  1. Barefaced 310, looks ideal for a 1 cab solution. I don’t do loud bands anymore but I would like the speakers a bit closer to my lug holes. Barefaced are pricey mind and it will be a while until 310 make an appearance on the second hand market. Does anyone know if they sorted their tolex peal issues?
  2. I like the look of the new BF 310. That could be the Goldilocks cab!
  3. I’m also not a fan of the PF cabs, the Aguilar db series suit the 50t nicely. Although they are heavy
  4. Octave and distortion pedals seem to cause speakers to let go more than loud clean IME
  5. Amploft in Bristol would be my recommendation, retro amps just outside Newton Abbot if you don’t want to go that far
  6. Thanks guys, you were spot on. I'd forgotten that I'd replaced one of the drivers and I hadn't used both together since. I flipped the wires around and all is well in the world again! The aguilar driver that I took out was making a bit of a buzz sound although I cannot see any physical damage. Does anyone recone them?
  7. I have for years been using a genz benz streamliner 600 as my main gigging amp. It has been trouble free and sounds great with an aguilar db112. Almost all the time I find one cab enough, I last played with 2 cabs about 6 months ago. Yesterday I was trying some things out at home and I noticed whilst the amp sounded fat and wonderful with 1 cab (running 8ohm) when I connected 2 cabs (running 4ohms) it sounded thin and horrible. Each cab individually sounded great and I'm sure 6 months ago running 2 cabs was glorious. Any ideas? I tested the leads, not them.
  8. Ouch! Also I’m wondering if it will be similar to the Mesa Prodigy, which never seemed to live up to the hype
  9. Jad Freer are releasing a small footprint (40cm) all valve 200w!! https://jadfreeraudio.com/product/preorder-volta/
  10. Amploft is in Bristol, Mike is a cool guy and knows his stuff
  11. Some valid points of view. I think they are known amongst the guitar community. Just wondered what they actually sounded like. My usual amp is a streamliner which is probably pretty similar, just a lot less £
  12. I see Anderson’s are importing milkman amps. Has anyone heard the bass half & half? Very expensive but they look really nice!!!
  13. There are some really good battery powered PA speakers now. EV everse, bose s1 etc. A good bass preamp pedal into one of those won’t flap trousers but will probably produce the best sound to weight ratio.
  14. Amps shape your tone a lot more than the bass you are playing
  15. Anyone tried a 50t with a 6x10? I have often wondered if that would keep up with the heavy hands of our drummer
  16. I think if this amp ever happens & manages to satisfy all the contributors it should be called the unicorn!!!
  17. That’s something to get you through the gig!
  18. It’s difficult for original bands in Devon. Mainstream covers bands can eek out a living in stinky poo pubs and holiday parks. But is that really living??
  19. Quality is not maintained with deps, the arrangements are unusual!
  20. Our drummer last year did exactly 50% of our gigs, we had to use deps for the other dates. He’s always been busy with other bands and social commitments but I thought this was too low. I suggested band members should make 80% of gigs. He threw his toys out and left. Am I being harsh? I know jazzers are fluid with line ups but folk and rock it’s more tribal. Some of our music is quite syncopated and difficult to blag.
  21. NYE at the Bull Totnes. The new year in Narnia!
