Two very intimate gigs in London so far this week Monday was Emma Swift at The Troubadour, with her other half Robyn Hitchcock as support, then Wednesday was Robyn aboard the replica of Drake's ship The Golden Hinde in Southwark, with Emma providing b/vox for a few numbers.

indeed. I love watching her play, she has such great joy. Peter Hope Evans of Medicine Head is on harp.

A busy week next week: Monday is Emma Swift at The Borderline, her hubby Robyn Hitchcock aboard the replica of Drake's Golden HInde in Southwark on Wednesday, then Gob Nation all-day festival at The Dome in Tufnell Park on Saturday, including Ex-Vöid and The Tubs on the bill.

Local boy Robbie McIntosh with his band at The Sound Lounge in Sutton last night Always a quality act, the gig being 10 minutes' walk from my house was bonus

YouTube is often good for this kind of thing where other, more official channels don't exist. There are certainly some singles and a 1978 Peel session by The Zones there, and it looks like the whole of their Under Influence LP has been posted as individual tracks:

Damn! That looks like gig I regret missing out on

Saturday night it will be Chris Difford at my local venue, The Sound Lounge in Sutton. I, Doris are supporting and they promise to perform their take on Up The Junction from a female perspective, The Girl From Clapham, so this should be fun 😄

Belly at the Camden Electric Ballroom on Weds night, playing their album King start to finish on occasion of it being 30 years old, plus a second set of favourites Gail Greenwood is always excellent value for money as a performer 😎

I suspect he needs to learn to accept he lost the case for valid reasons

I have experienced pretty much this exact scenario! William Morris Club in Wimbledon 1988, and it was 7" single. The dog was well behaved at least. Another time, about ten years later, with a different band, after a couple of pretty successful dates in the autumn, we were booked to play the small room at the Mean Fiddler on 2nd or 3rd January, so everyone was still recovering from New Year. What's more it was a Tuesday night, freakishly cold (something like -7C IIRC) and quite windy to boot. Unsurprisingly, I think we had about three people in the audience. I took a peep into the main room and even the headline act had pulled about ten people in. We were told shortly after that The Fiddler wouldn't be booking us any more because we were not able to get enough people along.

Belly celebrating the 30th birthday of their album KING at the Electric Ballroom in Camden will be my treat on Weds evening

At The Grace in Highbury last night for Laura Kidd, AKA Penfriend (though some might be more familiar with her previous project She Makes War) with able assistance on keys and b/vox, plus a support set of her own songs provided by Carol Hodge. This is Laura's first tour in six years and her last gig in London was in 2019, which I happened to be at too 🙂 They are appearing in Birmingham tonight, I believe.
-
Laura says ‘Hi’ back and that she should drop you a line some time 🙂

Off to see Penfriend (AKA Laura Kidd / She Makes War) at The Grace in Islington tonight. Looking forward to this, I think it's her first London gig since the pandemic.

That was a great moment Thanks again for a brilliant show

I will have to take you up on that invitation! A few snaps from the sidelines last night

I thoroughly enjoyed the selection of songs you played in Kingston this evening (I may have a few photos to post here later 😉 ) The lyrics Mar-a-Lago by the Sea had me and my wife screaming Oh and that Wilcock is very pretty

Legal liability aside, I would not feel comfortable with the moral responsibility if it did indeed turn out to be a genuine alarm and someone was injured after I disabled the alarm. With my fire warden hat on from work, I’m appalled. A key rule is never to re-enter a building in a state of alarm until all clear is given. That is the responsibility of a Fire Marshal or Incident Controller; the person should be familiar with the premises and be fully aware of all the potential hazards therein. A company cannot simply outsource the role of Incident Controller / Fire Marshal that does this to its customers and visitors to its premises. On the evidence available it’s hard to see how Pirate can demonstrate that they have an effective emergency action plan is as required by law; clearly if they have one, it is not working. E2A: where the premises are routinely unstaffed, then that just means the emergency action plan must be more robust and actionable.

If Pirate treat their AI chatbots as members of staff by paying national minimum wage, NI & tax together with sick leave, holiday leave and other employment rights, then it’s perhaps fair to apply policies against using the public using inappropriate language toward them. Until that day, it’s an overreaction on Pirate’s part.

You can thank Dave from me for doing a great job! 👏
