  1. Love it or hate it it's an iconic bass in punk. I'm itching to get my very own, unfortunately there are no production models - only custom shops (I think) Anyone know if there's any sneaky similar basses out there?
  2. Ah that's cool. I ask because I know someone with an Arbiter who's not too fond of it and I might be able to prise it from them
  3. I phoned last night and the guy said it had been sold. Glad it's gone to a good home and another BC'er. Looking forward to seeing the pics!
  4. Does anyone know if the Arbiter copies are any good?

  6. I was actually thinking about making a TRC myself... not a Rickenbacker one. a NICKenbacker one, since I'm a Nicky Wire fan haha That Fresher is a Nickenbacker in Wireglo
  7. Yeah that's the one. The fretboard isn't too bad. It needs a new nut since the groove for the E is worn out (currently being supported by a rollen up square of card - I kid you not) It's generally worn around the edge but rough n ready suits me, I would never play a mint condish bass! The thing literally weighs a stone. How difficult is it to obtain a convincing looking truss rod cover?
  8. I got that Fresher off ebay... *braces self for shooting down*
  9. How heavy is ya average Rickenfaker? Cos I managed to get one and it's an absolute back breaker!
  10. Yeah, thos Shines are stunning. It's a shame they cost so much though. Shine are usually bargain basement guitars. those basses should be around the £300 mark instead
  11. Interesting find!! Found a swedish website selling the Shine Rickenfaker with a major difference to the model on the Shine site. The headstock is the same! Looks an absolute beauty - however £500 is a bit much
  12. Here's some pics of me playing the Jolana
  13. It is 3 piece maple, also the body is three piece. I managed to get it from crack convertors for £60, I saw it, laughed and pulled out my debit card. It was worth that on spec for sure. The old girl just needs a good setup
  14. Ibanez? How many of those were badgeless then? Out of interest how much is it worth?
  15. Bought this yesterday from Crack Converters where I live. Any ideas who it could be by, it's 70s Japanese for sure. Identical to a 57 P Bass (minus the bridge cover and thumb rest - which I intend to add). Pickup sounds junk (REALLY wooly) so I'll have to replace it. Strangely no dot markers.
  16. yeah I could but I don't think I will. Can't really be bothered risking it on that bass in the shape it was in. Plus it wasn't very accurate at all. the only thing that was correct was the body and headstock shape.
  17. I was on easyjet. As such no instruments allowed as hand luggage and the guy only had a gig bag for it. I was looking at the setup. The neck was bowed like hell. When I get my photos back I'll show you a pic of me playing the actual bass. I have to be fair though, aside from the god awful action the weight balance was great and the sound suprisingly good. Have I made a massive mistake here?
  18. Seriously??? It was the version with the set neck aswell. I've been after a Rickenfaker as you know but that thing played like sh*t. My hand was killing after the show
  19. Got back from Hungary today. Headlined a festival out there, the lead singer sorted out the gear we borrowed for the weekend and I ended up playing a Jolana D bass. Neck was like a tree and the action was so high I could slide my passport underneath. I was offered it for £40 but declined..

  22. ah sorry should've gone into more detail. I'm after a decent full scale neck. Really I'm looking for a Rickenfaker with a bolt on neck that's seen better days body wise. Something That I can pick up for reasonable money and use as a donor. I'm a bit gutted that I missed that neck on ebay a few weeks ago, if I knew I could've got this bas built then I'd have bought that
  23. Anyone have any ideas where I can get a neck and other parts? Cheers
  24. Sweet =] What about the fixing for the pickup, have you got that or could Pete make it? I'm absolutely lost for a neck. Preferably I'd want one from a faker
  25. Never ever played it. I'll ask the boys, I'm the new kid haha. I've been quoted £200 for a Rickenbacker shape provided I can provide the bits n bobs to go on the body. Anyone know of a butchered bolt on 4001 copy I can get my hands on as a doner?
