It was mainly due to Phil Lynott that I missed out on the Punk era. Not that I'm too upset by that. I just got into it much later......a bit...sort of. I spent a fair bit of the 70's listening to what I still consider to be one of the most underrated bands ever. Thin Lizzy. I happened to dig out the Live and Dangerous CD earlier today and the combination of Lynott on bass and Downey on drums is still a force to be reckoned with. In the middle of 'Emerald' a thought crept into my head. Do any other bass players have statues erected, for want of a better phrase, to them.

My understanding is that Jimi played bass on a lot of the tracks on Electric Lady land as Noel Redding was , alledgedly, more interested in being down the pub. Through stuff gleaned from the net and various documentaries over the years it seems like Hendrix wrote a lot of the bass lines for Redding, also that he had played in several bands in the old days purely as the bass player. Already set my recorder too.

I have a Tanglewood Warrior III FH. Not a bad little bass at all but I have a query. I got it used from a very good friend who had it from new. Prior to this I had never seen one. I've had it for years. It is a very early one and only has 3 pots. There are very few pictures of them with 3 pots. I put it down to being an early model which Tanglewood later improved upon by upgrading to 4 pots to give more control. Recently someone made the statement that it was a fake due to the fact that all III FH's were 4 pots. My answer to that was "B*ll*cks", I know who first bought it and also know that he got it from a reputable music shop. This brings me to ask 3 questions. 1) Has anyone had experience of buying fakes from 'reputable' shops? 2) Would anyone bother to fake a cheap Tanglewood? 3) When did the III FH change from 3 to 4 pots? Cheers.

Just goes to show that if you get something custom built get the builder to sign it and sh*t. You never know, they may get hit by a bus the next day and put the value through the roof.
