  1. How are you finding the the Digitech drop? I have been considering getting one to practice songs at home that are downtrend by 1/2 step, but that my band plays in standard tuning, as it would save me down tuning at home all the time. I wouldn't be using it for anything more than a step down, so would be interested in hearing how it is
  2. This thread has got me thinking that I should start to use my Hiscox case, as my Fender gig bag that came with my bass has seen better days
  3. Just to add to this, I have been using the AO500 for most of the year and have been really pleased with it. at our last gig I used my Tech21 Steve Harris in front of it and found that the amp cut through our mix so much more. I had all of the EQ on the Steve Harris at noon, and dialled in the gain to around 2. I am going to try the same setting at next weekends gig as well
  4. I have a Hiscox hard case and a fender gig bag. I rarely use the Hiscox for anything other than storage at home as it’s quite unwieldy
  5. Another vote for the Corona Chorus, I used one for years and loved the Duff Mckagen toneprint download
  6. I have the Tech 21 Steve Harris preamp and love it, I've got my eye on one of the new Frank Bello ones as well, but not sure how much different it will be to warrant the expenditure.
  7. Yep, understood. However we had never had any noise complaints before, and were playing in quite a large open air space. He didn’t have any of the aforementioned noise reducing equipment on him that night
  8. The worst we have had is "the drums are too loud". Literally nothing we could do about it on the night as it was an un mic'd kit, and our drummer is a hard hitter
  9. Next one for me is British Lion in January at Leo's Red Lion in Gravesend. I saw them there a couple of years ago, and it was quite something being within touching distance of one of my favourite bass players!
  10. Good to hear you are pleased with it. I found the notched volume hard to get on with, and thought it a strange design choice. It is not something I'd ever come across before on the numerous guitar & bass amps and hi fi equipment that Ive used over the years. When I got mine, I thought it was broken at first as in my excitement to open and use it, I plugged my cable into the foot switch socket in error, and couldn't work out why it it didn't work!!!!
  11. I played with The 77s band at The Druids Arms in Maidstone on Saturday. We only got the booking the day before due to the scheduled band cancelling but fortunately we were all available to do the gig. We had played there once before in the summer, its a good venue in the town centre, playing outside on a stage in a covered courtyard. We had not had a gig together since mid September (the other 3 had played with a dep the week before whilst I was on holiday) but it went well and we were surprisingly tight. A friend came along and was able to take some videos which are now on our newly formed you tube channel. It was a cold wet night and the crowd varied in size through the evening, but had at least 50 at peak. Picture below of our homemade light up sign!
  12. I have the Boss WL20L - its great. For live use, Ive had it drop out due to the amount of wireless things going on in our band, but for home you'll be fine. I have recently acquired a lekato 5.8g guitar wireless set, but havent had chance to properly test it out to compare to the Boss yet.
  13. I had one for a few days and didn’t get on with it. I only had it for a few days as it had a faulty power supply and so had to be returned. the sound was too clean for my liking, and the volume was notched, and I couldn’t get on with it. It went from too quiet to too loud very quickly. You could use the compressor to adjust it but it was a pain. The Orange Terror bass is much better in my opinion. I had the Mk 1 version for about 15 years, using it with an Orange SP212 cab.
  14. Between £250 and £350 in Kent. This NYE we have £650
  15. When I was last without an amp and a gig came up, I hired one for the night. It cost about £40 for the night and saved me having to rush into buying something
  16. I have one of these and it’s awesome (and it’s tiny!)
  17. Off to see Funeral For A Friend on Sunday, who are doing a 20th anniversary show of Casually Dressed & Deep in conversation. looking forward to it, but equally it is making me feel old as I bought the album when it was released
  18. Thanks, I will do that. It was described as brand new, and only opened to test that it worked! He must have only used a battery to test it! Ill keep my eye out for a new one with a warranty
  19. We had it mid 2nd set, but I think it would be great as an opener. If you've got the right crowd its one of those songs that as soon as people recognise the riff there's lots of cheering! I saw Kasabian open with it a couple of years ago at the Brixton Academy and the place went crazy
  20. Love Club Foot, its always goes down well in our set!
  21. Good rehearsal last night, our first one for a couple of months. Seemed early, but we starting on learning a Christmas song ready for Dec!
  22. Im on Iron Maiden Book of Souls Live Chapter, they recorded a couple of songs from Download!
  23. I have just purchased a used Tech 21 YYZ Geddy Lee off eBay but it only seems to work with a battery and not the mains. I am using the official Tech 21 DC9 mains plug that I have from another Tech 21 unit, so I know the power supply is fine. I love the pedal, and got it for a good price but I am reluctant to keep it if it can only be used with batteries. Does anyone have any suggestions before I have to return it as faulty???
  24. The Tech21 Steve Harris does everything you require, and it has a tuner. I have one and it is brilliant, and you can get all sorts of sounds out of it. v expensive new but I’ve seen them going on eBay for a lot less. as an aside, the Tech21 stuff doesn’t seem to hold its value that well, even though it’s well build quality stuff
  25. I had thought I had a dep gigged lined up for a couple of months time. Id been messaging the band leader about the date, setlist and trying to arrange a rehearsal etc. Its however gone radio silent since I broached the subject of the fee and told him how much Id like for it. Id asked for £100, to learn 30 songs for a private party which I didn't think was over the top, given I would normally get £75 from a pub gig round here, and so another £25 on top to learn to the songs didn't seem to bad! He's now gone quiet! Id already learnt half the songs, so I am glad I checked before learning the rest!
