1.
I like her two fingers per fret technique as well (last photo where she is holding the neck of the bass). That'll cut out all those extraneous notes.
Obviously learned the technique on a DB, getting reinforcement by using two fingers per note.
2. BassDirect have a s/h Bassix in stock Chris - in case interested http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp..._Multitech.html
3.
Are you quite sure...........?
Well thats the value of what I have (Alleva £2.6k, 72P £1.8k, Alembic £1.2k, CIJ P £300-ish) Its not the value of what I have traded, thats for sure
4.
not surprising that this went at a very attractive price! One happy new owner, certainly...
It is/was a great price but, as you all know (and there was a thread about this recently), its a pretty tough market for sellers at the moment The sale is not done and dusted yet but, assuming all well, the new owner will indeed be a happy bunny as its a slick-playing, great-sounding jazz with more than a few Irish stories to tell! And the sale helps me out no end with El taxman so everybody is happy (well I'm not happy about the tax bill but you know what I mean)
5. Neck must have ended up like a banana!
6. Bump for those who did not spot £100 (final) price cut yesterday
7. Hey, I (sort of) made the cover of BGM!
8. Not including FS '75 Jazz, its between £5-6k for me I don't feel bad about it given how much Mrs C has spent on shoes and handbags
9.
isn't great to have threads like this. showing respect and friendship to each others. cheers!
Steely Dan are not as good as Level 42 and Nigel silddx smells of elderberries Fixed
10. I need to sell this so, cutting to the chase, my final price is £1400 including delivery. Can't say fairer than that. If it doesn't sell for this I will have to store it away for a better time to sell and find the tax money elsewhere
11. The return of my eldest from three weeks travel, ending up at Pukkelpop festival in Belgium, meant I couldn't attend. Sounds like I missed a corker - hope to make the gig in January!
12. I am strangely drawn to you stingraypete - please post as often as possible
13. Forgot to add - serial number is 615019 This brings up the following on the Fender serial dater project website (just to endorse the year): "Your guitar was made at the Fullerton Plant (Fender - CBS Era), USA in the Year(s): 1975"
14. That looks beautifully put together by Jon. Congratulations! PS, mine is smaller
15. Show off! Besides, as they say, the funk is the fingers ... Shame mine are like sausages
16. Sounds like fun! Next you will be looking for mid-60s Precison, Barrie lol!
17.
Surely punk is about not having rules though?
Bang on! Its a Noguera burl spalted maple headless 8 string fretless at the next gig
18.
It's already a stunner Clarky. I still can't afford it, but almost tempted to go into debt for it. Taking my good wife out for lunch today, with the hope that after a glass or two she might see the investment potential of a decent seventies jazz and talk me into buying it .
Good luck with that Gary - make sure its a glass or two of Carlsberg Special Brew and it might do the job
19. Sunday morning bump. Swapped strings for medium gauge today (it came with heavy gauge strings) and it is now super-slick. Great player and all it needs IMHO is a more celluloid-y tort guard (bass doc is your man ) or a three-ply black guard to be a stunner
20.
Right. I warned you. (Adopts Basil Fawlty voice) You're out of the Precision club! PS: Looks like a Yamaha anyway
How very dare you! My other three basses are Precisions
21. For Happy Jack's benefit ( ) here is a link to a pic of us playing the Punkfest this evening, with me playing an Alembic http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry932345
22. Kismetik playing at Gosport Punkfest this evening. Yep, thats me playing an Alembic at a punk gig!
23.
Hi Clarky , I am interested , I like the fact it's a 4 bolter with a Maple neck . I assume all the basic's are there , ie , straight neck + pick-ups work . Do the frets have much wear ? Are you based in Central London . ( I am on the Isle of Wight ) Thanks Martin.
Hi Martin, as far as I am concerned its completely functional - pickups work, neck is straight etc and the frets have plenty of life in them still. As I mentioned earlier, one of BC's moderators (SiBob) recently played this and it was owned by Happy Jack, so you could always seek an independent view. I live near Hammersmith in Central London and work near Liverpool St Cheers Clarky
24. Hey BB and b5, afraid I am after cash in this instance due to nasty (Spanish) taxman who wants to take rather more (several times ) off me than £1500
