    I have but not with the new neck. It had a mighty mite neck on it but that was really bendy. Everytime I went to use it I had to make minor setup adjustments. Ended up getting a USA Jazz bass that someone had destroyed the body. So I took the neck from that and had my tech put it on. Plays great but compared with my other basses it doesn't sound great thus the issue. I'll get a few pics and post them up for you later.

    Thanks for the replies guys. Are the Entwistle pickups any good? They seem very cheap. I could only find one demo online. I've done a little bit of reading up on it. I may not actually use the bridge pickup. A few artists who look like they use them don't live. I just figured if it were there then it should work. I have a QP in my Aerodyne in the P position so I think I might try one in that. If the P is still too powerful then I'll move the J QP to my P bass special which has a SPB2. Intrigued by Entwistle though, the price makes me weary though.

    I might just do that. It's not getting a size that's an issue as it's a standard MM size pickup. It's tone and output. I could have the bass routed for a P-bass pickup if it comes to that but most people seem to use active preamps with MM pickups but I want to keep it passive due to the control spacing and my other basses being passive.

    Hi all. I have a custom build bass which I feel I need a new pickup for. It's a Thunderbird body with a maple jazz neck, the pickup is a Musicman style with a passive volume and tone. The exact pickup is a Kent Armstrong ( This one http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/electronics-c17/kent-armstrong-guitar-pickups-c100/kent-armstrong-bass-pickups-c101/kent-armstrong-musicman-bass-replacement-pickup-p707 ). The issue I have is I play mainly P-basses and a Gibson thunderbird. I find the Kent Armstrong pickup too bright. I want to stick with passive so no adding a pre amp. The sound I'm looking for is fat with enough output to match my P-Basses and Thunderbird. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    I had a 72 Jazzmaster once. The frets were worse than that and the luthier I took it to said there was enough left. He dressed, levelled, crowned etc... and it played better that it ever had. That said he did say next time I'd need a refret. It also depends on if you like low frets and your playing style as to if low profile frets would work. So it will depend on which luthier you take it to and their personal experience and preference on what they would do to it. From mine, I'd say there's enough there.

Guess it could have been that weird angle I had it at or a lead, maybe even my multi adaptor (all of which have been changed).     I just bought a Smoothound with a second transmitter. I did so based on the fact it was the only unit to do what I needed, it was easy to get a second transmitter and the price is outstanding for what you get. I can say that after a couple of setup issues (My fault I might add) that I love it. I spoke to Chris to get info on how best to place it etc and was getting replies within 2 hours. The customer support is just as good as the unit. I've now gigged it last weekend (5 gigs in one weekend) and it didn't fail once. Well worth the money. I even was able to participate in a conga while playing on Sat. FYI Chris, if you read this it's Grant that emailed you a couple of weeks ago.

    Hi guys. I know some of this has been covered as I've read through the forums and done some searches online. I have a few PJ Basses and as I'm gigging more and more I'm realising that there's issues. For instance on the P pickup I really need to have the pickup height set correctly otherwise I get one string louder than the other, kinda goes without saying but I had to do a few little tweaks here and there. The Jazz sounds lower in output and when I put them on together the bass disappears into the mix, so much so that my guitarist thought I had stopped playing. My issue is I really would like a hum cancelling J pickup matched with a P pickup. I'll list my PJ basses and the pickups I have and perhaps you could suggest what I should change. Fender Precision plus with a set of EMGs (Not sure of the mode). I like this bass but it doesn't have the grunt of my passive basses thought the balance is a lot better. Fender Mex deluxe (passive) Seymour Duncan SPB2 and STK-JB2 Fender Aerodyne Seymour Duncan SPB3 and STK-JB2 Fender Aerodyne Stock pickups Am looking for a rock tone with hopefully a humcancelling J pickup, not a deal breaker but I did notice the Aerodyne J's buzzed so it put me off having a single coil J but if there's one that won't buzz as much with the P then I'll give it a try. FYI I know the SPB3 is really high output, I just had it lying around and thought I'd try it, Still have the original. My other basses are a Gibson thunderbird with stock pickups, a custom Thunderbird with a Kent Armstrong Musicman pickup and a Fender Jazz bass with SJB2 set. I'd ideally like my PJs to match the output of these. Any help guys?

I did think about the Source Audio Soundblox Pro Distortion but this looks more along the lines of what I need. I think from what's been posted the Source Audio or the Darkglass are ones that tick the boxes. Leaning towards the Source Audio for flexibility, though the Darkglass did have the tone in the video but I know I could get that tone from the Source Audio.

I stayed away from it due to it being a guitar pedal and I thought it would probably lack bottom end. Wasn't sure if he used it live or not. Though if it does what I need it to and I'm not going to change the sound from song to song then it might be worth a shot.

    Hi guys. This has been covered in other threads to a point but not specifically what I'm after. I need a drive pedal for live playing. Currently I have the Silverburst B:assmaster and the Boss ODB3 and can't seem to get a sound I like. The B:assmaster sounds thinner than I'd hopped and when I get a good tone using it I find that the drive blend is down and not really got much drive on it. With the ODB3 I can get a good tone but get so much feedback with it I end up having to use a noise suppressor. Am I doing something wrong? The B:assmaster gets so much love and from the demos it should tick the boxes. Have I got the wrong variant? The tone I'm trying to get is something along the lines of Blurs song 2. I get pretty close by maxing the drive on my Sansamp Bass Driver Deluxe. I also use the drive on Plug in Baby by Muse and find this works pretty well for my band rather than using the effects he uses on the recording. Just nothing I'm doing id 100% what I want. Just need a thick and loud, melt your face off fuzz/drive. Any suggestions on what I should do?

    Thanks guys. I compared the out put to one of my strats and it's still lower than that. That was also after raising the pickup height as much as I could. I thought the strangle switch only cut the bottom end out but not affecting the output?

    Been gassing for one of these for a while now. With a new job I thought I'd treat myself. Gotta say I love it. One issue though. When I took it to rehearsal last night the volume of the Bass VI compared to say my Fenderoppus bass was really low. Does anyone else find the Bass VI lacks output compared to a regular bass? Anyway to change this and level things out a bit? Thanks, G.
