1.
I may post a pic of it in guitar porn and risk the ridicule for posting such a bettered old warrior on there. Really must get the nut replaced.....
Please do! I just purchased a "bettered old warrior". It should be arriving this week.
  2. Peter Hook just Tweeted, "Loads of people all slapping and popping over each other, its just a mad bass rumble, sounds like a Seinfeld episode! @bassguitarshow London"

  4. I'm getting an active bass and need to know how people switch between active/passive basses and one amp. My amp has separate inputs but i have an effect in my signal chain that I want to use on both. The rest of my effects are in the amp's loop. Is it as simple as adding an A/B switch on that line? If so do you recommend the Boss or Morley one? Cheers!
  5. I could really be setting myself up with this one but is there any difference between rubber and cloth covered instrument cables? I mean apart from the cloth ones getting dirty are there differences tonally? *wincing*
  6.
I meant it differently, as in that I'd trip on them if they were on top of the stack.
There's a reason they're waist high. If I stacked two cabinets I'd run the risk of hanging myself.
  7.
Theres a nice Precision next to it. Thats what you really want!!
I think that was just it. I used to have a Jazz and it was the third shop I had been in that day. I had just become desensitized to all the Fenders I had seen and that one just stood out. Also I'm a big fan of The Edge so maybe subconsciously I thought I could get a crazy delay unit and go to town.
  8.
That thing is a monster. Looks light too.
Actually I bet the head STILL weighs more than the cab.

  10.
Would that be from the guitarist thumping him for encroaching on his territory?
OK, now THAT'S funny.
  11.
Musically good, vocals ridiculous - not because of the vocal style (although it was a bit much for the music) but the fact that the vocalist is utterly inept and unable to pull it off. It's a very difficult vocal style to do well and not end up risible. But, because it's extreme and difficult to understand, it's very easy to poke fun at.
Couldn't agree more and I'm a Ministry and White Zombie fan.
  12. YouTube's where I first saw one. There's definitely a lot of stuff on them. I printed out the manuals so between those and the vids I should be able to hammer something out.
  13.
Not very clumsy then.
Clumsy but smart. Sometimes.
  14. Got a new job today so why not stop at my favorite music shop on the way home. I don't know why but this Epi really caught my eye and was a decent price. Unfortunately playing higher on the neck wasn't as comfortable as I like so I had too pass. Probably for the better. Not really
  15. My humble rig. My Dillion DB-335 and my Tracey Series 6 AH500X w/GP12 PreAmp and 4x10 (sans horn) Redline Cab. I keep my effects up top because there's not many and it's easier to see and adjust. Also I'm clumsy so I don't have to worry about tripping on them.
  16. Here's my Tracey Series 6 AH500X w/GP12 PreAmp and 4x10 (sans horn) Redline Cab. I paid about £172 for both the amp and cab because it was on Ebay and no one wanted to pay the shipping. The guy was local and said I could just come and get it.
  17. Welcome, Andy! Bert covered everything nicely. Don't be afraid to ask questions OR use the Search function. Above all have fun! Find a favorite song that's easy and learn the tab. It will keep you from getting discouraged. If you do get discouraged just turn it up loud and bang away!!! Many of classic bands started that way.
  18.
Strings will change things for sure and everyone should have the balls to adjust their truss rods. It's a very simple affair.
After putting heavy guage strings on my new bass I finally worked up the balls to do it myself. It was super easy just intimidating. Now that I know I can do (like everything in life) it's not an issue.

    Signal Chain

I used to just run everything in a line to the amp. Now I understand the benefits of using the effects loop on the amp. It really made a difference tonally. Now I run them... Guitar > Line Boost > Chorus > Amp then Noise Suppressor > Distortion in the amp's effects loop.
  20. After the decent intro NOTHING can prepare you for those vocals.
  21. Bummed that I can't go and meet all of you. Oh yeah, and the fact that Peter Hook is doing a presentation on Sunday. (Like how I say that like I'm just down the street and there isn't a 16 hour flight involved? Details.)
