1.
Good job man! are you allowed to talk to us about contracts etc? Id be interested to hear the juice.
Basically I bought the bass, it was brilliant. I needed a replacement tuner tho. I went to Music Live 2008, spoke to a guy on the stand and after a few emails back and forth I was on the site. I'm doing this purely because I think the bass is awesome. I started off with a Vintage g*itar many years ago. I honestly think that the Vintage brand stuff is better than anything else in the price range. When I was looking for the bass I now play I tried a few competitors and nothing was quite this good for the money!
 2.
yet youre playing a rick in your avatar
Not anymore I'm not
Nice one Jarrod...the boys mentioned it last night...tidy darts!
Cheers Jase. I was in the right place at the right time, can't believe my luck!
 3.
Nice one - good for you. Does that mean you can only play Vintage basses when gigging etc? If it does, could find a good home for that Fresher of yours
I'll be using vintage exclusively yup! I wouldn't sell you the Fresher, firstly I want it cos Nicky Wire played one... secondly it's got a crack in the headstock from where I dropped it at the end of a gig... lol
"I found it difficult to find a bass that packed enough punch, with good playability and most importantly one that was good value for money. The V4 has this in spades" Is this a direct quote? Nice one
Yup, a direct quote indeed. As some of you know I've been dabbling with a number of different basses. I was after a Sid Vicious style bass not too long ago, I stumbled on the vintage and it blew my socks off for the money!
 4. to endorse me Link
 5.
Bugger i missed that one, i do like the look of that.
Absolutely stunning instruments, if it's anything like my 6 string version it'll sustain for days too. Despite what people think plexiglass produces a good tone (infact because there's no imperfections like wood the vibrations are better)
 6.
its not a faker so a bit offtopic, but this is nice. 4000
Perfect punk rock Rick for me, don't like the price though. Especially since the poor thing would take a battering from me
 7. I'm incredibly frustarted with my laptop! It crashed before I had a chance to put my bid in for this rare as rocking horse poo beauty. CSL Plexi I've got the matching 6 string already and to make matters worse it went for less than I was prepared to pay
 8. Interesting bass - that top horn reminds me of an Ibanez Iceman. Good luck with the sale, it looks a lot more expensive than it is
 9. That mapleglo Ibanez is the perfect sorta Rickenfaker for me and my pumpy punk basslines. Not liking the price tho hah!
 10. I agree with Bassassin, that's mental.
 11. I might be able to stretch a little towards that mark. Since Xmas is coming up I might be able to squeeze some cash outta my parents.
 12.
I sold the original p/u on Basschat and (I think) the bridge too so can't put it back to original (although I do have a spare MIA Fender P bridge). Think I paid a little over £300-off eBay (was imported from Japan so had to pay duties) and the mods cost >£100 (Badass c£40, SD Q-P c£70)
I've been looking for a white Sid style P-Bass so I'd be interested. Maybe we could come to an arrangement?

 15.
The two may be linked... Anyway, in my normal subtle way, I shall point out that Pepsi Tate evidently has no further need of the original, so you could try and find that instead of getting a replica.
I know the Tailz, nice bunch of boys. Pepsis wife has the bass and quite frankly I wouldn't want anyone else to own it. I've only been asking about luthiers because I asked the original luthier for a quote (he still makes that design). In excess of 3k. Ridiculous not matter how much of a fan I am
 16.
You'd have to season it for several years before using that. Course, get it anyway, stack it up in garage, will be doing your future self a favour. With luthiers its always the time not the materials that is the cost.
Good idea. In a few years time when I get my own house I wanna invest in a nice computer aided router. I'll be able to make my own stuff then
 17. I look like a girl?... No but seriously, I play a fluffy leopard print bass and I like Nicky Wire. May aswell be one haha I'm a lesbian trapped in a mans body to quote Eddie Izzard lol
 18. I might be able to get my hands on the wood. They're cutting down some maple trees where I work and I could see if they'd be kind enough to cut me some blanks. I could also provide my own hardware.
 19. Thanks for the insight. Already thought of Dearnley Jase (by the way... I need them new rock boots, I'm playing with a 6ft 4 guitarist and I stand at 5ft 7 on a good day ) - lovely bloke but he's pricey. Went down his workshop a few years ago to aquire some hardware for a guitar project I was doing... had a stunning Zemaitis Les Paul shaped bass - metal top to boot. That was a beaut but 2 Grand - ouch! Really I'd be looking at a budget of around £600 to be honest.
 20.
Why do you want holes in your bass? Purely cosmetic? Weight reduction?
Because I want a replica of Pepsi Tates bass. Sort of poigniant really since he passed away a year ago tomorrow. He's one of my biggest inspirations and I've wanted a replcia for a while. Just though now would be the time.
 21.
Are those holes to reduce wind resistance when hitting the guitarist?
hahaha! I'm a guitarist aswell as bass but yes.. guitarists are a pain in the arse Especially ones who can play better than me.... damn them for being able to read music.. damn tem all haha
 22.
Extreme chambering! Get a set of forstner bits/holesaws and attack a bass with a drill press?
Already been there. Bought a cheap bass and experimented with it. Looks okay but it plays like cack. To be honest I just want a nicely built replica - sort of a tribute to Pepsi Tate.
 23. Does anyone know of any luthiers who don't charge an arm and a leg? I'm looking to get a bass like this - but in black. I'm pretty flexible with hardware/materials. Providing the instruments well made and setup.
