Has the bass been resprayed or is this its original colour?
it's original apparently, whole lot was done by Warwick when she was ordered. I'm definitely going to get the action sorted a bit and also make a trip to costco and bulk buy some tipp-ex
2.
That looks awesome - and I don't even like white basses! That's the one problem I've found with a lot of Warwicks - they really do weigh a tone. My Streamer has been successful in giving me recurring back pain. And I've found Thumbs to often be heavier still. Which is surprising as they have quite small bodies. Must be all that bubinga... Are you going to get recessed strap locks? Recesses are definitely the way to go...
Yeah I think so, whichever are most secure and look the nicest. Where the hell am I going to get a padded white strap from though, that's the question! They had a Corvette HotRod in the shop too and that was like a feather in comparison. I was also surprised at how good the Infinity SN was.
3. Thanks to this very forum, I'm now the proud owner of a custom white warwick thumb 5 string. Original wanted thread is here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=22130 So without further ado: Couple more (including tasty neck shot) here: http://flickr.com/photos/simondee/sets/72157605913203492/ A couple of notes: - this bass really hasn't seen much use from what I can tell. - damn it's HEAVY. - neck is fat. very fat. but i've been playing a corvette 4 for the last decade so that's to be expected I s'pose - the tonal response (especially for that signature growl) is amazing, as you would expect - B string is tight One of the strap holders is a bit loose so I'm going to take it to the Bass Gallery soon to get that fixed and some straplocks put on, as well as a general healthcheck and setup. And did i mention that it's heavy? Daaaamn I'm going to end up all lop-sided.
4. guitar hero made me want to join a band again. they're a force for good, and can also help bands actually make some cash from songs that would otherwise just be pinched off bittorrent. I guess it's like saying that footie games prevent kids from having a kickabout outside. And even if you're a proper muso, completing DragonForce on expert is one hell of an achievement...
5. My thumb bass weighs a ton and I'm looking for a comfy WHITE strap. Any ideas folks?
6.
How about this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Warwick-Pro-Tube-XI-...id=p3286.c0.m14
Do you reckon £325 is about right?
7.
i've got a warwick IX protube for sale atm how much were you looking to spend on one?
PM sent!
8. About ten years ago I used to absolutely lust after one of these and there's a couple floating about second hand. Just wondering what the current value of these old beasts is? Anyone know?
9. x2 that's my dream bass that is. Haven't got a Sadowsky Metro lying about though... just a wad of caaaaash.
10. look for a second hand Corvette Standard. Most models are active/passive and come in the natural swamp ash or bubinga. I've had one since '98 as my main bass and they're brilliantly versatile and have the warwick growl we all know and love.
11. Protest The Hero - Fortress The new Sigur Ros record Pendulum - in Silico
12.
At one time (late 80s early 90s) Warwick were giving them away like they were Smarties...jeez! they even gave me 3 Steve
heh might try for an endorsement then if next year's arena tour happens!
13. played the Astoria on wednesday. AWESOME experience. http://www.vimeo.com/1160766 - video evidence!
14. i'm a big warwick fanboy too. never looked back. i've noticed a big drop in 'famous' rock bassists using warwick (lostprophets, story of the year, incubus, etc etc), wonder why that is? I rarely see other Warwicks when I play shows these days :-( I would literally kill for a streamer stage II and the custom jobbies that Stuart Zender had back in the day were amaaaazing.
15.
Love it, played in thrash covers/original band for a while, got the shirts. Though I'd never do it again, maybe a few Metallica covers for kicks. In fact, I played a good amount of 'Tallica songs for the first time in 2 and a half years just the other day, it felt quite humbling actually. When I am inspried to write metal-esque stuff, I tend to draw influence from Mudvayne and Protest the Hero, seeing as the metal side of my bass-vocabulary is a good mix between the 2. Technical yet groovy and melodic.
YES. the guy from Protest is AMAZING. also, I love Brian from A Wilhelm Scream (although they're *technically* a punk rock band). gratuitous tapping video: http://vimeo.com/629705
16.
GK MB150e combo. And I did it twice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bass wise........the Mex Jazz I've just done up. I still have it , I'm not selling it , but I just know I will at some point and then regret it!!!
aaahhhhh I had one of those too and wish I still had it. had the ickle bag and everything! chorus was a bit useless, but it was awesome.
17. I just did a gig with a thrash band called the quarry to fill in for their bassist who's in the middle of leaving due to wifey commitments. Tons of fun but everything was tuned down to drop C# and I *really* needed a five string for it. flap flap flap.
18. oooh I had a Yamaha BB1100S too in sunburst purple that I foolishly sold in 1998. I miss it
19. should never have sold my Eden WT-400 with Eden 4x10. never let your missus persuade you to let go of gear because 'there just isn't enough room' never again
20. mine hasn't ever since I tried a Streamer Stage II daaaaamn I need one of those
21. Stu, if this metal band thing I'm pondering over works out then I'm all over that Katana. thanks for the comments guys. Jake, expect a PM shortly!
22. Has there been any more news on UK Incase stockists? They look awesome and I need something I can wear on my back and also take on the Tube.
23. ok, thanks for the response so far, bit more info: - cab budget is about £500 (so nothing brand new) - I used to be an Eden guy, so the warwick/eden tone is deffo what I'm into. Heard lots of good things about MarkBass and EBS but have yet to see a setup live. - Not an Ampeg fan. bit too classic for me. Plus our whole scene uses Ampeg so it would be nice to have something different. - light ABS cases will totally do the trick since these are all going in the car. we're a way off full flight cases yet!
24. Hi all, Instead of muddling through it all myself, I thought you guys might be able to help me out. I'm going on a short tour in the first week of june, mostly 100-300 capacity venues. It's also looking like we're playing at the Astoria in June too. eep. At the moment, all I have is: - my warwick corvette - a warwick quad iv (the 400w one) - nothing else (except for a jack lead and lots of enthusiasm) So I have a week to get my hands on - a tuner - a rack - a cab setup (either 2 x small 8ohm or 1 x 4ohm) - a backup bass - 4 sets of strings things to bear in mind: - I only have a little car (a new style Mini), so boot space is limited - the quad iv has speakon and xlr outs only. Has to be run in parallel. - I don't want to spend a fortune Any advice would be *enormously* appreciated.

Hello!

There's a story around that bass in the pic, which I will regale in the near future. It's a sad tale
