  1. Having had a helpful message about hand injuries from another BCer and also being told by my wife not to be rash, I am withdrawing this bass for now. Let's see how my hand progresses
  2. Just thinking laterally, maybe get a small pedal board, velcro on the Sansamp and an Ashdown Ant (or some type of small power amp eg mini Sumo). You can just bring the pedal board and bypass the power amp if no rig is required, or plug the lot into your BF cab if you need a backline? https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitar-pedals/bass-overdrive-pedals/ashdown-the-ant-pedalboard-bass-amp
  3. Apols to OP for thread derail. Bring on the bass faces!
  4. This incidentally is what I am struggling with (2 fractures and damaged ligament, which stubbornly resist to heal):
  5. A recent horse riding accident has left me with significant discomfort playing anything other than skinny necked and/or short scale basses. Hence this hard-to-find Fullerton 62P RI is up for sale. Lightweight (8lb 7oz) and plays nicely (well it would if my bust-up hand didn't hurt) with Dunlop 45-105 flats (my pics show it with TI flats which I can swap to if required). Best description and specs (plus loads of photos) are on the link to the FS ad from Andy Baxter, from whom I bought it (and for rather more than my asking price here ....) As I bought it only weeks befire my accident in March, it hasn't left the house. https://www.andybaxterbass.com/products/1983-fender-precision-bass-fullerton-vintage-58 £2,500 ovno collected (SW13 London area) or will add courier delivery at cost.
  6. Its a Serek Midwestern (hand made by Jake Serek and his team in Chicago, as played by Tim Lefebvre, Brandon Boone of Tedeschi Trucks etc). Serek designs are based on retro basses like yhe Newport and Gibson Ripper. These are mine:
  7. For me, it's a mix of equal parts concentration (aka, WTF am I doing?) and unintended Jimmy Page pouting
  8. Spotted this on Instagram. Step aside, MDP, I think we have a new master
  9. Respectfully disagree with earlier posters. My fave Bond film is You Only Live Twice. Love the swirling Barry soundtrack and title song. As a fanboi (and being unable to afford an Aston Martin!) I have a sort-of Bond tribute car, a 1966 MGB GT re-painted in silver with red leatherette interior, phwoarrr
  10. Bloody hell. I bought a bass from him only last year (moved it on as neck didn't work for me). Great musician RIP
  11. https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2023/05/09/in-memoriam-rick-jones/ Sad news. After closure last year of Euphonic Audio, not sure where Rick Jones' passing will leave the upright bass amp world.
  12. Rob Halford. Power and incredible range
  13. 100% definitely not Sunbeams. As said above, brass ends and no silks. Might have been a returned set whereby the original buyer wilfully or accidentally put the wrong strings back in DR box? Either way, I would return them
  14. The bass used to be mine in the heavily mojo'd condition. When Vin sent me a couple of updates on the refinish I had absolutely no idea just how painstaking and exhaustive (and exhausting!) this process actually was. Looks incredible now. Tremendous skills Vin, hat well and truly tipped!
  15. I know we are not supposed to bump on a daily basis but this is very time limited!
  16. Any fans of A Certain Ratio, post-punk funkster, former Factory label mates of Joy Division? I have two tickets for London gig (at The Garage) on Saturday and cannot attend due to injury. Can transfer by email in return for modest donation (at your discretion) to The Dog's Trust

  18. Mrs C confirms our matching was indeed from Habitat!
  19. TBH cannot remember. We have had it for 15-20 years at least. The sausages approve 20221120_114918.mp4
  20. Sneezing is the worst. Don't bring me flowers
  21. The bath is in our bedroom @Happy Jack. Besides I am not moving very far - I have a broken left index finger (which doesn't make for easy bass playing) and 17 cracks to my ribcage (yes you read correctly, 17). Courtesy of a bucking bronco horse in icy Lapland
  22. Here's a pic from a BC 'for sale' ad of the 5 string Dunlop set
  23. £95 at StringsDirect although I see on Amazon they are a relatively cheap (lol!) £74. For some reason the 45-105 set is significantly cheaper than 40-100 in most places (but still in La Bella territory)
