1. Thanks chaps. My Bacchus is a traditional Jazz set-up, V/V/T with no S1. I assumed I would be using the neck pickup 100% but I but don't want to mod the Jazz in any way - I like the stock J sound but was hoping that I could use the Sansamp to augment it to get a P-esque sound.
2. Looks like you're on your own on this one Wayne PS, the moon is not made of cheese - fact
3. I like the sound of Js and Ps but have found Js lacking when in noisy, rock situations (eg my punk band). I would like to use my Bacchus Jazz in this situation however, rather than it sit at home as a lovely practice toy. So I googled the title of this thread and found some people suggesting that you can indeed use a Sansamp to beef up and fill out the sound of a J. Has anyone on BC done this and - most importantly - do you have any combination of pickup/control and Sansamp settings you would recommend?
4.
I have used them. Found the E to be quite floppy, but it still gave a decent enough tone and sustain when compared to wackers or plain guts - but not as good as silverslaps. Also found the slap to be quite plasticy and unpleasant sounding to my ears. They have the obvious advantage of working with a mag pickup, so if this were key I'd go for it; if not then I'd personally stick with the slaps.
Thanks for that mate. My Eminence has a piezo pickup so there would be no benefit on that front. Sounds like I would be well advised to stick with Silver Slaps - will also save me money!!!!
5. So that will be a 'no' then? Just don't want to fork out a small fortune to find out these are wrong and then (in my usual style) sell at a huge loss!
6.
Nice, might have to start stalking your gear instead of Clarky's for a bit
Evening John, get off my Pino! Oo er, missus Hey Nick, that's a looker and a half. Good score mate although I also loved the look of the 62ri Jazz you traded for this
7. Where's the tab? Bilbo will be impressed Awesome looking cake but the big question is what's under the icing - chocolate sponge, victoria sponge with raspberries? We need to be told, at least so we can imagine chowing down on it!
8. Looks like a honey blonde Highway One P body with a 62RI (or more likely copy 62RI) neck. Could explain date stamp
9. FYI, this now on eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT Should any BC'er want to buy this (at the £750 price discussed in this thread) I will of course remove the eBay listing (assuming no bids have been received)
10. Dealing on an unregulated forum such as BassChat is all about mutual trust. With respect greendredmusic you are not coming across as someone it would be nice to do business with. Call me a mommy's boy or whatever, I couldn't care less. But I wouldn't buy a bass off you unless you dropped the attitude and became more helpful
11.
Possibly another bass.
like this
12.
Pedro Pandolino is a VERY well known bass player from the Isle of Wight, famous for his work with Eric Clipton, Phil Colin, John Major... He's currently playing for legendary rock band The What. Can't believe you haven't heard of him!
Anyway I have offered the ratty pink bass as part-ex (with a Giles Brandreth neck sweater) for silddx's awesome custom bass
13. The ACG fretless sounds lovely om the new track
14. Not for me but interesting and you certainly don't see many of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Steinberger-Spirit-X...c#ht_600wt_1141
15.
100W@4ohms ? Is that right?
Yep, rubbish under-powered cab this. I'll give you £50 to take it off your hands quickly Nick
16. I have Silver Slaps on my DB which I love but they don't have quite the same feel or resonance on my Eminence EUB. I had previously owned an Aria EUB with Presto Nylonwounds in light gauge and they felt very nice under the fingers, if fairly bulky (despite being 'light' gauge). So has anyone tried the Prestos in the Ultralight gauge? If so are they too skinny/floppy and how is the tone for pizz (I don't bow)? Thanks Clarky Here's the stats http://presto-strings.com/doublebass.html
17. Actually, its a bit painful trying to sell a nice bass in this market and - given the lack of interest - I am withdrawing for now. I will try re-selling at some point in future on BassChat or eBay Edit: so much for my 'creative' payment plan idea!!!!!
18. Viewing off ... so back up for sale
19.
NOTHING cause you found it out the way you did and not in keeping with the "spirit" of the thread! Muwhwhwhahahaha.
Ummm, OK. Is it a Gibson Thunderbird?
20. Reply: "Hi Mark Apologies for the delay, we've been trying our best to get hold of the suppliers of these. Here's the short version - there was a delay in manufacturing hence the date being pushed back to end of January. From the shipment of 50 expected only 10 arrived for the whole of Europe - we managed to get 2 of these, which both went out yesterday. The supplier here found out last night that some more of these making their way to Europe in about 6 days, fortunately although their factory said there were only 10 they found that there were in fact more on the ship. We are told that we will get 3 more Nano's in 7-10 days. I'll make sure that you get one of those 3, we do have a lot of backorders but I'll tell the warehouse to put you top of the list. I'll get them to send out a freebie or two for you too as a gesture." Oh well, at least I will be in the next batch and will probably get a free plectrum
21.
Ahh someone using their brain for once! Thats right, Black and maple with gold scratchplate USA Deluxe Precision V. This one happens to be a 60th anniversary also
Cool, what do I win?
22. Is this old 2007 post of your a clue? "WTB: Fender American 5 string Deluxe P"
23. "I used this Precision on many tracks with my band 10cc in the UK from 1972 until the late 1980’s" We had it wrong all along. The bass player in 10cc was obviously Andy Gouldman, not Graham
24. Just sent them the following email: "Please reply to my email of yesterday morning. I would URGENTLY like to know the status of my Pedaltrain Nano order from the start of December, being since I know two bass playing colleagues who ordered at the same time and have received theirs (well one has and the other received a despatch note from you). As I paid out c.£50 nearly 2 months ago, please have the courtesy of replying promptly." Not holding my breath
