  1. I've had a realisation that I've got more gear than I'm actually using so I am looking to sell my Spector Legend 6. It's a blonde spalted top, very nice to play, it's never been gigged and to be honest it hasn't been used much at all - I bought an Ibanez 6 only a few months after buying the Spector and I haven't gone back to the Spector at all. It's not quite as new, in fact in my opinion it's better than new because it's had some modifications. I've had the pre-amp changed to an Aguilar OBP-3 and the cavity has been fully shielded at the same time as the pre-amp was changed (when I first got it, it was picking up mobile signals - I spoke to a luthier at Spector USA who sent through some copper sheeting to do the job). It's also got Dunlop straplocks fitted to it. All the work has been done by Jon Shuker who is an awesome bass luthier - you'll see plenty of stuff about Jon on this site (he also checked the setup and put a new set of strings on that have hardly been touched - they might have had a few hours use at a push). Like I say it's a lovely sounding bass which is great to play, but I've found that I get on so much better with the 34" scale of the Ibanez's so my Spector is just sat with nothing to do. I'm near Lincoln and would prefer collection although I can meet up somewhere if it's not a massive distance. I can look into posting if requested but I've not got a hard case with it so would obviously be wary of couriers. I'm asking for £550 which seems like a great deal for a standard Legend 6 which are retailing over the £700, but with the upgraded preamp, shielding etc........... 2. I've just received a stunning Ibanez 5006 from Fred. It was a fantastic experience, everything went really smoothly, it was sent quickly well packaged up, communication was spot on and as an added bonus, Fred is a really nice person. Please deal with him in complete confidence. Thanks again for a great bass Fred.
  3. That sounds right up my street - shame I'm not in London!
  4. Bought some pedals off Shep which were exactly as expected. Great to deal with and fantastic communication the whole way through. Would definitely recommend him, although it looks like many others have already said the same.
  5. I bought a wah from Tom. First rate communication and a very pleasant person to deal with. Absolutely no messing at all. And on top of that, talk about getting it sent out quickly!!!!! A top guy to deal with, guess he must be a bass player.
  6. Having picked up bat bass II last Friday, I can promise you that they are seriously stunning in the flesh! This looks like another great one Tim.
  7. My dealings with Mark at BassDirect have been awesome. He's really opened my ears to bass tone and spent a lot of time with me when I've been in there talking through various combinations of amps/cabs/pickups/preamps/basses........... It's fair to say that since going down there, I've had a lot of compliments over my sound and I have been able to model my tone so that I can really hear my mistakes which has unsurprisingly helped my playing!!!! It's like someone has taken the mufflers off my ears. And always fantastic service so I won't hesitate in going down there whenever there's an opportunity.
  8. Apparently Cottonmouth are due on at 9pm.
  9. Just thought I'd put a post out for the blues band Cottonmouth who I used to play with. They're a great bunch of people and great musicians so it would be worth a trip out on Saturday night. They're playing at the Steamboat Inn, Trent Lock, Long Eaton NG10 2FY.
  10. I'll do my best not to go treading on them Bert (note to self to mind Berts [s]delicates[/s] etiquettes). And you're right that this is an awesome place Immo. Man, it's bright in here!
  11. Hello folks, I've been a member of this forum for a while now and use it a lot but have just been lurking in the background. I just got to thinking that it was a bit rude to keep hiding away when this site has helped me: Find a place in a band Find them another bass player when I moved house and had to leave them Buy a bass Find some great bass shops/luthiers Buy yet another bass So as you can see, this place has helped me to keep fuelling the passion of the"tool of ignorance". Anyway, good afternoon to you all - I'm Bazza and I'm the bass player in a Lincoln based rock band called Izengard. If you see me floating about in the virtual shadows please say hello and forgive me if I get any chat room etiquette wrong (I struggle enough with etiquette in the real world so I'm bound to get something wrong at some point). Cheers, Bazza
  12. This is slightly embarrassing for me too as I bought a bass off bassgurumonster back in July/August! Better later than never I suppose. Anyway, I got an awesome Ibanez from Mike who met up with me and let me go back to his place with my amp so that I could give the bass a try. It's sort of got me hooked on the instrument and I've just bought another one......... He was brilliant to deal with, no messing and extremely helpful and friendly. Deal with him in complete confidence.
  13. I've just bought an Ibanez 1306 from Paul. A superb bloke to deal with, great communication the whole way so all I had to do was contain my excitement as it was safely shipped to the UK. Deal with Paul with complete confidence.
  14. Up until very recently I was playing with a great bunch of people in Nottingham but have had to give up due to moving house. So there's a slot available in the band if anyone fancies it. They play Texas swing, blues and rock. Influences include SRV, Robben Ford, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Bonny Rait, Coco Montoya, The Fab Thunderbirds etc etc. They currently have a set of 23 tracks well rehearsed and polished ready to gig - they just now need some bass magic to complete the tunes - and backing vocals would be nice. The band currently rehearse once a week in central Nottingham and are planning to gig once a month when a new bass player has bedded in. As I said at the start, they are a great bunch of people, they also have a laugh, put the effort in, and to top it all they are very talented players. Please get in touch with me if you're interested and I'll pass on any details of interested parties to the band.
