1. OK, its completely different. But it is black
2. Doh! Thats why I was rubbish at slapping. No hat Jack, on the other hand, has a hat ...
3. Oops, your eyesight is better than mine! Maybe the most recent owner decided a bit of modification was needed Alternatively its a different bass
4. Now this looks remarkably like the one formerly owned by Silverfoxnik, Happy Jack and I http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_details.cfm?ID=2202&type=Bass%20Guitar
5.
I like the one with the Dubouchet duet with the red faced chap playing the banjo. Can't find it now but hope someone will post it. Mrs Crap DB Player said she thought he was possibly the scariest looking musician she's ever seen (the banjo player that is), and she's lived with me a fair few years so has met a few!
Hey! I had my hair cut for that video clip
6. The Cordes Lambert guy, Nicolas Dubouchet, is awesome and the most musical slapper to my ears Here he is in laid back mode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bE4jxKZdgE Gypsy jazzing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQTISGj6Qzk&feature=related
7. Incidentally Jack, your action (higher than my ultra-low) and strings (Silver Slaps) are good for slapping, so its just down to technique. I have the same DVD mentioned in Geddys nose's post above which you are most welcome to borrow
8. Swine, what harm did your bass ever do to you? But more seriously I had an excellent lesson with BC's PaulKing last week immediately after picking up that DB bow from you. He's in Acton, very nice, can be plied with red wine (Chianti works), and awfully good at slapping. I left just about able to slap Johnny Cash-stylee (eg, Folsom Prison Blues). I could show you but I am still too rubbish. Paul is yer man
9. If it helps, the standard CIJ Precision 62 has a 42mm nut width, ie, a 'proper' P width nut http://www.guitaremporium.co.uk/index.php?f=data_fender_japan_new_guitars&a=2
10. Lovely work there Howard. I'm guessing this will sell faster than a faster thing

13. How much for the combo, minus ext cab? Also, in your experience, is the combo loud enough on its own for a DB in rehearsals (assume that the band is mainly acoustic with a drummer)? I am looking for an ultra-compact, convenient DB-friendly combo for rehearsals. Cheers
14. Woodo (also known as Arttu from Stockholm, Sweden) recently bought my Acme 2x10 cab. Great communications, swift payment and Arttu also arranged pick-up of the cab. Couldn't have been easier or more pleasant. Recommended addition to the ranks of decent BC'ers to do business with
15.
Well, according to the ad, it sold for £3495.
Blimey, the buyer could have picked up as nice a Wal from the BassChat FS forum for a grand less
16.
This song is ruined by the worst lead guitar I've heard on any song ever. It makes my toes curl...
Its cheesy but gotta disagree, its part of the song's charm IMHO

19. Great to hear you are up and gigging John after that ocular nastiness
20. Martyn P Casey of the Bad Seeds ... with his beat-up old Precision http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYyl78qQPVI
21. If by any chance you don't get replies and want a cheap and cheerful solutiuon, the J-tone pickups on ebay will do a job. This is a cheap copy of a BassMax for just £25 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/J-tone-Big-double-Bass-Pick-up-/200613316399?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Sting_Instruments&hash=item2eb57c472f
22. If you put up an items wanted post for a piezo in the DB section (BassMax seems the most popular although Shadow 950 and Underwoods are very good too) I reckon you should come up trumps. You can get guide prices from the DB for sale forum, looking back at old sales, but I reckon you could pick up a BassMax for maybe £50-60. Most of the DBers on here are forever chopping and changing and seem to have at least several piezo's lying around
23. Much less hassle will be swapping to a piezo pickup, as BassBod suggests. They slip in the wings of the bridge, can be bought cheaply (a good one like an Underwood, Shadow or BassMax will cost you £50+ used but there's acceptable ones on eBay for like £20), and you won't have to change strings (I hate swapping DB strings as I end up with cramped hands!). Ditch the Schaller! Or get a better mag ... but easiest is to get a piezo IMHO
24.
I have bought the same Jazz bass 4 (four) times from Basschatters!!
We have a winner!!!!! Says quietly, erm Beedster?
25. Here's a vid of a guy playing Trubass on a Warwick. Gives you some idea albeit the song choice is hilarious! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnQAgI1aeTo
