1.
Anyone want these? Couldnt get on with them. You need a 2 a side headstock - wont fit a Fender style. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/190079-fs-%3B-elixir-stainless-bass-string-set-l17-taken-off-a-spector-euro-after-1-months-use/page__fromsearch__1
Too thick for me, I'm a .40-.95 man. That reminds me, actually - I had a quick look earlier and I couldn't actually see my preferred gauge in stainless, but could for the nickels. maybe that was because the retailer didn't have any but not sure.
  2. I've also been using the originals for years; for me they feel brilliant and literally last 6 months at least. Couldn't be happier but also want to try the new ones just out of curiosity. Thanks for the link. I'd be interested to hear how you get in with yours ped
  3.
I'm with Happy Jack on this - the current (old) format with plenty of chat does let you suss out what's what with a lot of sales and, I've felt, gives me more confidence in purchasing e.g. by post which is a real trust thing. This new format seems much too open to gumtree-style scams in comparison
Hi mate You can still comment on the 'questions' tab. Cheers

    Thank You KiOgon

It's great that my bass represents the sense of community on BC. It's reminding me how special this forum is.
  6. Recently I decided that I wanted to install two buttons to control the Roland GK system into my bass. I asked on BC if anyone could help me source some appropriate momentary function push buttons and I had a response from KiOgon who sent me a couple of samples. After we got chatting about the installation process he offered very kindly to do it for me. All I had to do was supply the bits. I installed the GK system myself a couple of years ago but since moving house I don't have the equipment to do a neat job of this further addition. So, when the bits arrived from Roland I emailed KiOgon to say 'when are you available'. 'Any time' he replied... 'Now?' I ventured... and two hours later I was parking up outside his house 104 miles away. Needless to say he was a welcoming and friendly chap who did a superb job of the install whilst I watched on, feeling somewhere between terror and awe as I watched him drill holes in my bass: And here's the finished job (sorry, crap pic): Vigier Passion GK by chiscocks, on Flickr Thinking about it, this bass has been 'adapted' over the years by a few BC members. The pickup surround was made by a BCer from Australia many years ago, before BC was called BC, and the bass itself was bought on BC and filled with Marleaux electronics by Eubassix here on the forum. So, thanks KiOgon, thanks very much for helping me. Cheers ped
  7.
Cool, thanks loads! I'll drop them an enquiry through that site then Whatever made you get rid of that Jazz, by the way!?
No probs let us know how you get on... I loved that bass, it sounded brilliant, but the slab fronted body was quite uncomfortable at times and I needed the money, basically. It could never compare to my #1 anyway so it was a luxury I could afford to let go. It's the best sounding 5 string Jazz I've ever played and I often wonder where it is now! Cheers
  8. I had one of these. Really cool piece of kit. I'd have one on my current bass but there's no room! I bought mine directly from their site and even though it's a bit expensive and a piece of foam works pretty much just as well, it's much quicker and a nicely engineered solution They get my thumbs up!

    My collection!
its all about the dymo label. Switch position looks about right to me.
I love Dymo labels!! Yeah it's hard to put them in line with any other knobs because nothing lines up but they look quite neat like this and are in a nice position for adjusting in the fly. Looking forward to having it all set up!

    My collection!

Alright, the bits are on their way but I also have some 'momentary' buttons here which I might use (depending on what the Roland ones are like) I'm thinking I'll put them here roughly, bearing in mind how much space there is inside the cavity
  11. Excellent list. Thanks. I have some very old Basstec pickups in my bass, I believe they were used by Marleaux a while ago. How about Benedetti pickups http://n.mercadal.free.fr/ Cheers
  12. The pinnacle of Rotosound's long and exciting history was when I visited them recently. I'll remind Jason http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9v5q03sYjE&feature=g-upl
  13. Love that!!! Brilliant. And scarily realistic. lol

    My collection!
Just finished a phone call to Roland UK - I'm going to install the 'up' and 'down' buttons so that I can switch between patches. There's two small push buttons to facilitate this which will go in between the stacked bass/treble and magnetic pickup pan. A friendly BCer has offered to help me with the circuitry, too.

Looking forward to it... will post pics when the bits arrive (approx 3 weeks from Japan, apparently!)

I know some will say it's not great to customise the bass too much but realistically this is MY bass and I'm not selling it for anything, so this little customisation is something I have been thinking about having used the same setup for a few years now, and having realised the Vbass is a really essential piece of kit in my setup.

Cheers

ped
15. Didn't you have a S2 Vigier Passion for a bit? IME they have a velvety growl that slices through the mix with a warmth that throws its arms around it, too. Although playing style accounts for a lot, I don't think you can get any bass to sound like any bass.
Ped, you really need to get out more mate. It is a terrific achievement though. It's now't without the members though.
Lol well if I got out more, there wouldn't be Basschat!! Good point RE the members, we're very lucky to have such a great community.
  18. Ah excellent!! There's a Vigier porn thread somewhere so you can add your pics.
  19. Looking great chaps - have those pics ready for the new site, should be with us in a little while....
  20. Yeah, I lolled but it's better than nothing!! I would say that probably less than 5% of the finished transactions via BC include a donation to the site. It's not why we do it, but it's nice when people take the trouble, even if it's pennies.
  21.
WHAT? You put £960 in your own pocket? I knew I shouldn't take the risk! best, bert
I gave you the £40 to keep quiet, wish I took the whole £1k now!
  22. Hi guys Thanks for the donations again, and yes the modest profit from the shop goes to the site and every little helps. We've had donations ranging from 10p to £40, but we appreciate each one. Cheers
  23. Great pics... it looks like it's brand new!
There are 2.376 million bass players out there?
Or one bored man with lots of computers!
  25. Ah of course, that'll teach me to look things up whilst I should be working. I'll see if Patrice Vigier can shed any light on the exact date, then. I've never had a metal laminate model, I bet they have a sound all of their own. Funnily enough I have seen an Arpege at CrackConverters before, though I think it was snapped up quickly. You struck gold, there - and what an excellent price. Enjoy it and remember, French = best! ped
