1.
...the GB 212T...

...stupidly placed handles!
Now those cabs really did have ridiculously placed handles... I liked the tone (sold mine in the end to go for a 2x112 setup) but wheeling them around with the handles placed as they were was impossible... the handles did remain attached though....
 2.
I'd price a SH U.S J5 Deluxe at around £1000 ...
So would I although I never see them listed for that price... I think they are the most over priced second hand bass I've ever seen, I regularly see them going up for £50 less than the new price plus shipping, then remaining unsold for months before being withdrawn...
 3.
I was passing time in GuitarGuitar and tried it out. It blew me away and I went home without it and pined. Went back a day later and just bought it. I knew I wouldn't be able to get another one and it's a keeper. I'm getting a clear pickguard made too.
It's a beauty... It just looks so well proportioned as a five string.
 4.
I think we need to put this to the test. Any chance of a cab-off at the SE Bass Bass?
Would be great to have a blind test like the P bass one.... same bass, same amp, same player with a 112 from various maunfacturers.
 5. Popped in Wunjos on Saturday with Mrs C on the way past. I was asked in both the bass and guitar shops that If I wanted to try anything just pick it up... very refreshing It is an excellent policy to make everyone who comes in the shop feel that they are welcome to try anything they like - it's also nice to be left to it when you say your just there for a look... To anyone who hasn't been in Wunjos, all this praise might seem like a bit of band wagon jumping but it really is a cut above your average music shop in my experience. I'm not overly enthralled with their stock personally, but they are obviously going for brands and instruments they can shift quickly over any custom stuff likely to have a more specific appeal, which is totally understandable. On another note... I noticed that there were literally hundreds of cardboard guitar boxes in the street outside, which presuambly was from that days new stock? I thought everyone bought guitars on the internet these days? If there are this many new instruments coming into Denmark Street every day then someone must still be buying from proper guitar shops....
 6.
Not my photo but identical to mine:
That is a lovely looking bass...
 7. Everyone knows that Red basses go faster though...
 8.
etc.
I have hats very similar to these (In fact I think I own one exactly the same as the second one)... good in the sun, good in the rain, no danger of being regarded as fashionable by anyone...
 9. Although i did sell a bass a while ago to a guy off gumtree who turned up in a purple velvet top hat.....
 10.
I'm northern & often wear a bowler hat at festivals. thinking of getting a top hat next
Both of those are fine... No bowlers or top hats around brick lane on a friday night, everyone wears a flat cap to indicate their individuality and nonconformity...
 11. I'm unable to wear a flatcap... I'm not old enough or northern so can't get away with it as genuine headware... If I was to wear one I'd look like I was trying to be one of those guys from shoreditch with tight jeans and pointy shoes...
 12.
Ultimate Level 42 on Facebook, lots of explanation of what happened on there
Thats not exactly going to be a factual impartial source though is it....
 13. A vote for finger wagging bureaucracy here I'm afraid... You can't ignore border control laws because of someones "rock n roll spirit" that's ridiculous... whats next, letting someone into the country with no paperwork because they seem like a jolly nice chap? No-one knows exactly what happened here, there is definitely more to this.. it's the usual sensationalist reporting because it's a young girl involved... would be an absolute non story if this was a middle aged man.
 14.
If she didn't have the right papers, then surely that is the job that immigration officers are supposed to do, isn't it?
This... I very much doubt they would have detained her if she had all the correct papers. Also, how young was she? can't see that a young teenage girl on her own wandering round the country is a very good idea anyway....
 15. In fact I've just had a look in the classifieds and you can get all four of the following for less than £800 in total... Sterling Sub http://basschat.co.u...in-l210-posted/ J&D Jazz http://basschat.co.u...azz-bass-l7000/ MIM Fretless Jazz http://basschat.co.u...50-inclpostage/ Yammy 5er http://basschat.co.u...mmaculate-l250/
 16. On the other hand, with a grand you could get a reasonable second hand jazz, some sort of sitingray copy, a fretless and a more modern active jobbie and have some change left over... Could try out all the main types of bass then move them on for little or no loss once you've decided which suits you best.
 17. To be honest I'd spend a chunk of that money on a decent amp... Those squires are solid enough basses and with a good amp you'd have as good a sound as anyone else out there really. A grand will get you alot of bass, especially in the second hand market, you could get pretty much anything you wanted. As nige says above though, definitely give it a while to find out what you really want before spending all that money.... whilst this is good advice, many on BC (myself included) are easilly distracted by shiny things online and keep accidentally clicking 'add to basket'...
 18. As above really.... I do think they have the quintessential Warwick sound, great basses... although I did once see the aesthetics described on here as looking like a coconut on a stick
 19. When I'm going to gigs on public transport I take an MB200 in the gigbag and carry an EA wizzy 10... It's a tiny setup and gives me 200 watts to hear myself, then I run the DI out to FOH... no chance of taking a spare bass though.
 20.
I was an optimist, once upon a time. The real world beat it out of me.
+1
 21. Met Shemeck for a deal at London Bridge last night, couldn't have gone smoother Great comms and a nice guy. Deal with confidence. Rob
 22.
If all else fails, Thomann at less than £11.00 a pair...free postage if you buy a new bass at the same time
That's a wonderfully suprious excuse for buying a new bass.... I love it.
 23.
I'm away from home for a few weeks CamdenRob but here's one from my phone. Can't seem to upload photos so a link will have to do sorry. When I get back I'll sort something better.
Wow... that's about half of them? you'll have to go double height with the rack...
 24.
So some folks are taking 2 Basses and a toilet to the gig?
It's a bit like using the house rig, if you don't like whats provided then take your own. I used to have a wonderful gig toilet made by a well known british manufacturer... it was lightweight with a nice sliver cloth cover but I got rid of it when the handles fell off....
 25.
You wouldn't happen to have their BC pseudos, just so we'd know..?
Not BCers obviously whom are without exception an upstanding bunch.... Outside of BC I could name a few bands bassists around london that i'd advise against letting within six feet of your gear.... or your toilet....
