Lennon bought a six bedroom house in Weybridge for £20K. Shyster estate agents now want several million for it: https://www.thepinnaclelist.com/design/kenwood-home-weybridge-surrey-england-uk/ I expect inflation has something to do with the price discrepancy.
