1. Selling a 2 month old 5 string set. These were on a Warwick Thumb 5 (and man did they sound great), I didn't cut them too short, but they would be better suited to a 3+2 tuner set up. If you like I can also throw in a high C string from another set that was only used for about 15 mins. I've just noticed a slight kink in the string since taking it off, it might come out under tension but I'm not sure in all honesty. Price includes My Hermes shipping. 2.
I hear '80 was a good year at Marlin, equivalent to '62 at Fullerton?
Shhh, or the prices will go up.
 3.
I won't miss it this time and it is £25 less
And, once you've had a fictional 'North American maple neck' you never go back...
 4.
"This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing." Missed
Fear not, opportunity is once more yours http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1980-Marlin-Slammer-Fender-Precision-electric-bass-guitar-VINTAGE-RARE-/121967020851?hash=item1c65cd0b33:g:X7wAAOSwqbZXFMKB
 5. My Ozark acoustic bass that I've had since I was 16, so 22 years. Followed very closely by my Lull PJ4, very much hoping I never sell that one. Can't see why I would really.
 6.
Nice bass. I like my BO version.
Cheers pal
 7.
I used to like 70s Fender Precisions, have had 3, all were great. Loved the mojo about them having picked up a bit of wear along the way. But then in one of my fits of madness did a cull, sold them all and have gone for the post 2012 Precisions, having heard a soundclip on here - Spongebobs btw. Bought mine (a 2015) online, when it turned up was a bit concerned as for a while my fretting hand ached a bit, as the neck was a bit deeper than I was used to. Now having got used to it - only took a couple of weeks - I`m so glad I did it. The new Precision is a much better instrument, sounds better, plays better (all imo of course, might not be for others) and any wear that happens is going to be mine. I like it so much I`ve bought another, just for home use. So in my mind I like vintage instruments, and to the eye as well, but if honest, I`ve not yet played a vintage instrument I like as much as my 2015. It`s really changed my opinions on new instruments as was never that keen before, thought them too shiny and soul-less. I was wrong.
Great post Lozz
 8. This guy should be a politician... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1980-Marlin-Slammer-Fender-Precision-electric-bass-guitar-VINTAGE-RARE-/121960388677?hash=item1c6567d845:g:X7wAAOSwqbZXFMKB
 9.
Nice basses, but heavy and very precise, I found them quite impersonal. Same problem with Warwicks.
Normally I'd agree, except for 'vintage' Warwicks that is
 10. Updating my favourite thread. Gutted that my Thumb was aggravating my pain, loved that bass, but now also loving having a Music Man back in the family The 3 M's - Mike Lull, Music Man & Modulus
 11. I love vintage basses, and have owned a fair few 50's and 60's Fenders. These days I don't have one and I'm not exactly that bothered either tbh. But there was a time in my 20's when I felt like I 'needed' one. It was a phase but I'm glad I went through it. Since then the ones I've owned have been purely for fun, because I'll never believe they are better than modern ones, just a different vibe, and great when they are good ones. But man there are some pre CBS pigs out there too, I've played a fair few of them. Sometimes certain wood was just meant for tables, not basses
 12. Been playing mine today, love them. GLWTS, shouldn't take long.
 13. Just read this - On Saturday, the day after he was released from the hospital, Prince took the stage at a dance party near his home and curiously said, "Wait a few days before you waste any prayers." Painkillers in the US are way stronger than in the UK, I know first hand after extremely painful surgery there. Highly addictive, massive highs and as serious as class A's. Maybe he knew the damage but was struggling, like millions of others do.
 14.
Just be thankful your yob isn't the early 60's and your Fenderish
Just be thankful your yob isn't 1978 and your Fenderish .... Ok, I know there are SOME good ones out there....
 15.
Don't really understand the attraction of owning a bass that was previously owned by a well-known bass player. It's not as if any of his ability or expertise resides in the instrument and will somehow rub off on the new owner, is it? In fact in my case, every time I picked the bass up to play it I'd be reminded of the fact that the previous owner is more talented and more successful than I'll ever be and obviously didn't want this particular bass anyway because he sold it! 'Enjoy playing your crappy yet expensive Pino cast-off, you talentless fecking loser-nonentity!!' ...Would be the words going through my head. So not for me, thanks.
Haha! Me too for sure.
 16.
I wasn`t meaning to run down Clive`s work. I have seen some photos of his work and it`s top notch. I was just trying to work out what bit of the bass he had worked on seeing as it is a bit of a state. Sorry, full of Mojo It must be the battery box repair.
Didn't think you did mate I thought that perhaps to some the name Clive Brown may mean the to them the same as Joe Bloggs, that's all
 17. Looks like it, watching it on sky news now.

 19. Another big factor Rick has to contend with at NKR is that most of the gear there is on a commision sale basis, so if the selling punter wants the top end of the market back on it, there's another chunk on top for the shops end, (then eBay's end which factors on cheaper gear too). However for some buying punters this is ok because they'd rather pay extra and spend their hard earned £1000's in an established shop, with a bonified reciept, rather than buying from say you or me. I love the guys at NKR and had 3 happy years there, I can't defend £16k but i bet it'll sell for much less in the end. Perhaps it's also that Pino only wants to sell if he can get top dollar? It is what it is, buy it or don't i guess. In my time there I saw some lovely gear come in and out, some hang around and some sell in a flash, it's a funny market that'd give me sleepless nights if it was my bread and butter. Like Jebo1 said, it's all gone a bit silly now, but the wheels still turn somehow.
 20.
"Paint re touching by Clive Brown" Eh??
Clive is a bit of a hero in the vintage world. He calls his work 'restorations' rather than refinished. Some of his work is simply outstanding. This is not the best example to be fair, but then it did have a huge chunk taken out of it
 21.
Thanks Daniel. I would definitely be open to acupuncture again if it was recommended as I had it some years ago when I damaged my radial nerve. That and some fairly rigorous physio made it bearable at least.
That's good to hear, it's only as good as the practitioner so hope you find a good one if you end going for it.
 22. Really sorry to hear about your situation mate. I can't help, but as I've had great results with acupuncture I looked at this http://www.acupuncture.org.uk/public-content/public-ask-an-expert/ask-an-expert-muscles-and-bones/ask-an-expert-muscles-and-bones-hands-and-fingers/3707-would-acupuncturist-help-for-trigger-thumb.html it's not exactly helpful, but another iron for the fire perhaps. Best of luck with the issue pal
 23.
Could it be that it's not actually a very good bass?
Might be, but then he has been selling a few through them recently.
 24. <p>
At one time, Kiwi had a Modulus Sonic Hammer -- which I believe was the bass on which the Flea model was based. It was an absolute monster. He brought it to my place once and we tried it at some considerable volume through my rig in the garage. If I recall correctly, a shelf fell off the wall.
Haha! Yup, they are absolute monsters. I love my Stingray 5 but it sounds tame compared. Reminds of the time I took my 300 watt Valve Head and 4x10 to my mates house. We plugged it in upstairs, played some heavy dub sounds and came downstairs to find his little 1 year old terrior shaking in a puddle of pee EDIT: I do love animals, shouldn't laugh really but you had to be there. She got lots of cuddles
 25.
Just love that bass. Hang onto that one mate. It's a cracker.
Funnily enough, I was offered £2500 and then £3000 this morning by a guy who's chasing one and saw I had one. The very risky process doesn't add up for me though .... Paypal, live and work abroad etc. So luckily I don't have a painful decision to make because well, it's a killer bass but £3000 is £3000
