1.
Bearing in mind the contradictions identified by some of the guys here, do we know for sure that this isn't a bass of mixed origin?
Designed in California, made in Mexico and living in the UK isn't mixed origin enough for you?
2.
I wonder if it was a special run? It certainly looks a nice find!
Yes, they were a FSR but were available for quite some time. I very nearly bought a BM Jazzmaster at the time, great colour
3. Hi Karl, having worked for Fender around then I can confirm that you're right as they were marketed as a 60's, no specific year given. I can see how someone would argue that it's based on a 62, but that's an argument I personally can't be arsed with
4.
Hi guys Battery was changed yesterday. I'm going to check it out tomorrow but as of tonight if I turn the volume down its stops clipping. I had never seen the blue clipping light until my FNA turned up. It does seem to output some serious tone.
Are the pickups too high?
5. Bought a pedal from Chris. Posted quickly, packed well and friendly emails so all good. Thanks pal.
6. Was my pleasure to sell a lovely bass to Andy. Friendly emails and great communication throughout. A top bloke for sure
7.
What are you going to do about the frets when they wear out?
Take them out and sell them on eBay as 'original vintage' and for a bargain £250.
8.
That's fine as far as it goes and I agree with you. However, when someone says that they can't offer you what you are asking for your bass because it isn't 100% original because of the replaced pot despite it being included in the sale then that is a problem. How much are you meant to knock off for an original pot not being fitted but included. Seems daft to me.
I hear you mate. I'd think that the 'buyer' is either trying it on, or that it simply isn't the bass for them if they are that picky about a pot and subsequent discount. If they want it all original then why are they not bothered by new solder? I wouldn't want to be pushed into a corner by someone that anal. There is no discount rules, just depends on what you're both happy with.
9. Problem is, if you need to take out the pot to fix it then the solder isn't virgin anymore.... Seems like a waste if time to me. I'd just replace it and include it in a sale IF someone is that bothered. Done it myself a few times on more vintage bases than an 81.
10. Seni, don't do this to us! I love these guitars and remember them coming out very well, always wanted one as they put so much effort into making these right. The poodle case is awesome too. Oh well, not this time GLWTS pal
11. You're right that it's a mid range boost and cut, but with no centre dent
12.
....and Chiliwailer is the Yoda of Fender :-)

^^^^^^ truth
Right you are not, double bass does Yoda play
13. Looks legit Karl, perhaps just the covers have been changed to make it look classic. Alnico 35's they are. See here... http://support.fender.com/service_diagrams/jazz_bass/019-4580A_SISD.pdf
14.
Probably one of the worst openings I've seen for a while, but I didn't really have high expectations from Coldplay. Don't really know what the organisers were thinking booking them. Thought things were on the up when Bruno turned up, but he trotted out the predictable and Beyoncé certainly didn't add anything. Oh good, Coldplay are back on. Yawn.
Just finished watching the game, skipped the half time show due to my Coldplayphobiaitus. Not the best of games either unfortunately.
15. I love TI's and have them on a Lull PJ and Warwick Thumb 5. But in my experience they don't suit all basses. Well worth a set from DV247 though to try out.
16.
Surely that is NOT a desired feature?
That'll depend on if you're busting out some fat grooves
17. Do they tighten up your groove?
18.
Just spat my tea out over myself. Thanks
I hope that's not a euphemism
19. Classic - alnico 5 - ceramic 5 for me. Though they sound great, I just could never get on with that ceramic MM tone, not Stingray enough for me. Kind of like getting a blonde girl home and realising that the collars and cuffs don't match...
20. I wouldn't buy the regular Fender pickups, though the CS ones aren't bad. That said, I'm a huge fan of Lindy Fralin, I've had them on J's and P's and they are great for a vintage vibe with some modern oomph. But then I've also had great experiences with Jason Lollar, SD Custom Shop or Antiquity and Nordstrand. So many good pickups out there......
21. I hear you mate, but for some guys, it's not about the money at all. They may want to avoid the emails and viewings, or maybe they have a tasty collection and they don't want people coming around and seeing that. So they are either paranoid of people or payments and scams. If money is no object to them, then they are happy to pay the commission so that they don't have to put the time in. I had the opposite recently. Bear in mind that when selling very expensive gear sometimes buyers trust dealers and shops more. If I'd of sold my 57 P Bass via a commission sale I'd have got back more than I did selling it on BC as they'd have priced it much higher and taken less commision than usual due to the rarity and high value. But at least this way I got my money back when I needed it, and I didn't have to wait months to get the cash back from a dealer who's selling at a premium rate.
22. I just can't believe this is still here at THAT price, this bass is crazy value for money. If I hadn't just sold my 57 P Bass to pay bills I'd have been all over this one. What in earth is going on with the the market at the moment? GLWTS
23. Another smooth and easy deal, with Chris. Always a pleasure, never a hassle. A good man.
24. Oh gosh, two bargain Lull 5's on BC at the same time... GLWTS Isa, she's one to be trusted.
25. 3rd deal completed with Isabelle. I don't speak French, so limited ( nice and to the point) communication is fine by me
