How do you think they compare? How well can you overdrive the Ashdown?
MB1. be) steve-soar on here uses that exact ashdown combo and will probably be able to answer your question me thinks! 4. MB1. be) Its the old two turn up at once scenario! nice kingbass black beauty on there now too! not very horselike, though it is black. MB1.
 5. MB1. be) No i think not ,this doesnt even look like one of the very early combos/amps made at soundwave.which was where trace elliot originally traded from, many moons ago. MB1.
 6.
The Stagg's origins were probably even worse than Kays catalogue - it was a "buy it now" through an Ebay store. As for the Thunder III - well, it's not so much porn as maybe just "a nice old slapper"!
MB1. be) The catalogue companys managed to get a supply of westone guitars and basses i remember my mate bought a westone thunder 1 active guitar, basses were also available.they were very well made. The stagg was a tree once, just minding its own business and then......................................................................................................................................................... I was thinking of grabbing one, just to plonk around on occasionally and have sitting looking nice in the corner of the living room. But does anyone know if they actually sound any good, either unplugged or through an amp?
MB1. be) Kinda doubt it would burn for any longer than an hour ,but with a little accelerant, should get you through the omnibus edition of coronation street. MB1.

I subscribe to Bass Player but it is an American mag with American content, and no information on the UK Bass scene. It would be nice to have a monthly read of what is going on over here
MB1. be) could try Bass guitar magazine.....................www.bassguitarmagazine.com
 13.
Hello all, just want peoples opinions really, Im going to change the adjust'a'nut on my doublebuck, as I find them to be a bit flimsy and they've fallen apart on me before, I rarely adjust the action from the head end so im going to change it something solid, Im thinking either graphite or bone, I quite like the idea of a bone one, what would you go for?
MB1. be) The bass centre do warwick brass adjustable ones for £10.00 +p+p.
 14.
oh, no.. the more places the merrier I guess! He'll get more exposure if he is kosha.. and..well.. more if he's not! Seems ok so far though.. not that I have looked too closely at it. I actually wouldn't mind a 16.5mm spacing kingbass. G77 (from BassTalk has a gorgeous kingbass.
MB1. be) So have i,mines the same as the kosha/not so kosha one, without the aid of blackpool illuminations though! MB1.
 15.
I'm sure it will be discussed over on the Statii forum, probably the best resource for all Status gear! Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if they know who the owner of the bass is! ;o)
MB1. be) Damn should have thought about that,oh well, hes got it on here now too! MB1.

 17.
Just gone and bought the mini stack. 18.
I have had a few Kingbasses and the botton end is serious !!! I dont think the finger sound is all that great ,,,but the slap sound is a market leader!!!!! So its either Mark Kings choice of sound or its the ASHDOWNS !! I hired one last year and it was CRAP !!!! Biggest waste of money on the market apart from BERHINGER obviously !
MB1. be) HIRED being the operative word here!
 19.
On the clip of footage kindly linked for us by mr nottswarwick his kingbass does sound quite thin, although i have no prior knowledge of what kingbasses generally sound like. Although i have heard that Mr King himself does use really light guaged strings so i can only put it down to that. I was lucky enough to see Level 42 live when they were at their peak at the Birmingham Odeon many years back, when he was using his jd basses & he did have a fuller sound back then. Although i enjoy his slap playing, i was really into his finger playing even more & he had a really fat groovy beefy sound when he did that which always was a joy for me to hear.
MB1. AGREED! Mr King used to use 30/90s on the jaydee and still got a full sound,i really think this is just a badly mixed live sound, everything seems to be louder than the bass.
 20.
I walked out of a Level 42 gig two or three years back. The sound was terrible, and the venue was worse. Mark King never has had what I'd call a "meaty" sound, but the current setup is poor compared to the Jaydee IMO, lifeless and thin, as stated above.
MB1. be) LEVEL 42 LIVE SOUND. Worst sound ,was a gmex gig in manchester for the"staring at the sun tour" you try playing an alembic in a train shed!. not many bands have willingly played there since, and i for one have never returned. MB1.
 21.
Does Prince use these stacks to make him look normal sized?
MB1. be) With a little red corvette?(warwick of course!) MB1.
check this out
MB1. be) Still sounds like your walking into a room full of pensioners knitting!.(dont get me wrong i am a fan!).Maybe the engineer thought Mr king was the sax player?,even mr lindup seems to get a better sound , but why does it always look like hes going to be sick?.i honestly dont know what to say, maybe a change of batterys,a change of sound engineer? or a lot of crawling to john diggins?.i will not be purchasing your dvd however! all the best MB1.
 23.
Imagine? - no need, it's a scene from Ritchie Blackmore's latest video!
MB1. be) Think youve just entered the grounds to the blackmore estate"ritchie!, get in here now your teas ready! What have i told you about playing with those dwarfs" MB1.
 24.
Are the cabs any good at handling the lower notes an 11" scale bass can dish out? Hamster
MB1. be) With ease, and the amp goes to 11 to! MB1.
