1.
welcome to the club!! Is yours tweetered?
I'm too scared to take off grill cloth in case I screw something up! There's no dial on the back if thats a clue. I bought if off Doctorbass - he didn't mention a tweeter. However, I thought the Vintage was a 2x15 plain and simple, ie, no tweeter option????
 2.
I can't speak from experience but would think 300W through an efficient 2x15 would be loud enough for most gigs (the Vintage is 4ohms, right?)
It is 4 ohms, thanks!
 3. I just bought one of these tonight and can attest how amazingly light these cabs are as well as great sounding. Have a bump on me
 4. Just bought a Barefaced Vintage cab off Mark, our second deal. Great cab, just gave it a quick play with my Orange valve amp and sounds wonderful. Great transaction as before. Cheers Mark!
 5.
That Little Rocker might be what you are after, have not heard one though.
Looks interesting Raggy but I have yet to read a single proper review of one! Besides I probably need the LM Old Rocker
 6.
Wimp
In one
 7.
Dude, save the money, get a gig bag with a big pocket and take the Walkabout head as backup like I do. Alternatively buy/get made a flight that'll take both the Orange and the Mesa together.
I am not as butch as you Chris (dodgy back) and I find the Orange amp quite heavy enough (c.25kg) without a flight case, let alone one also containing a Walkabout! Sorry but thats a non-starter. Plus I really doubt there's a gig bag with a strong enough and big enough pocket for a Walkabout! I want super-light to make my life easier. Appreciate the thoughts though
 8.
GK MB-200 or MB2-500 are the smallest/lightest I know of: http://www.gallien-krueger.com/products_mb.html The MB-200 only weighs 1kg if 200w is enough power! The Orange Terror does come with a carry bag though an has the same preamp as the AD200 so I'd still consider it!
I would have had it on the list, Dan, if it meant not carrying separately as my OCD tendencies would like the same brand as back-up!
 9.
I've raised this issue before re. the shuttle 3.0, but I'll happily restate it : when you push the power stage quite hard, it distorts in quite a nice valvey stylee, and it's not at ear bleeding volumes either. This is worth considering, as not all desirable distortion comes from an overdriven front end. It's just that the Genz's transition in to distortion is a lot more musical than traditional s-s amps. I'm sure the 6.0 does it too, but you'd end up playing very loud to get the same effect.
Thx. Would this cope with being put through a Barefaced 2x15 Vintage cab? Or is it too lacking in power? I need something thats loud enough to deal with a club/pub/small hall sized gig (for which the AD200B is obviously overkill!)
 10. I have just acquired an Orange AD200B amp and am aware that valve amps are sometimes troublesome ... so I want a very small head to carry in gigbag pocket as back-up. I am assuming the SWR Headlite, Genz Shuttle or MarkBass F1 are the smallest but there are others. Which one would you choose in my situation (bearing in mind I prefer a valve pre-amp for some extra warmth/grit and as it saves me having to carry a separate pedal)? I have excluded the Orange Terror Bass as, whilst dinky, it is not quite tiny enough, likewise the Mesa Walkabout head (which I already have in my combo). Yay, poll time!
 11.
Thanks for the review, but along with the neck-dive issue the most frequent comment about T-birds is how damned heavy they are. What does this beastie weigh? As a general rule, I don't believe that ANY review of ANY bass is complete if it fails to give the weight.
I know its a Gibson, not an Epiphone, but the T'bird I just sold (to BC'er Norris) only weighed 9lbs. It junked the prejudice I had that these are monstrously weighty beasts

 13.
The NASH is for sale?!
No, not FS unless the chain of events above happens. TBH, was probably speaking in haste (bl**dy BassChat GAS)
 14. Sniffing paint behind the office? Thats very punk
 15. If someone would buy my fretless '76 Precision, I would buy this and move on my Nash (much though I love the Nash, your Jazz is even nicer and prettier still). Unfortunately the first part of this chain ain't happening
 16.
Are the controls just vol vol, or vol tone?
It says "Wired with a Volume control for each pickup and no tone control" in first post S'what Jon told me too when I saw the bass.
 17. I have seen this in the flesh so to speak and it's one sexy stealth bass. Jon is a top bloke too so somebody will be getting a seriously cool rock machine here
 18.
Are you sure this time, mate? Best of luck with the sale! I'm half tempted myself, just getting really into my latest fretless, but I also have no Alembics or Sadowskys, only a Jazz 50th Anniversary with the proper '62 chunky neck profile, but you'd have to prise that one out of my cold dead hands at the moment!
I was sure last time, Rich, but felt publicly humiliated into giving it another go. But you can't polish a turd!* I would also trade for one thousand and four hundred of your English pounds Edit: * for avoidance of doubt, the turd is my fretless playing not the bass!!!!!
 19. IIRC last year Hamster and Silverfoxnik played a big part in the organisation of the SE BassBash. I don't think I've seen any suggestion from them of anything in the works (and it was an awful lot of work) so maybe its someone else's turn to put their hand up, much as essexbasscat did for the North London bash? I'm not volunteering by the way as I am a freeloader
 20.
With the Precision's 60th birthday coming up, maybe we can hope that there will be a US made '51 RI? Fingers crossed.
Good point - you may have just explained why they have ceased the (relatively cheap) Japanese model - its a cynical marketing world out there!
 21.
it would have to be sea-bass only.
Grumble-groan * * for the benefit of older BC'ers!
 22. I really like this custom-build Alembic 5'er - a lookalike of Jason Newsted's (Metallica) main bass from the early 90s. Its FS on Alembic Forum but at a cool Euro 4,000 its way out of my league (the guy paid Euro 6,700 too - ouch!)

 25. As my last attempt at selling this ran to 3 pages and had an unhelpful intervention by a certain BC'er, I am starting it all over. This is a gorgeous '76 fretless Fender Precision in amazing condition (a couple of small dings but looks like new from a few feet away, with incredibly vibrant paintwork and the rosewood board is in superb condition). The bass itself came from Vintage and Rare in Denmark Street and I paid £1,600 for it in March 2010 (its still shown on their website at £1,795t!). It weighs 10lbs. The overall condition of this bass is so good for a 34 year old that I suspect it has spent much of its life unplayed in its case - I have unfortunately carried on that tradition as I cannot play it and have decided I'm actually not bothered about being good at fretless (playing a fretted 4 string properly is ambition enough for me). Due to personal preference I have swapped the standard black s/p for a 70s style tort one made for me by the Bass Doc so it looks very Jamerson. Of course both s/p's would be included in any sale. It has a pretty good condition Fender hard case, chrome covers and a certificate of authenticity from V&R. As far as I am aware it is completely 100% original (when wearing the black s/p of course). Pics below: From V&R Wearing new tort s/p: I was looking for £1500 ono but will this week accept £1400 cash for a quick deal (not including delivery)
