I also gig a pf50t, even though the other amp has twice the power it breaks up much earlier. I guess this is due to it being a guitar amp.

I tried something similar, I bought a Japanese Mesa mk1 clone and cut it down to a cool looking head that sat nicely on 1x12 cabs. After taking it to 2 amp techs and spending £££ it still breaks up way too early (even though it’s 100w 4x6l6). The trinity trip top looks like what I’m after but I’m trying to not fall into that money pit!

I’m thinking of getting one, but the power supply requirements seem to be large. What are you guys using for it?

I’ve been gigging this summer using an ampeg 50t with 2 Aguilar db112. The drummer isn’t crazy loud and the guitarist was using a fender blues junior. My rig kept up until we did an outside festie.

I ordered a px101 on Monday and it arrived today, no import duty either!!!!!

Do you think the 50t will have enough clean headroom with the 310? I guess it all depends on your drummer!

When I was selling an Orange ad200 a guy tried it out with his cab (BF supertwin). I couldn’t believe how bad it made my amp sound. Probably just needed somebody who knew how to eq. But I could not get a bad sound from that amp using my MB Classic 410 or a couple of Aguilar db112. I think the BF 10’ drivers are supposed to be more ‘coloured’

Barefaced 310, looks ideal for a 1 cab solution. I don’t do loud bands anymore but I would like the speakers a bit closer to my lug holes. Barefaced are pricey mind and it will be a while until 310 make an appearance on the second hand market. Does anyone know if they sorted their tolex peal issues?

I like the look of the new BF 310. That could be the Goldilocks cab!

I’m also not a fan of the PF cabs, the Aguilar db series suit the 50t nicely. Although they are heavy

Octave and distortion pedals seem to cause speakers to let go more than loud clean IME

Amploft in Bristol would be my recommendation, retro amps just outside Newton Abbot if you don’t want to go that far
