2.
I'm sure dood will support me on this !
I do Machines. To call John Myung an awful bass player is to let your personal taste in the band as a whole package cloud your judgement. Have a listen to some of John's other projects if DT gets in the way too much lolz [/friendly jab] I am adding the 'I am taking this thread with the lighthearted tone it should have' emoticon.
 3. In case it hasn't been mentioned already, There's Tom Bowlus's '1x8 / 1x10 shoot out. Tom is a very knowledgeable chap and editor of Bass Gear magazine. I think he has actually owned every piece of bass guitar gear in the world - judging by his gear lists! 7.
me likey! really easy to use! will take a bit of time before i use it live with the band tho! need to get my timing up a bit better but other that that really cool! Very happy! andy
Woooo Hooo!!! Excellent! I know what you mean about the timing though - I'm not used to concentrating on my feet as well as my hands! (I never was any good at football!!) - my 'punch ins' have been a bit random at times - though the Digitech does feature 'auto-quantise' so in most cases I can get away with a lazy foot! I'm really looking forward to getting a few ideas down on video - looking like next week now, but I echo your sentiment! I'm having lots of fun jamming out loops of well known songs, all on bass! Me Likey!
 8.
In the interim, I'm setting up a purely analog/pedal based and mono solution for what I want. In time I'll figure out what I want/need to create my ideal/dream wet/dry/wet arrangement and get the bits I need as I go.
a wet/dry/wet dream you mean? lol lol lol!! sorry...i'll get my coat!
 9.
Cool. So there's actually a variety of different ways you can do it? Either from the controller end, or from the mfx end (depending on the functionality of the two).
Yup yup yup! ;o)
Dood, the FCB/FC200 is a bit massive for my needs... are you aware of anything smaller/more compact?
I'd have to go have a google, but I think Rocktron, Rolls and one or two others make smaller sized MIDI controllers. Whether or not being smaller they lack any functionality - I wouldn't be able to tell unless I had a look at the manuals.
 10. Ok, well - straight away I would suggest the Roland FC-200 foot controller if you can find one - they're cheap as chips as they are no longer made - but you could also use the Behringer equivalent. I have seen these tour with metal bands and have lived to tell the tale . Roland's new pedal board is the FC-300, though I am not really familiar with it. Mine has an additional 7 (i think) sockets on the back for dedicated pedals that can be assigned too CCs on an effects unit. For example different effect parameters. For an effects units - well - for what it sounds like you are after - the TC Electronic G-Force is awesome. Everything you have asked for can be configured either as a patch or an on the fly change. I used this set up for many years and only sold the G-Force as a mistake!! I bought the less configurable G-Major 2 afterward as I missed it so much. The only thing the G-Force doesn't do is a proper distortion / overdrive. TC left that to those who do it best - i.e. dedicated preamps / pedals etc. If you are needing to control a distortion preamp too - then the G-Major 2 has a couple of channel switch controls that can be assigned via MIDI as well. There are other effects units on the market that might do the job as well - but the TC is the quality piece of equipment in a realistic price bracket.
 11. Another thought - recently I have left the controller in it's default settings and programmed the effects unit to recognise the foot controller, as opposed to vice versa. Maybe that is possible for your application?
 12. I have had to program my Roland FC-200 on occasions. It was a bit fiddley at first go - but as for telling you how to do it? I used the manual! The FC-200 has a set up mode where you use the pedals to cycle through the various menus in much the same way as you'd program an effects unit. I am happy to help if anything doesn't make sense!
 13. Tim was brilliant to deal with! Great communications and a very swift deal. Thank you!
 14. In answer to a question I had recently about the Para Driver - Yes, it makes a great Bass preamp - but can be used for a whole host of other instruments too. Here are some YouTube videos: YES! Mine DOES come with the tastey TECH 21 Black tin as seen in the videos
I'll take it please my good man ,,
I've replied to your PM! Yup no problem! Pending sale then ;o) Thank you!
 16. +1 on all the above - and if we're really picking details - even though both cabinets are sharing the input power near enough equally, one cabinet *may* sound louder than the other if it's sensitivity is a higher figure. For example I would expect my old Epifani cab at ~104dB sensitivity to appear far louder with the same amp settings than my old Hartke 4.5XL at ~99dB. A difference of +6dB is said to be twice the volume.

 23. Thanks Badass! Indeed! It sure is a beast with an authoritative punch to it. Great for driving big subs as well as tops.
 24. Hi everyone ;o) I'll get some pics together shortly! I bought this power amp from our very own Tombboy a while back to use with my new cabinets. Now I have myself sorted with a matching Hartke head, this power amp has not been used - I don't forsee needing it in the near future either. So - to clear a bit of space and to pass on a real bagain. Here it is! This amplifier is rated down to 4 Ohms bridged. This is a library picture of the front and rear end: This one doesn't have a big silver logo on the front - which to be honest I prefer without. It looks a bit naff!! ha ha!! here's the spec I copied from t'interweb:
The Peavey PV2600 power amplifier has a massive 900w RMS (1800w program) power per channel at 4 ohms, The Peavey PV 2600 PA power amplifier is perfect for live bands, DJs, clubs, discos, schools, church halls, conference venues and installation, In compact 2 U rack size, the Peavey PV2600 PA power amplifier is massive power in a small package. The Peavey PV 2600 works as a standard full range power amplifier and also features two built-in 150 Hz crossovers for subwoofers. With the crossover selected, the sub frequencies are sent to the speaker outputs to power subs and the higher frequencies are sent to the "HIGH OUT" jack sockets for connection to a separate amplifier for 2-way PA configurations. In addition, the sub 150Hz frequencies are also sent to the "THRU LOW OUT" jack sockets for connection to a second separate sub power amplifier if required.
